This week’s guest, ALAN STEIN JR., is all about what it takes to MAX OUT.
If you’ve often thought you need more MENTAL TOUGHNESS in your life to give you added discipline, cohesion, and accountability, pay close attention and take a lot of notes.
This is the NEXT-LEVEL episode you’ve been waiting for.
We’re going to spend an hour talking about what it takes to be more than the best…we’re going to talk about what it takes to be the GREATEST OF ALL TIME, no matter what you do.
There’s a GOAT mentality, and Alan will REVEAL all the things it takes to turn you into a fire-breathing COMPETITIVE WINNER.
Alan has been all about PRODUCING RESULTS for two decades now.
For more than 15 years, he worked with some of the highest performing basketball players on the planet, including KOBE BRYANT, STEPH CURRY, KEVIN DURANT, and a lot of other household names. He is also one of the world’s foremost authorities on what it takes to improve individual and organizational performance and leadership. He has also authored two highly successful books, RAISE YOUR GAME and his newly released SUSTAIN YOUR GAME.
Are you ready for an insider’s take on Kobe’s MASTERY OF THE BASICS? You’re going to be blown away by Alan’s “Kobe at 4 am” story.
Do you want to be the ABSOLUTE BEST while still avoiding burnout?
Want some world-class advice on how to FOCUS better?
Alan will also get into the critical skill of developing PROCESSES AND STANDARDS as a key part of being a high achiever.
He also talks about using STRESS and managing ENERGY to YOUR ADVANTAGE instead of falling into traps in those areas like so many people do.
We’re also going to spend time talking about VISUALIZATION, which I practice regularly.
You’ll also get practical advice in the form of THREE STEPS you must take to effect change in your life.
Alan is all about how vital the proper MINDSET is in helping you achieve a MAXXED OUT life. When you can practice several of the things you’ll hear this week, you’ll soon be on your own GOAT journey as well.

Ed, this is one of the most valuable interviews I've EVER seen. Thank you so much. That little Eckhart Tolle quote was massive, and I feel like I'll be stress free forever now, or at least not powerless if it hits me. I truly didn't understand it that way before. Fighting one habit at a time. Instinctively I said this, but now it's clearer. There was something else that stood out, but I'll have to watch again to see.

@@AlanSteinJr no, thank you! I watch a lot of these, from many channels, and I've worked with and seen some of the most extraordinary people on the planet, and this was up there. Ed, I remembered the last point. Missing the 6 shots, but shooting the 7th like you didn't. I immediately used this stuff, and it made a huge difference today.

I think this was your best interview. I sent it to both my sons who are huge basketball fans . So many Life lessons to take away. I did take exception to the “ superior mother” to “ standard mother” comment. I realize there was no Ill intent but moms deal with so much guilt already.

13:20, a doctor in India asked, Are you a monk? After a lengthy four years I discovered what he saw in my words. The Four Laws in Nature. 1. Accept everyone, everything, and every situation without passing judgement. 2. Take a genuine interest in every situation by being fully present. 3. Letting go. Once a situation, activity or moment has ended let it go as though it never happened. 4. Move on to what is going to happen next. These four laws will always place you in a focus(attention and interest) ready to take on any new approaching situation.

33:14 Imagine, your thoughts causing your mind to visualize the end result if carrying out an intent. Thought creates intention. The end result causes the brain to make dopamine. A supervisor gave us a goal. I saw a vision of the goal, instantly knowing that that goal needed to be changed. By visualizing the goal. My brain had already done it. What was suppose to take 8 days to achieve the goal, I did it in 4 days.

This is definitely one of the best interviews I have ever heard, and I have heard plenty of great ones! Every second has been so motivational and informative. I need to save this episode, re-watch, and share to people I care and love! Thank you very much, Ed Mylett and Alan Stein Jr. for all your time and knowledge, thank you for your love and care for people to be better. God bless you and your loved ones, always!❤🙏🏼🤍🕊 Ed Mylett, time flies when I watch or listen to your interviews. I have just watched an episode after the other, (I watched your most recent interview with Brendon Burchard before this) I'd keep watching if I didn't have to be mindful about the time I need to get some sleep. Thank you, thank you for being so careful and thoughtful about your topics, for your preparation and research, and especially for being mindful about who you interview. May you always feel, see and hear God's presence, love, and unconditional love that is uniquely for you. May His guidance, protection, and enlightenment always be clear to you, I pray the same for everyone you encounter, and especially your loved ones. Kind regards, Angel

Fear, Stress, I grew up in in such a manner that could easily be mistaken for a Shaolin monk. I had no fear, I did not experience stress, I knew pain, but it still didn't stop me from putting my life on the line. I want to cross a crazy busy street like one in Mumbai. I did it. I die I die, and here I am at 62 and I'm still alive. We are failing to understand who we are as humans, great talk, but still I hear limitations.

I hear this so much in coaching when they say be present but then say what he did in the opening. Being present is now, not next play. We know what he means. But next is next, and when you are next then you are being instructed to be next. Specific language, instruction is so important in coaching. I love the Kobe quote, fun with the fundamentals

5:28, simplicity, it's the beginning of any activity. Fail to be fully present, will cause you to miss the simply first steps, causing you to come in when the steps become more complex, resulting in being lost. Being fully present allows the big picture to be seen fully, allowing any situation to remain in a simplistical state.

22:33, ah yes, the journey. The journey moves us in so many ways causing our brain and body to respond with joy. Dopamine, endorphins, oxytocin...etc. Understand, all that humans have ever done and will ever do are creations. Creations are work in progress, we can't say with certainty how an event will play out. To do, is messing with the natural process of creating something great. It moving through life one second at a time.

25:00 simplicity, #kiss -keep it simple and sweet. Age 21, manager, sink or swim. By doing one thing at a time, one brick at a time. I achieved what needed to take place that day. Now, time doesn't exist. Days of week, months of the year. It's just me and the situation I am in, I and the world around me isn't there. It's tunnel vision. Until, a thought or impulse moves me to act on what has been given to me by a thought or an impulse. And I trust my thoughts and impulses will never let me down. I listen to them, and I act on them. They're there to help me.

This matches a metaphor that came to me few months ago while trying to solve my inaccuracy of my jump shot. I was attaching emotions to a ball going in the hoop. Acknowledge where I want ball to go(goal), but focus on what I can control(breath, form, etc) trust the process and reps I've put in. When the outcome has no effect on my emotions I don't miss.

5:44 This word humility really resinates me. To try without knowing what is going to happen. To give all you got without knowing you could fail big time. To put all your heart and soul into achieving something and only to be knocked down. And you get up, dust yourself off and go it again. The things I have been told, never touched as deeply as failing, and on top of that being knocked down by what someone has to say about it. And you get up to dive into it again, and again. Giving up isn't an option. A psychiatrist and three psychologists pretty much agreed on the same thing, mentally retarded. My progress blew them away. With over a 100 years of experience between them. They were at a lose for words, How did you heal and rewire your brain?

Ed, my health fail apart in my late 40s, got worse in my 50s, the last few years have been working to get to a healthy state. Once, I do, I will get started on sharing my story. My story is about my life. Imagine, living in such a way, and naturally being this way that everything you do revolving around what Christ, Buddha taught and living in the way that is taught in Taoism. I can highly relate to this discussion, as it is with Dr. Joe Dispenza. What if, you didn't know the names or what the purpose is to everything around you and every activity. Something inside you in silence pulls you to discover the purpose of it all. Look at it as always on a journey to explore new unknown possibilities. When we lose ourselves to any activity. In this state. All past experiences gave you knowledge, skills and at some point in time in the future. Without knowing, the brain and body puts the past experiences to work in the present. Lebron James slips into the flow, only to lose it. What if, he could hold on to that flow throughout a game. We all slip into the flow, it's only afterwards that we connect with what just happened. How do you hold in to the flow state? It starts the moment we wake up. It's a yes kid of life. This yes does not pertain to other people. It simply means, to have great relationships with everything that is associated solely with ourselves, not anyone else. When we are at peace with all our personal experiences. We will have that peace with other people. This is when laws of attraction works best for you. It's like, something is going on that knows what you want more than what you think you want. I've never experienced boredom.

Thank you Ed for this interview. I am definitely going to pick up Allan's book. I suffer with stagnation in my business as well as stress because we all want to be further along but God has a plan and he's watching, as is the universe listening. The basics do get mundane, but work. My favorite quote is Repetition is the mother of all skill. I just have to stick to the basics and know that I'm growing myself and getting better everyday. That 1% pivot daily is making a difference, even if I don't see it. I appreciate your honesty and humble words. Thank you again.

Sheesh, this is excellent! The writing from a place of needing to hear/read these same things. The smile with the stress and being kind and compassionate to ourselves. This is amazing, can’t wait to read the book, (listen to the book).

This was a really good interview and enjoyed it. Alan really said some stuff that resonated with me. The visualization technique of building the brick wall is so true. It allows you to build strong in order. And the focus on the next play analogy ia good too. Too many times I have focused on what went wrong instead of moving on to the next play. Or next move in life. Thank you @Ed Mylett for this awesome content. Love following you on IG, Facebook, and here on KZfaq!

Consider the flame from a single lamp. Though a 100,000 people come and light their own lamps from it to cook their own food & ward off the darkness, the 1st lamp remains the same. Blessings are like this too ✨

29:30 Watch a One year old child. So full of energy, why? Because they're not caught up in what just happened, the child did not get caught up in what went wrong or right. The mind is silent, why? Because the child is so deeply caught up in what it's doing. The child isn't pulled to food, water, sleep, and so on. But, to explore new unknowns. It is the unknown that excites the child. Think dopamine kicks all day long. The child isn't chasing sensations. Yet, wonderful sensations are being experienced all day long.
