Many thanks for these videos. I walked the PW solo in 1985 and did it north to south, stopping at B&Bs and pubs all the way. The thought of a long hot shower and delicious cooked evening meals certainly gave me something to look forward to, especially as the weather didn`t hear my prayers - rain, snow and more rain. Great experience and these videos brought back many happy memories.
@DeanReadАй бұрын
Thanks for watching Rodders, it's a spectacular route isn't it. I was glad of a bed for the night especially on the longer days. I'd love to go back and walk it North to South one day. All the best

I’m off to walk the Limestone Way tomorrow over four days, south to north, so I was interested to watch your video of the southern part of it. I enjoyed it very much, it’s very watchable, unlike some others I tried! Good to know about the fields full of cattle…I’ll watch out for those.

A wonderful encore for me. I walked that same trail about 2 months ago, spent the night at the Meanach bothy. It was very wet and freezing cold. The hike onto Forth William became a survival march after I fell in the marshes. My twisted knee is yet to heal. Great views all the way. Your time lapse has ticked the gopro as an essential for my next hikes. We also carried way too much gear! I'll probably backtrack from the bothy but....powering through feels like completing the task. Thanks for the refresh guys.👍🏿
@DeanReadАй бұрын
Thanks for watching. It sounds like your experience was pretty much the same as ours when we first started hiking in our early 20s. We carried way too much and it felt like a proper expedition. Hope your ankle is on the mend soon, next time you do the trek it will be 10 times easier with what you've learned this time. All the best. Dean

Hi Dean, cracking video! I'm racing this summer's Challenger South. Just wondering if you know offhand some of the locations on the course where you could fill up on water? I'm debating whether to invest in a filtration system too, if I think I'll struggle to make between CPs with the 3L I'll be carrying. Grateful for any thoughts...
@DeanRead2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching, you're going to have a great adventure. I took a filter with me but didn't need to use it, I managed to grab water from the Spine Safety Team (SST) out on the course on the way to CP1 easily enough. Water points aren't guaranteed though so I'd take a filter if I were you. Sometimes the team are called away to deal with an incident so it's best to have a back up. Plenty of spots to filter plus a few places along the way after CP1 at Craven Tri Club Tent near Cowling, Lothersdale (at pub), Gargrave (public toilets), Horton-in-Ribblesdale (Public Toilets, tap on front of building) not to mention the Coop at Gargrave too if you arrive within opening hours. Feel free to keep the questions coming, I work for the Spine Race now so I'll see you at Edale no doubt 👍

Funny story about the Earby Hostel when I did the PW back in 1996. All of us staying there that night went to the local pub except for one German girl who went missing. When we got back to the Hostel the male warden had locked the doors. He let us in 10 mins later with a very sheepish looking German girl re-appearing from inside.
