One of my Favourite movies, I wish I could go back in time. Even with all the struggles of the time, it was a far Better world to live in than the way society is Now! Disheartened at 62 SWF finding such enjoyment in these old movies that show Real family emotions and strengths. Thank you for sharing!!

I love this gem of a movie! Tender, funny, romantic, heartbreaking, hopeful - so much humanity. Irene Dunne is luminous yet real in her role as Julie, who wanted a baby so badly. Cary Grant's Roger has an interesting arc in that he is transformed by fatherhood and marriage. His pleading with the judge brings tears to my eyes every time! So heartfelt. It's interesting that later in life, Grant finally became a father for the first time and he relished it. His daughter wrote a memoir about him and he was a wonderful dad who retired from acting so he could be there 100% to raise his daughter. "Who cares about movie making; I have a daughter to raise". Love him!

I've seen this movie about 6 times and I still love it! Even though it makes me weep 😭I love that old movies are more about feelings and life and not so much just special effects and violence.

I always felt Cary Grant deserved an Oscar for his performance. It’s the most emotional, touching and honest piece of acting in his career. I haven’t watched it for years. It always makes me cry. I wasn’t going to watch it tonight when I saw it listed, but I couldn’t resist. I cried as usual, but I’m glad I watched it just the same. I salute the man and his legend.

I second that! This is the first time I saw this...I was moved beyond words, what a treasure. It was truly like watching a couple's real life, every emotion. Cary Grant is one of my favorite great actors. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the movie, I won't ruin it for others reading, but I will say it has a wonderful ending.

He certainly deserved an Oscar at this time in his career as he had two jobs one Hollywood star the other a spy for Britain which makes me chuckle to think I am watching a real James Bond not an actor pretending to be a spy but a real life spy pretending to be an actor

Cary Grant said this was his favorite of all his movies. When it was about to be sold for airing on TV he bought the rights himself so that it could not be cut . It was common practice at that time to cut minutes from the movie to allow more commercials to be inserted & still fit into a 90 minute or 2 hour time slot. This movie already runs 2 hours and I cannot imagine any part being cut to allow for commercials. Neither could Cary Grant. He was absolutely right.I'm so glad that you presented it in it's entirety here. It's right at the top of my all time favorite movies & I love all four of the main actors. Cary Grant , Irene Dunne, Edgar Buchanan & Beulah Bondi are excellent in everything they do. Thank you so much for sharing this gem of a movie.

I loved this movie so much. I wish there were more made like this now. I went through a divorce when my baby girl was six months old. Even sharing half custody was heart wrenching, to lose your baby the way they did is too heartbreaking . Cary Grant and Irene Dunne did an amazing job. The writers are amazing too.

I think of what is going on in this world today with all the evil parents have towards their precious children and I think if every child had a father like the one Cary Grant portrays in this movie that there wouldn’t be any war anymore. He made his best films (and the most...5 films) with Katherine Hepburn. Irene Dunne was his second most leading lady with 3 films. The Awful Truth and Bringing Up Baby are my top 5 favorites. And he did My Favorite Wife with her a year or two later than this film. Man, Cary cranked out hit after hit, many Oscar winning masterpieces, from 1937-1964, with the late 30s to mid 40s being super 👌 prime. The Awful Truth, Bringing Up Baby, Suspicion, Penny Serenade, The Philadelphia Story, His Girl Friday, Arsenic and Old Lace, Notorious. Then Houseboat, To Catch A Thief, North by Northwest, Operation Petticoat, Charade, Father Goose and so many more but the aforementioned area really his gems; I'll even make concessions for Holiday (early 40s era) and An Affair To Remember (late 50s era) All of his collaborations with Hitchcock..he worked with Hitch. Definitely should've played Linus in Sabrina instead of the awful Bogey as that casting was ridiculous and Bogey was NEVER a handsome or even attractive leading male. Or had him truly play a murderer in Suspicion if Hitch hadn't gotten curbed and m censored by the damn Hayes Code which goofed up Rebecca...which was still a top classic nevertheless. Robbed of many Oscars. Shane they don't reward comedy actors. Same with Irene Dunne. They made comedy and timing look effortless which it wasn't.

I don't usually enjoy the old black and white movies, but I have a vivid memory of seeing this as a child in the 80s. It was one of those late night movies they used to show on network TV. My mom said it was a good one and cried. I held back the tears then but sobbed my eyes out just now rewatching it nearly 40 years later. I didn't expect it to touch me so much. That little giggling baby is the cutest thing I have ever laid eyes on and it's just such a sweet and tender film. The music was wonderful too... "To a Wild Rose" is a new favorite. Precious.

God knows I love this movie. You can tell why Cary Grant was a star, just by him pleading to the judge to let them have the baby, Trina.. Real tearjerker. And you can tell Irene Dunn is a classy lady, by that beautiful impeccable handwriting as well as how she looked too. And that caseworker had the most sweetest caring voice, and an understanding heart, just right for that line of work. Just a sweet tender movie, filled with love.✌

Case workers for the most part are cold heartless n crooked. Don't trust them. They have been sued too many times to count. I was a foster child I knew many they don't hide things from vulnerable child.

Such a Beautiful crafted film of sensibility, romance, emotion and sincerity. Hollywood should look in the mirror and realise what a Goldmine the Stars of the real Silver Screen were and still are, immortalised in celluloid (film) for all to laugh, cry and learn of life at it's simplest and in it's base form and how we are all born through the gift of love, through creation, trust and faith in each other. This movie is abslutelly amazing. Cary Grant's at his best for sure. This move brought me back to 1991 while visiting a client in Canada. This particular couple had lost their 2 year old little girl two years prior to our meeting. I remember the wife telling me the tragedy and how her husband got in to this huge depression. The wife asked me to intervene and help her bring her husband back from the land of the dead. The wife wanted me to remind her husband that they still had their little boy to think of; and how wife and child still needed the father/husband. As we started talking this incredible man felt in to pieces feeling as Cary Grant losing Trina. Cary Grant's mourning is absolute. What a performance.

these old films really do go deep into human emotion, the one yesterday had me singing cary grants song in bed, the day before that he had me laughing my head off, and this had me gasp for air while my heart rose , sank , and rose again, these films are just what i needed the world seems such a dark place at the moment nothing like cary grant to lift your spirits,, just wonderful

This movie is too heartbreaking. I remember crying when I saw it with my mother when I was a little girl. Now as a mother it is so sad I can't bear it. And although I understand how they tried to sort of put in a happy ending, it seems to me it would really be worse, having another child in the house always reminding you of the one who died.( I remember my mother saying that it didn't seem right either that they couldn't be happy together without a child). I can't even bear to look at other dogs more than a year after our dear dog died. People always say oh, get a new dog, but you can't just replace her, I don't want any dog, I want HER. I can't imagine what it would be like to lose a child, and just " getting a new one" is not going to help you to heal. Anyway I still love this movie. So sweet and tender, especially the Christmas play and the looks on their faces.

But it is like still loving the child who was lost too. Remember when we lost our dog, in time, you want to love another, because they are part of the dog family, that your beloved dog came from, and there are always new babies NEEDING to be loved and cared for. Nothing can last forever. So, we keep on loving....

Lovely. You’re right. I Equate it like this. Just like you can’t just get another dog.. you can’t be replaced at home. Your job can and will replace you by the end of the day if anything happened to you, unexpectedly. You’re not an individual, at your job. Your family and home life is your real life because you can’t be replaced. Let’s all remember that the individual is more important than the collective body. After all, without the individual, there is no collective body.

When someone dies it is good to grieve, but if you believe in the afterlife you know you will see them again. If a pet dies, grieve, but get another one. You can't spend your whole life in grief and no one would want you to, especially God.

I think I have watched this movie about 25 times and I absolutely love it. My favourite scene is when Cary Grant is with the judge talking about Trinas adoption. I always cry when he walks into the apartment carrying the baby. Such a wonderful movie. Thank you again. ❤

Thank you dear PizzaFlix for uploading this absolutely beautiful and moving Film. I saw it for the first time almost thirty years ago when I was twenty. Since then I never could forget it. It always makes me cry. Director George Stevens really was a man of high taste, a real Genius and a gifted human being. This film is about the main important things in life and the film teaches itself humanity. Besides that it shows true christian thinking and behavior. 24 years later George Stevens would direct the most haunting Film about Jesus Christ "The Greatest Story Ever Told", which I highly recommend. Where did you get this fine copy? For sure it was restored. Kind regards here from Germany.

Thanks so much for uploading this true tear-jerker. I had come to think that Cary Grant was purely a great comic actor, after the first 8-10 movies I've seen of him were all either outright hilarious comedies (Arsenic & Old Lace, Monkey Business) or tongue-in-cheek fast-talking funny (Charade, To Catch a Thief, His Girl Friday, Operation Petticoat, Walk Don't Run, I Was a Male War Bride). I then saw People Will Talk, which had a lot of the funny tongue-in-cheek talk, but had some serious, touching acting as well from Grant. But this is an entirely different level. He still manages to get in some of his funny lines and sharp retorts, but his serious scenes here are truly classic, led by the pleading scene with the judge. Never again will I say that Cary Grant was purely a great comic star. He was simply a super actor. The emotions he conveys purely with his eyes in this role, could not be accomplished by most actors with a 10-minute speech.

Brought back memories of raising babies. And the fear of not knowing what to do those first days, plus major lack of sleep. Little ones are truly innocent, pure, the greatest joy ever! I believe what must be true is that the Lord will be merciful to any parent who's lost a child early, and during the millennium will raise them, having that precious second chance.

Just watching the movie reminded me of my childhood. The clothing, furniture, living quarters, and cars of that era brought back memories I don't want to forget. Irene Dunne and Cary Grant were wonderful as was the little girl who played their adopted daughter. I appreciate all the skills and efforts the movie crew put into producing this great entertainment, this great family story. In particular, the ending was so appropriately healing for me to know the couple would be getting the two-year-old little boy they originally requested, that this second chance would save their love and marriage.

Thanku for this movie...a truly wonderful movie... story and sad and happy ending... both of them went through it all together and managed to pull through with a 2nd chance... 2 great leading actors .... the daughter plays her role so well and the uncle and Mrs Oliver cryd at end than was happy it ended on good note ..love our old movies this is a classic ❤

A bitter sweet movie. The part where they first get home with the baby is absolutely hilarious. I saw this many moons ago and it was a pleasure to see it again. I love Grant

Oh what a beautiful film. i started it in a bit of a cynical frame of mind but the sheer truth and sincerity swept me off my feet and by the climax it truly earnt my tears. Fit to rank with "A Christmas Carol" and "It's Wonderful life" as a work of sublime art.

Cary, Irene ,Buelah ,& Edgar were fantastic in this movie, & that little girl was so cute.& that old phonograph machine that Irene played that good music on, was just wonderful, it takes you back a ways. A truly beautiful movie. You have to be made of stone if you don't get a tear in your eye at any time in this movie... especially when Cary is so passionately begging to keep his new adopted daughter. BUT speaking of his daughter, I am really offended that the movie gets us so heavily invested in their family and then kills her off without any warning, without letting the audience even understand what's going on.

I remember crying buckets watching this with my mother as a child , she too was adopted . Cary Grant , was brilliant in this. Crying buckets again now . Brilliant movie 🎥

This made me cry when Mr Grant was pleading his case to the judge for his baby and more so how the sweet adorable baby was looking on as they was talking...boy did I cry😢😭😢😭. What a performance by Mr Cary Grant. He was so handsome too. R.I.P lovely soul you did well.

So much sister and I have been looking for this movie for years!!! we haven't seen since we were kids. This Film. My very personal fave memory that brings total recall of my handsome and funny, sweet and kind and positively too intelligent man/lover/friend, a lá 1999. And what a wonderful late summer day we shared and unexpectedly began watching this film. Tuna fish and chocolate milk lunch, breezes wafting through windows - calm and peaceful late Sunday afternoon: and this wonderfully camp, ironic yet iconic yet pristine rendition of romance and sentiment. I mean come on - we were strong 40 yr olds ready for camp and irony with the schmaltz of ‘40’s logic and protocol… After 20 min in: we talked and chuckled less. After 45 min in: we swallowed our tight throats and were mesmerized. We were now disciples of love, perseverance and grace… tears on our cheeks. luv you Lou.

@PizzaFlix Thank you very much for sharing :) Every now and then I have to watch this movie. Life really is strange. So many people take it for granted that they can have a child or two, or more while others are denied this natural gift. I was a very young mother but I have always known that a miracle was growing inside of me. I know for sure that if I wasn`t as lucky to have my own child, I would have loved an adopted one just as much as my own.

I read that Irene Dunne was known as the "First Lady of Hollywood." I can see why. She was all class and poise. Great, heart warming movie! I'm going to watch her with Cary Grant in My Favorite Wife and the Awful Truth!

I can not say why, but as Cary Grant plYed in movie it does me good. Cary is my most favoriete actor off all times. Penny Serenade is my most favoriete of him. Irene Dunne did it very good too. It's a very beautiful movie, and everytime I see the movie I have tears in my eyes. He had to win the academy award for this role...... !!! He was one off a kind.....!!! From when I was a year off 10 till now , 53, He is my most favorite actor..... You ment/mean a lot for me Archiebald Alexander Leach, Cary Grant......? 💖💜❤🧡💛💚💙💖🌈⭐🇳🇱🌹
