I don't think you know what the word "genocide" actually means. The frog lady said the eggs represented the last of her personal family line, not her entire species. If someone had killed Luke and Leia as infants that would just mean the end of Anakin's line, not a "genocide" of every human being in the Star Wars galaxy.

I like how nobody is talking about the "girl power" moment in the last episode because that's just how natural it was. It wasnt spoon fed "women do good too!!!' It was just 4 characters who happened to be women, kicking ass and taking names. That's how you do a woman power scene. I think that was a lot more influential for children who watch it, and the incels who probably didnt notice it until later.

Unlike Endgame where they get all of the female characters to gather around each other, pose during a battle involving a device that could destroy and reconstruct the universe if it got into Thanos' hands, then all charge in at once. It felt pretty natural in Infinity War since it was 2 female characters fighting another female character in a battlefield for survival without any big obvious poses that scream "LOOK, WE'RE WOMEN ABOUT TO DO COOL SHIT!" because they just did the cool shit and moved on. The one we got in Mando was just a group of female combatants clearing a path through a ship from A to B in their own natural sequence.

Fun fact: The Mandalorian is one of the only TV shows to use virtual backgrounds. They used Unreal Engine to create backgrounds instead of green screening which would have shown up on the suit that Mando wears and would've costed more. As a virtual production artist working with this exact in-camera VFX tech on similar shows i can vouch for how exciting this approach has been for filmmaking. While it cant replace green screen for every type of shot, just being able to share and tweak a creative intent/vision with a Director live on set rather than shooting actors on a contextless green screen is so damn cool and im sure contributes in no small part to why mandalorian looks as high budget as it does

The beauty of this show is that for the most part it’s built for casual viewers. Someone who’s never seen Star Wars could watch The Mandalorian and still understand what’s going on. Yea maybe certain guest characters won’t be like these massive deals for the casual viewer but the involvement of said characters has weight to them in the story like Ahsoka. You could even watch the final scene of the season 2 finale, not know who that is yet still be in relative awe cause you know what that character’s presence means for the other characters. It’s a phenomenal show for casual fans who want to get into Star Wars and for hardcore fans who can recognize the subtle nods or outright name drops and references and enjoy those inclusions into the show. The people who make this show truly love and care for Star Wars and it’s very apparent in this series they’ve created.

Also if you think about that last scene, it's done incredibly well to bring casual viewers to the understanding of how powerful a Jedi Master really is. When we saw Mando struggle so much fighting just one dark trooper, and then see Luke just walk through them, it gives him an undeniable sense of power. Such a well done show to cater to both newcomers and long-time fans.

It's actually the perfect way to do it because, as a big time Star Wars fan, I can say that the show ties in so much of the deeper lore that I can nerd out over it more than any of the movies, but like you said it's also very friendly to new viewers because it boils down the lore and understanding all the backstories is really optional and won't stop you from following the action. For example, I liked episode two because the Krykna came from Expanded Universe and appeared in rebels, while a more casual viewer would just see the Krykna and think "damn, that's a big-ass spider". But you don't need that information to understand the scene, it just makes you enjoy it even more because it fits in the lore and its a tribute to the past.

I’m glad Prequel and OT fans can unite against a common enemy: the Sequel Trilogy. The Force Awakens was a half-decent movie but the other two were just full of crap. From what I remember in Game of Thrones, when Pedro Pascal plays “Red Viper” he uses the same “kicking the back of the spear” move fighting against the mountain in season 4 (I think). Seeing Pedro play the mando is what really hyped me up for the fighting scenes because his scene in GoT was remarkable... I gotta say they nailed it too. Then when he received the Beskar spear in ep 5 I knew it was gonna be good! EDIT: Just watched the fight scene in GoT and it was some sort of epic front kick he did onto his spear which looked awesome so not the exact same move! Still, when the mando pulled the backwards kick onto the spear it made me fall in love with Star Wars like never before as it reminded me of my second favourite series of all time (Game of Thrones) which has been dethroned by two amazing seasons of this show

The visuals are a new method they implemented with this series, it uses a giant curved LED screen for the background instead of a green screen. This way there is very little post processing/editing and the subject/foreground is always perfectly lit. (The problem with using green screens is lighting because outdoor lighting is very difficult to replicate using studio lighting.) And that is why mandalorian has the best visuals of any tv series released.

*SPOILERS FOR THE LAST EPISODE S2:E8!!!* I'm 100% honest here In the last episode when Mando picked up Baby Yoda aka Grogu and told him: *Hey, go on. That's who you belong with. He's one of your kind. I'll see you again. I promise.* I already started to tear up a little. And when he took his helmet off and said: *All right pal. It's time to go. Don't be afraid.* I slowly started to cry and it just got worse when the camera switched between Grogu and Mando and you could see how hard it was for Mando to let him go. You could see how Mandos eyes started to tear up too. It's really hard for me to get emotional when watching movies or shows and I couldn't even remember the last time I did cry because it became so emotional. But damn... The Mandalorian did it! And it was a special feeling getting so emotional I can't describe it. In my eyes Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau saved Star Wars.

OH MY GOD DUDE. I KNOW RIGHT!! Like- it hit me SO hard, the moment I realized that a stray shot must've cut a fuel line and caused a gas leak . It was beautiful that they'd show Mando's most vivid dreams while his brain shuts down, instead of having us watch him die. The way it eludes to reality with the impossible hero coming to rescue them; symbolically ridding him of all his conflict and unresolved guilt through saving him from his predicament and also shedding his burden of caring for the child; all chilling symbolism for his last fleeting moments of brain activity fading, as his whole consciousness comes to rest and peace washes over him. Such a insightful duality, he's lived his life through battle and conflict, constantly entangled in thrilling action, now to die such a peaceful and quiet death by gas inhalation. And I cant believe they killed the WHOLE cast (even the baby!) on screen like that. What a majestic and sobering ending.

If you are interested in how the production team was able to capture such amazing visuals, I recommend taking a look at Disney Gallery, a show on the making of The Mandalorian. They use a 360 degree wall of led screens to display the world around the actors instead of a full green screen filming technique. This makes it super easy to have accurate shadows and reflections on shiny surfaces, without post production editing. It also gives the actors tangible reference points that are shared so that the acting is more consistent instead of two different actors imagining a cgi threat in a similar location, they actually can look at the same thing real time.

For a not-so-big fan, Charlie hit nails on the head here. Especially: 1. Retconning the new Trilogy movies and using the TV shows as the replacement; which is a plus because you have more time to build a huge story/franchise, but also react better to feedback as you improve season to season and show to show. 2. 8 episodes but had better character development than 3 movies. Best example is Mayfield and Finn; both were ex-imperial, but one had more heart and tragic than the other. (no beef with JB, but big beef with writers/people who got their itchy hands in the script... Ahem KK.)

I really noticed that even with the filler episodes, the events that occur in those episodes are always important later in the show. Nothing is forgotten and the story is consistent. @@kila3477 The dialogues are no better than the prequels. It just sounds so forced everytime cara or fennec talk. The plot is also weird to me because most of it is made of side quests and fillers. Now I know that people hate it when others call them fillers because "that's just how the show works" but nah I'm not buying it. They will always be fillers to me, interesting or not, simply because we need the plot to be moving forward all the time if we only have 8 episodes. My final complaint is how bad they're treating mando. He used to be so badass, he still is, but during this season we learn that him not taking off his helmet is ancient bullshit, his ship is gone, a jedi took the child, he always needs help from chicks with guns, and he's appearantely a pathetic blaster magnet. He wouldn't have lasted 5 secs against those dumb stormtroopers without his bulletproof beskar armor. Anyways, as you can see, there's a lot to dislike. But after the failure of the sequels and disney setting a very low expectation, this is definitely above average. I'm totally fine with that, I also love this series, but people should still be able to see that it's not perfect.

I like the Mandalorian but I don't like how Mandalorian-and-friends and his ever growing support cast basically do 100% flawless dungeon clears against insanely incompetent Stormtroopers. I was hardly ever afraid for any character on screen at any time. I hope they get a little darker with a few deaths to add risk and danger to their situations. A darker/bleeker tone that has risk/danger is a huge contributor to why Revenge of the Sith and Rogue One were so good - in my humble opinion.

Agreed. ONe thing i never understood about blasters in star wars is why they fire so incredibly slowly. Like bullets go way faster. Even with their much slower speed, it seems quite insane how not a single one ever hits any of them. Like even if the stormtroopers are complete bots one of those shots aught to hit one of them. Idk, the fact that blaster fire can be deflected seems questionable

It's completely plausible for them to retcon the sequel trilogy and start over. They use the world between worlds before the events of episode 7 to stop palpatine from being cloned and destroy his spirit once and for all and introduce the yuuzhan vong and darth krayt. It's literally so fucking easy to comprehend and with their team of writers in star wars it could be done eloquently. They could undo rey's character even though I liked her potential initially they fucked her background up so much by making her the daughter of palpatine's clone and then make her just take up the skywalker name like it's a mantle to be taken up and not a family name. That was absolutely horrible. With the retcon they could have luke help ben solo through his struggles with the dark side by using understanding and his literal experience of going through it himself and let ben know he isn't alone in his struggle. Without palpatine there to artificially influence ben through shitty weird ass haircut snoke it would be easier for ben to stay in the light and become a strong heir to the skywalker name. He could help his uncle luke defeat the yuuzhan vong in a whole ass trilogy. Maybe they can even have luke get killed by darth krayt in an act of self sacrifice for the galaxy. Setting up ben to defeat the yuuzhan vong with luke's other students and the other masters including ahsoka tano and a young and brash grogu. They could even make finn a jedi with him being discovered by luke instead of the first order. Not all of this has to be put into film but they're good ideas that are plausible and can be executed well and that's all star wars fans ask for.
