They are impressive for their ability to resolve music to a very high level but they do it in a smooth, easy going way, however you have the ability to change that to suit you and your room with a comprehensive set of sound adjustment controls.

First thing I thought when I read about the FT Borg was.. Hmmm.. integrating that big cone with an Air Motion Transformer won't be easy..... But by all accounts and this review... Mission accomplished. ... Nice subject matter for this content...... 👍🏻

By the look of them ( & sound) these are speakers to die for, pun intended. They're also speakers for fans of ST 2nd generation. The Borg speakers literally have the shape of the Borg's regenerative station . Yeah I know, I'm making too much of their coffin shape. Thanks Jay

Also i think the best affordable speakers are : Wharfedale Diamond 11 series , EVO series and Elysian series designed by Peter Comeau. They sound and look like speakers that cost 3 or 4 times more , they are unique and very good built. i have spoken !

Amazing review as usual. Judging from the sound demo, these sound very forward (maybe this relates to the adjustments in the back of the speakers). I wish there was a little bit of sparkling highs.

That is a very interesting point, I remember years ago saying the same to someone and they said are there any sparkling highs in real life? Its a point worth noting. Its also not a forward sounding speaker, its the opposite, check the measurements what your hearing in the sound demo is the speed and resolution of the speaker, and how free the sound is of the speaker not a forward presentation even with the settings turn up a bit - I made that point to emphasise the ability to adjust the sound which is very unique

Listening to the comparison between the Piaga and the Borg I think the Borg's would suit my taste better, with the AMT tweeters being sweeter sounding. My preference in sound for a speaker would be a sweet slightly rolled off treble, a full rich mid range and deep punchy bass without being boomy. Great full in depth review once again Terry. Price for the Borg's are way out of my range. £4000 would be the maximum budget for me for speaker's. I'll probably buy a good second hand high end pair when the time is right or should I say when the wife allows me to 🤔

Nice review man, thats what im talking about they looks great they sound good but not my taste i find them a little monitor like, i love tube like richness and for me they sound little flat (no instruments or vocals fighting for your attention) as u said they just relaxed. I was always a Tannoy fan but when i heard Audio Physic Virgos i exactly knew this is the right speaker for me, still dont have it because they pretty expensive for me but thats change soon :) But this coffins they just look so different. Wonder if u like piegas more, from the demo the piegas have crystal clear presentation with a little bit forwarded mid-top (not bright or harsch) just more airy i think, hard to judge from YT videos and i never heard them. Thank you for great review and other perspective to them.

Its not that hard to judge from YT because that is about right. Some of the difference was me setting up of the product in the next video, I had the Borg setup better than the Piega, still the big Borg naturally present a big full sound - when you have big and full sound it warms up the sound a lot - a leaner sound will always sound like it has more sharpness and clarity but that doesn't mean that it does, it actually might have less clarity elsewhere such as in the lower mids and bass. Tough one

Hi from your review and what you are telling us these speakers are top notch ,personally I don’t go by the sound demos ,and listening via KZfaq isn’t the way ,and doesn’t give a true sound ,go get the speaker your interested and listen to it properly ,with your own equipment ,this speaker has an unusual look ,some may say it looks like a child’s coffin ,but I think it’s looks like a piece of sculptured stone from the sagrada familia in Barcelona ,a very unique style ,and could be a bit of putting for some . For me I’m a great believer in keeping the music natural ,even though I’ve got dirac ,for music I prefer it without . Great review a pleasure to listen to 👍😷

If your using Dirac to undo the negatives of the room - those negatives are the same regardless of what your listening to music or movies or the news - its all the same. Its how you use it thats key or if you want your music to have room sound added to it, some people do, I dont

@@PursuitPerfectSystem I only use Dirac with movies as my system was calibrated just for this purpose ,as my setup is 7.4.1 ,arcam av860 ,I assume the reason arcams new avr/av allows more than one dirac calibration ,so one for multi channel and then for 2 channel ,I just feel dirac doesn’t give so much for 2channel ,I supposed your reply will be depends and the calibrator ,and that’s fair enough ,but if it’s calibrated for 11 channel it not going to be right for 2 channel 😷

@@soundadvice8669 its one calibration for all unless you have a drop down screen that fits infront of the speakers and then it makes sense to have more than one. If an arcam sounds better for music with dirac off its not set right, its not been set with music in mind - it doesn't matter how many channels that doesnt make any difference there is an optimal performance window for the system and its the same for music & movies. get the music right guess what the movies sound better too for that exact reason. I have learned how important this is over last couple of years of calibrating all different manner of systems. If someone says 2 channel is important to them I spend all my time on getting that right before I even start on the home cinema side of the calibration

Let me better explain for anyone reading this down the line - Dirac is not a "thing" its a tool, a tool to try and give you a more balanced and even frequency reponse for a more balanced and even sound. More like how a speaker is designed than how your room makes it sound - that is a grey area but that is the theory. The first question or situation is what is an even and what is a balanced sound and therefore what is the target? - this is mis understood I think. The second question is what is the system that dirac is in capable of and what are its limitations. Dirac does not know these things, it does not know what kit is being used, what speakers in what room, it doesn't know if the subwoofers are on the floor or in the walls so it looks to set a standard that is generally acceptable in most rooms and sounds pleasant in the main. Where the skill comes in is the human touch to push the system around using Dirac to find the optimal performance window - that is the same for 2 channel as multichannel. The optimal performance window is the fine line between what the system and room can do and what it can't and believe me in every system and room this is a very line that doesnt present it itself easily - its like a jigsaw puzzle you put together piece by piece which is why sometimes calibrations take me as many as 10 hours to do. But when you find it and unlock the potential its obvious and preference to some degree goes away. Where the skill is for multi channel is the overall sound integration which is mostly the subwoofer and speaker integration which pretty much always has room for improvement- hence Dirac Bass Control and what that is trying to do. This is hard and more often than not totally wrong in most systems I hear - when people talk about room shaking bass its normally a sign they have this wrong to me among others like bass is not kicking me enough. Then you have personal preference to consider and the balancing of the sound to the other system components like different sources etc. Nornally the reason movies sound good and music not is literally the sound has not been balanced correctly in Dirac for the points mentioned above and also its possible to over do it - Dirac strips away a lot of "fat" you don't want "fat" ideally but sometimes you need a bit of "fat" on the sound to make it more pleasing - its not better sound its worse but its more pleasing - that is again why sometimes people prefer it off. If you set Dirac correct you lose nothing and gain the benefits Dirac gives you like improved clarity focus timing and soundstage organisation - with a less shouty sound

@@PursuitPerfectSystem Hi thanks for the detailed info ,but all I was saying I prefer the sound without dirac whilst listening to 2 channel music ,I stream all my music via Play-Fi as I’m using amazon hd and find using the Play-Fi app has a far better sound than the Amazon app ,and yes it’s all ultra hd ,I use my arcam av860 in the digital mode although I’m not into branded cables ,from my arcam rplay to the av860 I do use an chord epic digital cable ,not saying it’s better or worse than any others ,but I think it’s doing a great job ,plus I got a great price . Referring to Dirac it was done by myself using the minidsp umik-1 found it enjoyable .but it quite complex ,I’m intrigued to see how different it could be by someone who knows Dirac and it’s capability’s 😷

They look interesting and obviously are good but I can't help but think a nice soft dome midrange in there would finish them off perfectly rather than the big compromise of trying to force the tweeter come down to mids and force the bass driver to go up to mids? For the money size and weight there's no excuse not to be 3 way IMHO. You can't beat a nice big woofer though. No multiple 5" woofer jobbies come close to a good 10 incher! It's a different type of bass you (and the room) can feel.

hi! I think they're a bit overpriced 10 to 12000 maybe, who makes the Bass Driver? Why the ugly coffin shape they could have made it round but of course that is not so easy to manufacture necessarily! if they cut off the tweeter box section would have been better as well but there you go. There's no reason why the good at men to women tweed to go to to 2300 kHz. You can get a nice pair of ATCa's for that price or pmc. Used MDF do you know the damping material some gel like material how thick is the whole cabinet. If and get in a bath towels and laying it over the speaker sides

yeah where abouts are you based? Well you should know then the shape you chosen is not an ideal design acoustically and aesthetically. I can see the benefits of what you trying to achieve but is the execution correct no. Well I know you have overhead I don't know how big your facility is I'm just looking at materials in the pricing and labour I'm not taking into account building rates and other expenses, I thought you were abroad no! Can't really judge from a sound test as you should never do anyway, but quite good voicing seems like reminds me of an old pair of Sony's mtm i redesigned crossover years ago when I was a kid. Any reason why your enclosing the the ribbon tweeter and not having it as a open transmission line out the back top aren't you missing a trick there! I think it's interesting what you've done with the port if I'm correct in my analysis. keep up the good work. I might be able to come over I'm a carer these days so things are difficult thanks for the offer!
