This video reviews content from the Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game formerly known as Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game and The Hobbit Strategy Battle Game. MESBG is a skirmish style war game developed by Games Workshop, based off the incredible artwork from the three films by Peter Jackson as well as drawing inspiration directly from the books. Wow, when I saw how you unbox this set it reminded me of all my sets. Now I don't have any figures because I gave them all to my cousin who was also collecting lotr. But when I saw this set I was like ,,My preciousss!!"

Finally someone that said there is a generic ringwraith! Thank You! I'm the same and have all these models except Theoden. Wanted to flesh out my forces but didn't want another Witch-king. So will be good to have another ringwraith on fell beast! I'll be getting it now

Used to play the game about 10 years ago, and played for about 4 years or so, but got out of it as I grew up, but this looks like a great way of getting back into it. I always loved painting as something nice and relaxing, so getting through all this will be amazing. Just need to find some money somehow :D

Many thanks. Its killed my fledgling interest I had in Age of Sigmar...LOL. Going with Rohan as my favourite. My local shop has just ordered me in all the main Rohan Characters from GW. Which main characters would you say would be a good addition to the new game and my Rohan Army? I was looking at the current Aragon pack and Legolas. I see Gandalf will be coming out in a new Plastic miniature so will wait for that.

Ratel Mike I'm a Rohan boy too! But I haven't actually checked out the new profiles yet, I'm still pouring over the rulebook. Although supposedly Theoden is supposed to be awesome now which is great. Erkenbrand always used to be a solid choice. I'll be doing a series soon following me building my Rohan lost as I work towards our big SBG Tournament next year so stay tuned for that!

I was never into the films or the books, when I seen the models built up & on display in my local shop, I couldn't say no. I've kind of out grown 40k these days, I'll try something new.

Steven Holt you won't regret it man it's a wonderful game. Not overly complicated, but it takes incredible finesse to master high level tactics.

Evening ZZ. I got into Middle Earth at the release of this starter set. Im going with one army as I have many other systems and that is Rohan. Its a popular game thankfully in my neck of the woods which is great. We have recently had a an AoS campaign which has taken up much of my time especially painting and with so much 40K goodness happening sadly Middle Earth took a bit of a back seat. However campaign is coming to a close and wanted to get back into my Rohan Army. Now when I started I bulked out my Army of Rohan with extra riders and their direct number of Warriors of Rohan so I had a mounted and foot miniature for each Rider of Rohan. I also bought many of the blister characters such as: Erkenbrand Gamling with Standard Eomer Captain of Rohan Rohan Banner Bearer Stupidly I bought the metal Eowyn and didnt wait till the plastic came out. The books I went with is obviously the new Rule book with the starter set, Armies Of LoTR. Apologies for all the waffle but getting to the point. Which books and miniatures for Rohan should I go with next as I say Ive been out of touch of the game for a bit. But i have seen new miniatures from forge world so I wanted to ask should I get these and are their stats listed in other books that I dont have as yet? I see their is a Rohan book and army stat card packs coming out according to Warhammer Community. A Appreciate your feedback

So Dernhelm, Elfhelm and Deorwine are in the Gondor at War book, they're all amazing heroes, Dernhelm being the same as Eowyn and Merry, and I run all of them in my lists but you could easily use what you have and focus o ngetting that all painted up first :D :D Invest in some mounted Royal Guard too!

I got my Books Monday, so hype. Someone gave my Galadhrim Heavy Armour! I hope they do more Middle Earth dice, and people were a little off about eight dice, but I'm not sure those people are familiar with the system, You shouldn't need eight dice much.

Knowing there were minimal rule changes I was anxious to see what they did with my profiles, Haldir got a big change, with them combining his book profile, and film one into a single profile, Rumil got a points update, which is far enough, he was brilliant for his old cost. I am a little annoyed in the Heavy Armour, as ye gads so many will drown now when I try swim tests! I also don't like that they did nothing got Guard of the Galadhrim Court, at their cost, I'm just not sure they are worth it,

Hey buddy! You can check out my Theoden Tutorial for a really detailed paint job: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/btWjdKqWq5asl6s.html But the best place to start is the Games Workshop website. They have painting guides for all their models. That doesn't necessarily mean Games Workshop Paints are the best to buy though, there's a whole host of brands to choose from, Vallejo and Games Workshop or Citadel are the two I use. Another great resource is my mate's channel: kzfaq.info/love/PrQSaLP6TIR1jz4TfIZw1A He's got some awesome tutorials on lots of models and is really easy to follow along with :)

Just about to start Lotr wargaming as i got sick to death of buying codexes for armies all the time. Im i right in saying lotr needs no codex and i can play straight away? Is this product still supported? And they aint making a new edition any time soon?

New edition was two years ag oand we won't get a new one for years if ever :) Still supported though! There are some codexes, but not like 40k. There is ony book for every army from LOTR and one book for every hobbit army. Then each year one to two supplements come out that have a theme like 'War in Rohan' or 'The Scouring of the shire' that have a narrative campaign and a couple of new profiles for some new models :)
