I love when PTX does 5 part harmony. This is one of my favorite songs in history. PTX just released their version of Creep.

By dropping the idea of percussion in this song, they get access to 5 voices and the ability to do all those sliding jazz chords with 7th and 9th chords and all the dozens of inversions that make a good jazz arrangement with so many flavors. I feel all these moving bittersweet shadings as they slide through the chord sequences. I'm assuming it was largely arranged by Ben Bram. If so, he should be so proud of this gorgeous creation.

I've been following PTX ever since they were on The Sing-Off and I have never heard this before; how in the world did I miss it? There is a video of them doing a medley of tunes from the movie that is very good, but somehow I missed this one, and it is just gorgeous. Thanks, Larry, for reviewing this spectacular version of this masterpiece for us.

This is one of my favorite songs of all time... no matter who is singing it. Pentatonix's version is simply amazing. I think the complexity of the chords in this song is stunning. I have to suspect that a couple chords here have never been sung before. Who knows. Another that is phenomenal with no percussion is Auld Lang Syne. The first time I heard that one, I was driving. I literally pulled off to the side of the road so I could listen to it again with focus. Then, when I got where I was going, I listened again under headphones... and was even MORE blown away. Anywayzz.... Great reaction! You clearly appreciate the beauty of a cappella!!

I loved your appreciation & passion for this! Ptx are master arrangers & writers on top of being (imo) the best group of singers out there today! They have many just gorgeous songs that have no music video, & reactors never get the pleasure of discovering that musical experience... Remember that when you are choosing other Ptx songs to react to. I love the song "See Through" that Mitch takes the lead on. It's simply a masterpiece imo! No music video but sooo worth a listen!!!

Hi Cutie Thank you so much. It was so sweet of you that I almost dont wanna tell you it was the wrong song 😅 I requested Pentatonix Over the river. Not over the rainbow. But Pentatonix is Pentatonix. So you cant go wrong with any of their songs. I have hade some trubbel with my heart again. New medicine doesnt work as good as we hoped. But Im hanging in there. Im waiting for the "all clear" to start going to a naturerehab where I three days a week go to a farm. I can do small stuff on the farm if Im having a good day but my purpose is to be in nature, be with the animal and just relax and find energy. Thank you for beeing my friend 🦋💛

Chris, spot on "simply complex". This is the key to why this works so well. This song always reminds me of "Twisted Lyrics" (Brits of a certain age will understand). "Some where over the rainbow, weigh a pie".

For some reason, my mind always confuses the end of this song with When You Wish Upon A Star, where Kirstin has the final lead, but at the very end, takes her solo line EXTREMELY high. I keep expecting on that last note that she'll break it up an octave like she does in When You Wish...and of course, she never does. When You Wish also has Matt using his falsetto, and going REALLY high with it as well. Might be worth a listen if you haven't already heard it.

Love your PTX reactions. I've got one that's a little off of what I think you do. But can you do a reaction to Eddie Van Halens Eruption live? I grew up with those guys in SoCal and saw them play before they ever got a record contract. And I may be bias but Eddie is the greatest rock and roll guitar player ever..... period! RIP Eddie.

@@Russ_Keith Yes! I'm familiar with that. If my recall is correct that is a Jacob Collier arrangement . . . (? ?) Would have loved to see them all perform that together. I think it was recorded separately, though, like many of their colabs are.

@@tthom2459 As far as I know the lineup didn't change from 1979 when Cheryl Bentyne joined until 2014 when Tim Hauser died and a replacement had to be found for him although both Tim and Cheryl had to be replaced temporarily during performances in the early 2010s while they underwent medical procedures, There is still one album released in 2022 called "50" marking the 50th anniversary of the band. that I've yet to get around to checking out. What I will say is that Junction, the last album by them that I have, is as good (my opinion) as anything they've done before and that includes my favourite Extensions.

Hi there, I'm back! I thought I'd never be able to post a comment again. Some latest events got me... before I even realized I fall back to where I was a year ago. Wasn't expecting something to hit me THAT hard. I even canceled last weeks therapy session... but the thing that hurt the most was watching your latest videos with tears in my eyes knowing that I messed up again. I wrote a comment to every one of them to share, to remind myself that I'm not alone and I got some lovely people here but never posted any of it because I was too embarrassed. I know you're probably tired of reading my sad comments already but thanks again. I forgave myself already and slowly pushing onward. And of course, I loved the reaction again! (as well as the last few ones that I didn't comment 🙂)

Wow, I know it’s really hard. Did you know that you aren’t alone? You have a ton of folks here that are pulling for you. The guilt trip we place on ourselves is sometimes even worse than the vice itself as it will try to rule and reign and prevent you from trying. Keep on pressing forward. There is a Bible verse that comes to mind. “There is nothing uncommon with man”. There are many that will relate with you. You don’t have to travel that road alone. I KNOW you’ve got this. I would never tire of hearing how you’re doing, good or bad. Praying for you my friend.

Hey Larry! Still enjoying the reaction video’s you make, i really do appreciate it. I have a suggestion, this is a song written by Five Finger Death Punch. This song is about American veterans and about raising awareness for the horrible situations and state these veterans are in. As you might’ve guessed by their name, 5FDP is a rock band, so i thought that would be a nice different path to wander for you too! The song is called Wrong side of heaven. “I hope you get this man, hit me back just to check” 😉
