I was watching a US bike channel where the vlogger had problems with the GoPro 8 and ended up going back to an older model. I seem to recall reading about other people having issues as well. I still think the Sony FDR X 3000 is the best sports cam out there. Despite it being a few years old now and I've been impressed with a DJI Osmo Action.
@DeanRead
@DeanRead 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching 👍 I've found that trying to turn the GoPro off straight after a recording has finished annoys it.. it's very slow indeed so you have to give it time to catch up. It's a shame really as I've been very impressed with it other than the slow software.

Brings back memories of my summer spine sprint, light was failing as I approached Wessenden Head and I'd has a massive sense of humour failure climbing black hill. SST and a few words of encouragement from my wingman sorted me out. All in though the most memorable 16hrs and 27mins of my life... Maybe I'll jump up to the challenger at some point, who knows 🤔
@DeanRead
@DeanRead 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Martin... I'm really looking forward to tackling the challenger, I have a bit of a Pennine Way obsession. Interested to see how I deal with the fatigue and pushing myself over that distance. I know I can walk that far so it'll just be managing tiredness... Can't wait 😁
@martinyardy3213
@martinyardy3213 3 жыл бұрын
@@DeanRead although I did plenty of running during my training for the Sprint, it soon became apparent that from talking to previous spine racers that most of my time would be spent walking (and it was). Getting out and walking/running sections in the dark that you expect to do in the dark on race day pays off as well. Looking forward to watching the rest of your recce videos..

I've got some bigger days planned as the time goes on but definitely need some overnight training. I'm confident with Nav and I know the course well but tiredness may cloud my judgements 😁 Let me know if you have any more tips, I'm keen to learn from previous Spiners and Ultra Runners 👍
@martinyardy3213
@martinyardy3213 3 жыл бұрын
If you're not already, look to joint the "official spine group" on Facebook, an absolute font on knowledge form some very experienced people. But getting the nav right will definitely save you a lot of time and faff. Also kit admin, knowing where everything is in your pack/drop bag. Everything you can do to reduce faffing around and therefore stress is a massive bonus..
@DeanRead
@DeanRead 3 жыл бұрын
I'm in the group 👍 definitely agree that it's a great place to hoover up some knowledge. I've been toying with what pack to take with me but will get out for some practice trips when I decide. Will look at the kit list again and do a big day with all required stuff with food/water.

I like that you are using public transport. When we used to visit the Bakewell area, I got the bus schedule booklet and spent many hours thinking about how you would get from point A to point B using public transport. Even the last time we were there staying in Millers Dale, 2018, we took the bus from Millers Dale to Litton and then walked down to Cressbrook and then one day we parked in Tadington and took the bus into Derby to go to the Royal Derby Factor. I looked and you could have taken the bus from Hadfield to Sheffield instead of the train and it says it would be quicker. Is there a reason you are sticking to the trains?
@DeanRead
@DeanRead 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Stephen thanks for watching. There are so many options at this stage of the route, perhaps not as we get further north. We chose the train as we live near Dore Totley station and it's a longer walk from Sheffield itself. From memory the bus was sporadic on the Sunday that we did the route too as I'd looked at getting it from Crowden rather than Hadfield.
