This is my second attempt at making a globe from coloured pencils. In the first one, I left the oceans as the pencils and used a black resin for the continents, I wasn't that pleased with how it turned out so here's my attempt at a better version.

Very relaxing to watch, thank you🖤 Part of me wishes the resin for the ocean was transparent because of how pretty the coloured pencil cores looked shining through the dark dye that you applied before the resin 🥰

@@t3hpenguinofd00m well, it could be a sphere, I don't really care, it's as likely to be a simulation though.....bottom line, physics describes a level plane, a horizon where lines of perspective merge and the atmosphere, layered over distance, thickens and becomes opaque, a veil, but zooming in unveils the hidden landscapes/objects that would usually be described as behind the curve. Water, at rest, is level. There is no experiment that can discern movement of the earth. All senses suggest we are still and the sky (simulated or otherwise) revolves. It is fair to say, that the sky, the sun especially, seem to suggest curvature, but the land does not appear to agree.

Fascinating! The end result always exceeds my imaginings. And your apparent ability to eyeball anything from a perfect sphere to a full-on map of the world is extremely impressive! 😮😆 Seeing the world in 3D like that really hammers home just how much of the globe's surface is under water and still largely mysterious to us, even in this modern day...?

Somehow I am reminded of the god in Terry Pratchett's The Last Continent who can make anything at all but when he gets upset can't resist making a new sort of beetle. Every so often you revert to pencils. Combining them with one of your amazing freehand globes takes them to a whole new level.

Love the sparkling water. When you first painted the Oceans dark and you could still see the pencils i wasn't sure if that would cary through, and then i wondered how it would look if you could have specific colours in different places, but couldn't see how you'd do that so it lines up all over. There's something satisfying in the completed rainbow of the lands though

How does anyone come up with an idea that results in such a unique piece of art? It is beautiful but I also thought it was beautiful when it was just a sphere without any carving etc. Don’t know how you thought out this whole process but glad you shared it with us. The result is stunning.
