A 10-year-old Pennsylvania girl has been named the world's youngest opera singer. CBS News national correspondent Adriana Diaz was treated to a special performance at one of New York City's most iconic venues, the Empire State Building.

I've heard plenty and you easily could too, they're just not singing opera because most kids aren't interested

@@veganpotterthevegan if they're not singing opera then how would you know what level of mastery they have? Opera requires a different level of vocal ability than other form. So if those kids are singing pop, r&b, or country songs then they aren't demonstrating the same level of vocal ability.

@@jlv3x every type of music requires different mastery. But it's obvious she's not done developing and she has the same, expected shortcomings any kid prodigy had with vocals. She's obviously talented but she's missing the same clarity an equally vocally talented Michael Jackson was missing when he was a child

@@jlv3x I'm with you It takes a totally different skill to achieve opera singer greatness. This little sweetheart even sings in different languages on top of it all . We are so blessed to have her I can only imagine what's to come I'll definitely be watching for her I'm a fan already.

@@veganpotterthevegan you can personally ask any vocal out there and they will tell you that opera requires a mastery of vocal ability. Almost every singer you run into will say the same. I'm not saying there aren't talented child vocalists out there. I'm just saying that opera requires a vocal ability and training that most singers do not possess.

With good training she will. But her voice will change as she gets older. It may get stronger but she has to be careful too. If she is pushed too hard the gift can disappear. I hope not!

Agreed. I was pretty good as a child. Loved singing. Once I got to late teens I had a tremendous amount of power. She will too. She already has likely conquered and sung a lot of Italian opera arias. The true test, if she wants it, will be singing Wagner. If she she can do that they'll be no stopping her.
