Why does this remind me.. I went to a Pentecostal church up in Alaska and there were youth services going on at night. Well, one of the pastors was leaving the church so they held a “funeral” for him- everyone went in and he had a memorial up in front of the church (it was absolutely ridiculous lolol) THEN AT THE END A HANDFUL OF GUYS WITH A CASKET WALKED OUT OF ONE OF THE ENTRANCES AND WALKED AROUND THE ENTIRE AREA BEFORE LEAVING- AND ONE OF THE HALF DROPPED IT AT THE END! Most denominations do not really trust in the Gospel we read in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, and this is the tragedy of the last days church in that they have chosen the wide path that leads to destruction.

@@K1ng_ib it's basically minor theological things being debated over centuries that gave them minor differences on each other. it's move because people are so passionate about this whole Christianity thing they want to prove their theology but practice not to be divided. like siblings you and a brother may have different opinion and understanding about something but you still stay as a family. the entire denomination things may be different in some ways. it's only part of 2 categories "the Protestants" and "the Catholics" there is a lot more denominations in the protestants because there are so many of them. the core of Protestants is that Salvation is just putting Faith(Trusting with evidence) on the fact that Jesus died on the cross for the payment of sins of the world. acceptance of this payment is salvation you don't have to do anything else like that criminal on the cross next to Jesus who only asked to rememberhim because he knew Jesus was who he said he was and only asked mercy to remember him after they both die. but Jesus said “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.” meaning from his faith alone he was saved. not to say everyone has a false understanding or false preaching within the protestants i'f they are teaching something against the core truths they are not Christians in the first place. but they are only divided with the Catholics because Catholics believes you have to be a Good person to be saved which is biblically impossible for man to be "good" because if in a court of law if you commit a crime no amount of good you make will do; if you come to court you will still go to jail for your crimes not your good works. Catholics have their own denominations, and islam, people will have disagreements especially in that long of a time. it's fine to debate about this but not be divided as “iron sharpens iron,”(Prov 27:17) we are encourage to Question the bible for it's authenticity question every teaching in it, and from it, and question our faith. in this we can sharpen our understandings and deepen our Trust with the evidence we find. but again never to be divided in this minor non-issue. (Rom 3:23, Rom 6:23, John 3:16-20, Eph 2:8-9, Luke 23:32-55)

Without my parents ever speaking a word against it, I knew deep down in my spirit, even from the age of ~5 that I better not participate in that. I was friends with the pastor's son who was exactly my age. They had a huge house, a 3-door separate and enclosed garage with its own upstairs portion, and of course the shiniest new vehicles. And all of that was literally just for the pastor, his wife, and his son; 3 people. Now keep in mind this was a small down church and most people in the congregation lived out in the sticks, a lot of them in trailers. And then when I was about ~10 the pastor left the church for the sake of pastoring another bigger church in an affluent area.

I saves so many ppl all the time. I think the my new greatest argument to atheists that question of god is real, just look at the people that he’s saved. There’s ALL kinds of people that convert to Christianity from all different walks of life. From 5 year old kids to 90 year olds. From prisoners, to judges, to even Roman Emperors. When you personally know someone that was addicted to drugs, or egoistical, lustful, greedy, etc and they suddenly have this 180. It’s just so obviously a higher power. The work of God.

Do they handle rattlesnakes and drink poison at your church? Most where I'm from do these things, and use Mark 16:17-18 as their justification for doing it. The states of Tennessee, Virginia, and Kentucky all have laws that had to be made against this explicitly because of people dying in these churches. For whatever reason, West Virginia is the only state that thought it was a good idea to make the practice legal.

They literally told me it'll feel like I'm faking it at first, but that's just the devil giving me doubts. That was the exact moment I lost my faith. Some churches preached that anyone wearing jewelry was a sinner (church teaching, not Biblical). Almost all of the Pentecostal churches said that speaking in tongues was proof of your salvation. This, too, is not based in scripture. Most of the passages in the Bible they used came from a select few books of the Bible, and because of this, the Bible’s I carried to church had notes, scriptures underlined, or highlighted from just those chapters. Most of my Bibles were unmarked and unread. I visited another type of church (non-denominational) and the pastor challenged us to read the Bible every day until we had read it in its entirety. I started in 2004 and never stopped. I am now on my 15th time. I use Strong’s Concordance, a copy of the Septuagint, and numerous genuine references. I have read the KJV, NKJV, RSV, and several others. I do not say this to brag; I should know much more than I do, but I study to show myself approved by Him - and shun profane and vain babbling. (2 Timothy 2:15-16). Unlike another commented, I am anything BUT a prideful Christian with a superiority complex. I am a sinner saved by His grace, and because of this, I am FREE. I now have the joy of walking with Him, even though I am not worthy. I believe in the gifts of the Spirit (healing, for example), but I do not worship those who have been given the gift; the praise belongs to God, not Benny Hinn or those like him.

Anyway, I like and understand your testimony. I would suggest studying the NASB as it is THE MOST ACCURATE from the original Hebrew and Greek. There are limits, imo, on how a Pentecostal church should function, which are clearly outlined in scripture. Speaking in tongues is a spiritual gift, fact. It should only be done during church under very specific circumstances, as you know. But it is not to be mocked or shunned. It is to be understood. IT IS BIBLICAL and scriptural. Please don't act as the world does, in grouping people with labels, judging entire categories of things off a few examples, making decisions based on the worst of us. Seek and you shall find, but I suggest rereading the gospels and acts. You don't need a league of study guides and the septuguant. Just get an NASB study bible. I just pray that God would give you the mind of a Berean.
