14:05 it has harmony, it’s sung by jisoo. it is hard to recognize if you don’t have what people called it “ears” for music because it has a low volume. It is done for the lead vocal to stand out but having that harmony, even if it’s not that recognizable, really adds flavor and completes that line. btw jisoo is recognized for her good harmonizing skills. her skills are just 💯 she’s like the backbone of blackpink 💓

Blackpink said that this is perhaps their hardest choreo since, as you said, it is slow and doesn't have much beat to time your movements with. Also, this is a debut song (together with Boombayah) and this was a very risky choice. But this is where they showed that they can do everything---singing, rapping, dancing, dope music video. The rappers also sing and that singers have vocal chops. And up to now, this is the only k-pop debut song that achieved a Perfect All-Kill. Boombayah might be the bigger hit, but Whistle was the one who one them awards and I still consider this as the best debut in k-pop.

They've said in interviews that they thought Whistle was their hardest song to perform just because it's a slow track, but the dancing itself isn't necessarily slow. Also, Irene and Seulgi just released a new music video/performance video called "Naughty." You really need to check it out. It has an insane amount of tutting and is really well done and well shot as well.

I think this channel is one of the VERY FEW reacting channels that does not just slap on the title "Dancer react to" or "Singer react to" just to create a sense of credibility and attract views. He really digs deep, comments, and analyzes down to the very details of the dance movements. He also mentions his resume and his experience in his field which confirms that he has credibility on putting the title "Performer", which I APPRECIATE. I found that a lot of reacting channels in this platform would easily slap on titles like dancer, singer, or vocal coaches and then go on reacting kpop videos bcs they know it would attract a lot of views from the kpop fans and those titles would really amplify ppl's interest to watch their reactions, but no one is really sure about their credibility or the actual professional experience that would justify them using those titles. So, Jeff I really appreciate your honesty and professionalism!

I think few people appreciate the choreography for Whistle. Even the song itself. The song is very different from others because it has a lot of empty musical space (as their producer Teddy pointed out-the exact reason why YG didn’t want it to be a debut song), and dancing to it is very much harder because you’re like dancing to nothing, so getting the movements in sync with the beat is harder to achieve. You will notice that the MV has also a lot of empty and open spaces. True to what Jeff has said, it has this haunting vibe. You will notice some scenes like Jisoo floating, and Jisoo sitting in this empty hallway dressed up like the girl in the movie “The Orphan”, as well as the girls sitting around tables and simultaneously turning their heads and looking at you like they are in some sort of occult activity, a conjuring if you may. A lot of empty and open spaces as well, like Jennie outside in a vacant parking lot in front of a store, in an empty mansion hallway, and also riding a horse against a plain pink background, or Jisoo in an empty mansion hallway filled with fog. And them driving a car and their bicycles in an empty lot. The emptiness is captured in the MV as well, which matched the music’s atmosphere. This song even won them their first music show awards and set records during that time. So Teddy and the girls made the right decision to release this. If you ask me about Blackpink’s music years from now, I will tell you to listen to “Whistle” to explain what sets them apart.

Blackpink was once asked as to which is the most difficult dance and they all unanimously pointed to Whistle. The reason is that, it is difficult to dance and sing to this song because of the breathing involved. Do you believe that there is a singer better than Demi Lovato in Korea? Her name is Sohyang.
