Fishing over the underwater remains of a village submerged nearly 100 years ago when Haweswater reservoir was formed - and two villages were left below the water level. This structure proved to be excellent for catching BIG perch. Caught two personal best fish in the space of about 90 minutes. Lake district fishing at its finest, with an incredible backdrop.

Wow. I'm only a minute and I'm taken back to the early 80s when I was a kid. Mardale had been revealed and I stood right where you are filming. Back then there was the remains of an old mangle on one of those 'rooms'.

I've had some massive trout and perch out of Haweswater. Won't see better perch anywhere in the UK if you get into the big ones. Very very luicky to be getting a bite on your first cast, I've fished with mates who have blanked over 2 days on there.

Just found your channel - thank you. One quick question, I always hold the rod perpendicular to the line when fishing, so that if I get a savage take, the rod flexes and absorbs some of the shock -how come you don't?
@adventurefishinguk
@adventurefishinguk 3 жыл бұрын
Usually when I’m perch or trout fishing as soon as I feel any sort of bite I strike! The places like these I fish there aren’t many fish above 2lb so it isn’t a problem. With pike fishing it’s a bit different though! All down to personal preference I guess. Hope you enjoyed the video regardless!

Can't get enough of these Lake District videos. Out of interest, when your fishing "light" like this what line do you use? Also though your fishing for perch/trout do you use a trace/leader in case a Pike shows up?
@adventurefishinguk
@adventurefishinguk 2 жыл бұрын
I use 6 or 8 pound maxima chameleon mono most of the time mate! I never use a leader on this lake because there’s no pike in there really, or none that have ever been proved to have been caught. I sometimes use a trace if fishing light on other lakes but it depends what size lures I’m using. Micro jigs than are only a couple of cms long I don’t usually bother but any perch/trout lures that are bigger I’ll get a 15lb wire trace on just in case! Glad you’re enjoying the videos mate and thanks for the comment!

@adventurefishinguk
@adventurefishinguk 2 жыл бұрын
Savage gear rotex spinners are a great place to start along with the savage gear hornet 3.5cm if you have a rod light enough to cast them. Those two lures will be irresistible for any perch and trout in there

Personally I like helping other people catch fish too rather than keeping it to myself. This is because I find my fishing locations myself and do a lot of exploring, I don’t mind sharing what I find! This was the first place I tried on a huge lake so I’m sure it won’t do any harm. I get what you mean though, if someone told me a place to go to and keep quiet I absolutely would but as I find them myself through trial and error I’m happy to make videos on my experiences!

Nice video, but I have to tell you there are ABSOLUTELY NO pike in Haweswater what so ever. I have fished it hard in the last 15 or so years, using spinners, fly & worms & talked to a lot of other people about who have fished it a lot as far back as the 1970's & nobody has had or seen any pike. On the plus side, I have caught 2 char on different occasions from the bank, both were total flukes, but they all count. Keep on making the videos!!!
@adventurefishinguk
@adventurefishinguk 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment mate I really appreciate it! I've not heard of a pike being caught in their either, just saw it online + thought it would be logical to assume there were a few in there! Would I be right in assuming where i was fishing is the best perch location? I hope to go back in summer and fish near the dam wall for trout. It would be a dream come true for me to accidentally catch a char from the bank!
@edmundbenson3249
@edmundbenson3249 3 жыл бұрын
@@adventurefishinguk You can pick the perch up all over Haweswater, but I'd say go over to Riggindale over the hill & past the woods, its a lot shallower with an earthen grassy bottom & can be a bit more sheltered when the wind is blowing. If you want to catch some trout you'll need to go earlier in the season but not too early as it is at 700ft & a very cold place especially when the wind is blowing over High Street. The trout tend to disappear mid May as it warms up & at the same time the perch move into the shallows. Do your best. Also, on another subject, Goats Water hasn't got any char in it anymore due to the acid rain of the 70's & 80's, but I believe they could well still be some in Blind Tarn, all be it, very small ones. I know on your Blind Tarn video you wanted to know how the trout & char got up there, they were most likely taken up by copper & slate miners back in the day (there was a slate mine right next to the tarn)
