You ever work with the public? Until you do you'll never know. They're terrible people.

Retail workers get shit on every day. Of course they’re quitting. And the same people complaining about nobody wanting to work retail are the same ones that treat retail workers like shit lol

Customers can be so rude, both my teenage daughters have been verbally abused, usually by middle age women trying to return an item they likely knew could not be returned anyway. No receipt, beyond the exchange date, or used. One worked at Bed Bath and Beyond and literally quit on the spot, left during her shift after a customer berated, called her names and poked their fingers at her over store return policies. Why do people think attacking the low level cashier is going to help over a corporate policy? Why is an 18 year old your verbal punching bag? We see it with flight attendants but there are a lot of miserable people walking around looking for targets.

Good for that young woman for leaving what was essentially an abusive environment and finding something better for herself. That took a lot of guts!

@Clarence Spangle I'm not sure what your point is. (I'm unemployed and would rather die than buy an iPhone.) Who can be pure, in this world? You'd have to wipe your arse with leaves and subsist on what you conjure up from garbage bins. Is that how you live? Or do you look after yourself and those you love, trying to make the long slide into oblivion a little less unpleasant for those around you. If you have another solution, I'd love to hear it.

They are very rude. 10 years retail. We get absolutely no respect. Even from our company. Taking our incentives our vendors was giving us. Now the incentive is through the company and the goals they give us is impossible smh

we had an announcement today that they are getting rid of our commission. I used to make 10 a hour plus five percent commission. Now they are trying to just give us an hourly wage. Three people on my team left. And I am leaving as well. They still want us to sale our hearts out but for 14 dollars a hour. I have a full time job so I can leave when I want

Retail made me hate the public it made me so miserable it made me lose motivation to do anything. I would work a full time job 50 hours a week no time to relax no time for anything.

Yeah I feel like my work site had been understaffed and under managed since the pandemic and I really am starting to not really care because I feel more like a robot than a human being and I don't have greener pastures to go to if I did I'd quit right away and never look back. Someone else can deal with the crazy customer trying to break into the break room because he heard a noise, someone else can deal with customers asking for stuff they saw somewhere else. Like I just want this nightmare to end.

I left Best Buy after almost one year of working in NJ store . I left from I wasn't getting the respect I needed . I had a panic attack when I got home due to all the stress in one day .I work at check out store pick and customer serve . A good amount of the day i was on my own close to a month . I'm suppose to have someone with me but store manger keeps pulling to go to mobile and Computers and someday my manger at check out who have to and help out other department . I would get help after a huge line . all because we are short staff I didn't ask for a higher raise . Took zero sick days .If thing was better and we have plenty of help I would still work at best buy . But had a mental breakdown and almost had two black out in a month . And to get this I was alone to check the total close 90 - 100 times. And this is why we wish we have more entry level jobs besides retail . Like how why is trying to work in a office asking 5 years of office experience for an entry level job is for someone who got out of college/ high school

No surprise here. I can’t say I blame them. Move on and move up. With on-line shopping there will be fewer positions anyway.

These people are trapped. They are living paycheck to paycheck and don't have the means to take a month or two off to reassess life and game plan. And the system knows this.

I can tell you why. I wonder the same thing. Because they got comfortable, complacent and used to it. I currently work for Target and 3 of my co-workers been there 10,13 and 17 years. One of my managers has an associate's degree in business and tons of experience to where he can easily command $20 an hour. Me and another co-worker already said that he's not going anywhere because he got comfortable working retail. A few of my managers have educations (master's degrees) working for Target. I'm overqualified to be working in a retail store as well but the difference between me and a lot of my co-workers is the fact that I'm in the process of looking and leaving for better. I refuse to settle for menial work and menial pay when I know damn well I deserve better. To me retail is one of those in between jobs, a bridge to something better. Retail was never designed to be a career.
