@Gerry Buckets if u want to fight and blow shit up wait for a hulk or iron man game, the point of spider-man is that even though he is a big shot superheroes he still looks out for the little guys no matter how tedious it may be. Hence why he is called The friendly neighborhood spider-man.

Plus he's supposed to be a "friendly neighbourhood spiderman"; so those mundane missions (which, might I add, actually added more dimensions to the game) WERE necessary. If the game was 100% combat, then it'd be crap. Go and do crimes if you want that; but the fact that you also have these new types of missions on top of the combat really shows how much the game gives you

I don't think its that good. The combat is great and flashy but i dont think it's arkham level, the actual travel system is fantastic. Going around the world has never been so enjoyable and is actually the best i think of any video game ive played so far. But the stealth ain't good at all and the boss fights We're uninspired to me. The game nailed set pieces, swinging, combat and the story is cool but the pacing, stealth and puzzles take up so much space and ruin what could've been a perfect game.

@@jonwifebeaterjones6389 The puzzles only take that long if you are nine years old, the pacing is amazing story-wise and if it wasn't working for you then I have news: it's a video game, you have complete and total control over the pacing. The stealth missions were bad, yes, but they were also not even 5 minutes long each and anyone with an attention span over that of a five year old's wouldn't complain and put down the game just because of those. The game is definitely a solid 90-85.

I like the game and even if you think the game is great then you can still have critiques of it. And yes the stealth and puzzles are short but there are a lot of them in the game which stacks up the time where you do boring stuff which means the pacing is getting worse. You can't control pacing of a game if there's literally filler in there to slow down the game. Idk how you don't understand that. Like yeah i can do a puzzle in a couple of minutes or a stealth section in five or a mj mission in 10 but thats still is in the game to slow it down. I as a player can't change that. Bad pacing can happen in amazing games. One of my favorite games arkham city has some terrible filler. Like the three towers before the penguin section. No to mention that even as spiderman that's the kind of person he is, helping out no matter how insignificant the task, that's the whole point of his character and what imo, makes him the most humane super hero. I think the game really nailed that aspect.

From the way that the review played out, I feel like this game would be even better if they got the people who developed the side missions for Infamous 2 to work on the more lacking side missions in this game. Other than that, I'm putting this on my list of games to play in the coming years. =Y

When MJ had the taser or whatever I found it kind of fun cause I could actually freaking do something, but all the MJ stealth missions before that were pretty brutal. This game would be such a masterpiece without them.

I enjoyed them actually. It was a nice change of pace using a character that has no powers. It made these stealth parts feel more nerve biting and fun in my opinion.

Ceoge You don’t have to collect them though. It’s not mandatory. If you would like to get 100% then maybe. But the backpacks gives you context about what happened before the game in which it makes sense.

I only really wasn't having fun with the MJ missions tbh. Insomniac did all the stealth stuff pretty poorly. I hope in the miles morales game they either get rid of stealth missions or make them less dry and bland because after a while the stealth missions just kinda get old.

@KyTypeVibes I didnt have a problem with the missions but I see where Cr1tikal is coming from. The game forces you to do patrol instead of the main missions early on so I get why someone who just wants to finish the game wouldn't have fun plugging water pressure holes and swinging through smog.

@@dabalo3995 yeah, but that's like, ten minutes and in one of them you save that lady- I think her name is Gloria- who later shows up to FEAST and gets a job, all because Spider Man saved her and told her she should go there, which is a really minor but clever detail. The only ones that really kinda suck for me are the Harry Stations ones, but even then some of them are really awesome, like those you have to dodge lightning bolts. And the side missions are so cleverly written and get Spider Man so well as a character that I really can't help but just love them. Of course, not all of them are great, but really, not nearly as bad he made it out to be. The MJ stealth missions just straight suck though. They are tedious and most of the time they don't even progress the story, they're just a flashback. Like, who the hell thought that would be a good idea?! The only really good ones are the ones in the Terminal and in the Penthouse. Besides that it's all kinda pointless, but I will say that Miles first and last stealth missions were really great because they put us in the perspective of a normal, weak, vulnerable person being right there in the middle of that chaos, especially the first one. That was really great.

Spider-Man has always done really well in comparison to other superhero's at being relateable as a person as well. A lot of the time he just swings around the city and helps kids retrieve their balloons or runs to the top of the empire state building to jump off because he enjoys helping people and has fun doing it. He's your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man, and as much of a meme as it's become, the game really makes you feel like that.

Some people just wanted to jump into the flashy action in the game. But without those bad "mundane" missions, Spider-Man will lose its story charm, becoming another generic arcade fighting game.

I love stealth missions but i do feel its a bit too easy simply because of the whole danger/safe signal. That makes it a bit too easy to pick them out. So much so that i had to stop using it to make it more interesting. Also the enemies have that classic case of never look up syndrome. Besides that its still kinda fun for me.

They were good but they could have been better. This is the one area I think the Arkham games did better.

It’s a side quest, it honestly doesn’t really even matter what you’re doing because most of them boil down to go there beat/get this, win. The only game where side quests didn’t feel mundane and boring was the Witcher 3, and no game has even come close to touching that in terms of quality.

Same on everything you said. I've played a LOT of open world games never completed everything the open world had to offer. Felt like a chore if I tried Played this game. And I loved every second of the story and the activities. Extremely varied and fun. Only thing that was a bit repetitive was the crimes but even those were varied enough that it didnt bother me too much. First game I've completed everything in the open world and platinumed says a lot about how fun they made the game and its activities

In my opinion it's a 9.5, the Mary Jane missions brought it down from a 10, I didn't really mind the Miles one with Rhino tho. Hopefully in NG+ we can skip the stealth missions or at least just be Spider-Man and get a short explanation of what happens with in-game dialog or a text board saying what happened

@@bababouey7547 It's definitely true. It's like the eye of the storm between intense action sequences throughout the game. Time to relax in other words. This is actually what I liked about FFXV travelling from rest stop to rest stop in realtime. It gave you a chance to breath and admire the world between missions without overbearing context and lore. Just straight up down-time. It's one of the few games I could play overnight without getting a headache.

Ultimate Spider Man was my favorite Spider Man game up until this one, I had it for Gamecube. Same with SpiderMan 2, I kinda enjoyed that one. But nothing before now beat Ultimate Spider Man. The only problem with that game was that it was really short and the missions were sort of predictable, but playing as Spiderman AND Venom was badass and all the suits you could unlock in that game were pretty cool too.

I mean, no spoilers or anything, but the ending definitely hinted at a sequel. It's gonna be really hard for them to top this one though. Like how in the world would you go about improving something that is already this good?

I'd say the main thing they need to do is diversify the boss fights. Every single boss in the game feels exactly the same. You shoot webs at them to stun them, then zip in and land a few punches. rinse. repeat. Also make the story longer.

Yeah, which was like, one mission, and then you immediately go to beat Shocker's ass. Yup, super tedious first nine hours. That whole beginning with Kingpin was SO boring as well, you have no idea.

I think arkham gameplay is better tbh. The variety of gadgets that are useful or required to get through combat is much higher, the bosses are much better, the stealth is unquestionably better, the puzzles in both aren't great tbh, the variety of opponents and ways to beat them is also much better. The traveling is better in spiderman tho and the story is better than some of the games. A lot of spidermans combat and bosses boil down to evade and attack or evade and web shoot then attack. But it's done very flashy and is a lot of fun
