I think that Air Drake has a skull due to the fact that the higher you get the colder it will be. I believe that it adapted the no skin no eyes on the face so that it can reduce the potential for frost bite on their face since it leads with its face. I can see why it has the fur on its neck and arms.

rubinzoo mentioned that kadregrin is the infernal drake. In his lore he is called the infernal and drake of red mountain. So i think the only elemental drake we didnt get yet is hextech drake.

As someone who adores League's lore for its dragons, I'm so hyped for LoR's further expansion of dragons. Seeing Riot care about this side of the lore makes me so happy, and I hope the new hatchling dragon champ will continue to help grow excitement around dragons and their place in Runeterra!!! And just... the Elder Drake as a card is absolutely amazing.

Just to clarify a mistake, Alatis the Gallant is the name of the dragon that the "Dragon Allegiant" is riding, so the two cards show the same characters. Necrit mentions them as if Alatis is the rider, and the Dragon Allegiant is a follower. It's wrong.

To be fair to Riot, we've said probably around 10 million times "There's no way they can do X and make it work. It's been tried so many times before and it's always been a disaster" and they managed to knock it out of the park every time. So I wouldn't exactly give up hope on the raids. It's gonna be difficult to implement, but if there's one company that might find a way, it's definitely Riot

Speaking of Elder Drake raid, Guild Wars 2 has a lot of massive dragon fights. There could be a bit inspiration from there :o

Necrit, you should check out Guild Wars 2 and its handling of dragon fights. Almost the entire game is based on killing these ancient cataclysmic and giant dragons, a lot of things were explored that can shed more light on how a fight against such a giant enemy could be properly carried out.

The best way to do a giant monster battle raid like Elder Dragon is to have an NPC be the "tank" for the fight. Someone titanic enough and important enough to battle the Elder dragon head on, with assistance from players doing objectives on the sides of the battle. Lets say theres some enemy group trapping some dragon wyrms with magic. If we defeat the groups, we can ride those wyrms into battle to assist against Elder. A grandios battle that is so large, we're just supporting characters.

Infernal drake is the game already as Kadregrin, the Infernal.

Guild wars 2 have many great giant dragon fights. In those fights there are no tanks, as the dragons attacks are so massive it does not focus them on a single target.

I think fighting massive dragons like this was really well done in GW2, where for example one whole map is basically on top of one

Necrit, it wouldn't be so hard to pull off an Elder Dragon fight, we've seen it be pulled off in Lost Ark. I think it's no coincidence that we had the former director talk with one of the content creators from the Lost Ark community. A lot of these larger than life raids do REALLY WELL in isometric RPGs because you can just take the camera further from the characters and it doesn't hurt the overall gameplay!

I feel like, the raid for the Elder Dragon would be similar to Safi'jiiva from Monster Hunter, where it's an instanced global raid, set for a short amount of time. And in the instance, rather than defeating Elder Drag, you damage him enough for him to leave. Drops might be scales or talons or etc... and weapons/armor craftable with those materials gained at the end of each raid. The better the groups do, the better the rewards are. Yea, Elder might be a bit TOO big but with a decent camera shift, it could potentially work.

For reference, Guild Wars 2 has some awesome world boss fights with giant dragons.

Guild Wars 2 did massive dragon fights very well in my opinion, a server wide world boss would be fantastic for something like that.

They could make elder dragon a raid by making so every player gets temporary draconic/or other flying mount which could cooperate with your character skills. And whole battle would be you flying around or landing and simply shooting at it, binding it with chains etc. Taunting it could be done by attacking the head as that would grab most attention from it, capture would work by using some magical runes, patriciate chains etc. Of course it is hard to believe that something like that could be implemented in mmo. It could have abilities like: -shooting beams of fire which deals massive damage in a beam. -shooting the ground which spreads flames everywhere around the ground. -swinging it tails and claws which would have massive knockback or/and make you fall to the ground and maybe even require you to run back to your mount -swinging it's wings which would not damage it but push everyone back/ knock people of the mounts/ push everyone to the ground etc. -roar that summons draconic minions, knock backs players -some shattering of earth - It could do massive roll on the ground which could flatten players that would be to close to it, or on the ground

One Great idea i think would be that in the story one of the preparations for the fight would be building demacian anti magic constructs that can be piloted by players. Kinda like mechs. So the Tanks during the battle take position in the Demacian Mechs to fight the Elder Dragon eye to eye while the other players are this massiv horde at the feet of the dragon needing to dodge his feet and fire all they got.

i mean, they could make the elder fight happen, by making a specific skill for tanks that block an aoe attack, that blocks the claw attacks of the dragon that would cosume maybe 50% of the tanks mana pool, meaning they will need multiple tanks and smashing a million damage dealers on top of that, because the elder dragon would most likely have a massive hp pool

1:19 Guild Wars 2 has this kind of boss fights with massive deagons who fully stand on the same ground as you. And yes it looks just like the picture we see behind (well almost, since the dragons are a little bit smaller than what we see here) so yes it's very much been done and possible. Though it's up to riot how they implement it.

@1:20 it is actually possible. In the MMO Tera, there was a raid for 20-30 people with a dragon of this size. we were split in 5 teams, one for each leg and one for the head (that's where the tank was) it was epic!

A way that rito could do the raid would be that a quest needs to be done to even open the raid, something with bandlecity and getting the help of a mage (maybe lulu) to do size magic and make the elder drake not so massive Perhaps the start of the raid Elder is in his full size and there would be some encounter, getting past him, bringing him down with balistas/canons so that someone like Lulu could shrink him for a while (insert enrage timer)

Lotro has a nice dragon fight. It holds holes on the cave, so you attack its paws, it falls and you can attack its belly. At the end it dies trying to scape the cave, a rock falls and pierces it.

The Ocean drake sort of feels like a pelican, which makes sense when it feeds on fish

Kadgregin, the infernal who was added with shyvana some years ago is the infernal drake. Only the hextech drake is missing. And possibly the Ice drake from Wild rift now that I think about it.

The one thing that I can think of talking about elder drake raid is to do it like boss fight in monster hunter. And I'm not talking about just big monsters, I am talking about monster hunter world the main boss fight. The dragon was so big, that at first you are tasked to fire canons and trebuchets from a distance at it. But eventually you fly over and land on it. And the whole monster/dragon becomes the map. The ever changing dungeon. And you need to move to his weak point and damage it before it does something. Because realistically dragon that bug wouldn't notice you if you would walk on it. But it would notice if you deal damage to it somehow. So I thing something like this would work really well.

Maybe they can do it like SWTOR where you have the world bosses and 6 healers are healing one guy because the dragon is focusing him or some kind of barriers and such. Interrupts, covers, I dunno

one of the best way to fight a massive boss is having the boss do swoop attacks that the team needs to survive, than they all punch a magical cannon, that stores all damage taken and shoots the boss with it. demacia is against magic tho, so that would be weird here

Actually as far as size in an mmo is concerned you might want to check out GW2 and the Dragon's Stand event final boss. Mordremoth's outdoor event/world boss' model is silly huge and they "kinda" get it to work.

When i think of giant creature fights like that i go to dragon soul (which i thought was a great way of doing that) and moreso monster hunter with some of its giant creature fights. I strongly hope they just make a fun scenario to fight it instead of direct fighting like a normal rpg, one of the best ways to make a game is putting fun variation into the gameplay

If you haven't played or seen Dragon Nest, the dragon boss raid fights there are awesome. My favorite would be the Sea Dragon and the Green Dragon, stage transitions are so cool. If Riot knows the existence of Dragon Nest and they are putting Dragons in their game, they should take note on that game because they did it so well.

i think you should check out the monster size in final fantasy 14 online mostly the dragons there there size are still very massive and i think it can still work for league's MMO as they may also lean to it so raiding the elder dragon is still a possibility and i can see why everyone is sending you messages for this dragon so Elder dragon raid on the way XD

I would also say that dragon fights can still be insanely cool (if you look at Dragonflight, Raszageth and Fyrakk) but yeah maybe that’s just me coping that we’ll eventually be able to fight the Elder Dragon!

they should have the boss fight have some legendary characters that could fight the dragon like Bard or Sylas and Lux. Another cool idea would be to have faction dependant champs show up for the fights.

I think a cool "raid" idea for the elder dragon could maybe be something monster hunter world siege-esque. I mean in the Safi'jiva fight we are also fighting a dragon 10x the size of the average hunter

it's said that the infernal drake is kadregrin. also, people believe that boadir is the queen of the dragons (the one who slept with the elder drake) since it's also massive in size (in her art she's much bigger than frozen thralls, which are much bigger than humans)

The new champion can't be the child of the elder dragon unless it has some kind of special interactions with dragons like Iven does with camps or it gets empowered by killing his kind like shivana does which I don't know how to feel about😅 If it does have an interactions with dragons it'd have to be something balanceable or objective fighting would be a nightmare

We dont know who made the Chemtech Drake, but i think we can guess what kind of Drake it was previously. He look very much like an Ocean Drake.

Imagine if the Elder dragon MMO raid required players to be mounted on their own dragons and it was an aerial raid up in the clouds. That'd be cool.

I mean, a good way they could do Elder Dragon while keeping the scale of it is you have you attack his claws, his tail, and finally his head after shooting these massive harpoon ballistas to drag him down that after each piece, he breaks free from. You know, have just moments when you have to avoid massive boss AoEs while dealing with adds before your time to harpoon him and drag him down and the whaling on that pieces that changes his attack pattern once you break it.

1:30 that's why a Prelude to the raid would be getting Lulu to side with defeating the Elder Dragon.😂😂😂 She could polymorph 1 tank model for specific parts of the encounter so the his size can match it and the fight could have scale.

massive raid bosses are doable with the proper set pieces, no? the encounter could be designed more like a siege with various tools/war machines rather than a traditional boss fight. Might be lame to some but I think it'd be cool if done well. A mullti-layered encounter with smaller or reasonably sized bosses sprinkled in?

Regarding the elder raid in mmo. It is possible if we can tame dragons and you have to tame a dragon in order to participate in the raid. Also it would be like a huge raid that would require hundreds of players, maybe even a thousand or more
