I enjoy lineage from this collection as well. It reminds me of going to church, the smell of incense and fresh mountain air as when I lived in Guatemala. It’s beautiful in my opinion ❤

Tried Lineage in Paris two days ago, but there was too much going on for me to be able to try it properly. But am having second thoughts about Guidance. It is SO strong and difficult to wear.

Quentin Bisch is not really a free agent perfumer. He is an employer at the huge Swiss company Givaudan who creates scents and tastes for the food and beauty industry and several other industries. One part of Givaudan is to create inventions for the perfume industry and Quentin Bisch is trained through them to become a perfumer through a very exclusive apprentice school they offer for like one or two students once in a while. And he has been working at Givaudan ever since. So it’s more likely really that Amouage has hired Givaudan to create a crowd pleasing perfume to help them according to my guess conquer perhaps the American audience. And Givaudan would be just the enterprise to hire for such a purpose. As Bisch’s creations for a Parfums de Marly has helped them grow faster in the US too. Akigalawiod is one of Givaudan’s creations as well. They own that ingredient so that is the main reason why Quentin Bisch uses Akigalawood in many of his fragrances. It is a substance derived from patchouli and agarwood and made to smell both a bit floral but also mostly woody spicy and is created to make a fragrance room filling and unique. According to Givaudan Akigalawood is also a shapeshifter that changes and adapts when mixed with other notes.
@thehonestperfumereviewer6336
@thehonestperfumereviewer6336 Жыл бұрын
That is what I read about akigalawood! That Givaudan uses it! Thank you. So akigala is not a real type of wood? Interesting! You mean that Bisch is an employee, right? Thank you for explaining all this stuff.
@brabalans348

No its not anything real. It’s a synthetic derivation from patchouli as I understand it. A patented ingredient that Givaudan has created and owns and sells to companies and uses by themselves. I think they use rest products from patchouli oil production that is then treated with some sort of enzyme. But it is very secret and hush hush as it is a patent. 😎

Guidance to me is La Perla Possibilities with Incense. The incense is what saves it for me. I categorize it as a fruity floral incense if that’s even a thing. Lol makes sense to my brain tho.

When i commented on your video yesterday, I was on my way home from work, and had been wearing it since 6 :30 am. When i got into the shower this morning at 6 it was still going strong on my arms. I've don't think i have ANY other perfume in my collection with that kind of performance. (Maybe Followed by Kerosene). I only have the one days wear under my belt, but i will say i think the 4ish sprays I used was maybe 1 spray too many lol. I very solidly got creamy nuttiness from my sniffer.. and liked it. I look forward to more wearings and see what else I pick up. This could be one that goes on my list for either a large decant or bottle (when it shows up somewhere I can find a sale or discount)!

Agree on the performance. Incredible! Still, I don't find it beast mode loud. It doesn't project like Oud for Greatness or anything like that. But a lot for this style of fragrance. And just like you said, the longevity is really amazing. Thank you for commenting!

This fragrance is gorgeous I want my life, my home and my car to smell of. I had a decant for 2 weeks and it is a must own for me. To me is doesn’t come close to any mass appealing fragrance. The price is perfect for it to me. :)

I think I am starting to agree a little with that. It is quite unique! It would be hard to find something similar in one bottle. Certain elements of it can be found in the designer world but not the whole thing. I can see how someone would just have to have this fragrance! But I am not willing to spend that money on such a big bottle.

Hi Kicki, I think after watching your content for some time, I think that decants are the way for you to go when you get 'that urge' to purchase. It seems like you get bored of things quickly. The bigger enjoyment for you comes from trying and experiencing new things. If you used up a decant and still loved a perfume it could be full bottle worthy. It sounds like you feel guilt after purchasing full bottles, which ultimately ruins the bottle purchase for you. Thanks for sharing your thoughts about Guidance! 🌸~ Jenn

Yep! You are right. But am having trouble with decants that start to smell fishy. Not the actual juice but the sprayers and it is such a turnoff. Am trying to find minis and travel size originals instead. But I have enough! New original samples can take me a long way, too. 2 ml Xerjoff are quite inexpensive actually. Sometimes samples can be cheaper per ml than full bottles! Might need to explore samples more. Have resisted paying for samples. Somehow I have told myself that samples should be free😂.
@Jenn_N

@@thehonestperfumereviewer6336 I only seem to get 'free' samples with a full bottle purchase. Typically it has to be from a smaller boutique not from relaters like Sephora or directly from a designer house. They want to give out skin care or makeup samples instead and don't offer a choice. 😒

I have sampled a small decant of Guidance. I am not in love but also not in hate. Very potent but I am not sure I need a full bottle for now but could maybe get a 10 mil decant if I ever find one. I can smell it on me 2 or 3 hrs post atomization and on skin more than 8 hrs. Thank you for your time and review. I get a lot of powdery florals with vanilla.

Even if the brands ask perfumers about following the brand aesthetic it’s obvious that every perfumer will adapt their own style to the brand and if you love the perfumer style you will most likely like their scents. And also we are human beings and we’re all different so it can also be that some noses perceptions are more similar 😮❤

I'm trying to recall the names of the ones from Amouage I have sampled... Myths Man, Lilac Love, Imitation Woman, Journey Woman and Portrayal Woman. I think that's it. They're beautifully crafted but just a bit too powerful for me who goes for quieter and more casual scents. I'm guessing there isn't really anything quiet from Amouage?

I found the opening surprisingly sweet, fresh and a bit girlie. I liked it, but didn't love it. The drydown is straight sandelwood to my nose. Very creamy and longlasting. All in all it's a nice scent but not worth this pricepoint to me. I miss some highlights and some challenging notes.

Maybe I need some few more covids, so my smell will finally get, what everybody is talking about😁 This nutty note it's really bothers me. And I'm a big fun of amouage and Quentin. But good news is that I bought his other one - Purpose - and this one is better (for me) version of Ganymede - without so much sourness with hint of freshness😍 absolutely love that fragrance. I bought a decant of Guidance and wore it the day I received it. My impression right off the bat was that I did like it, but it didn't seem like an Amouage to me. I agree, it's a very likable and probably an easy to like perfume for most people, but I only wore it one day and need to give it more time to understand it. Am I the only one who doesn't like the names on Amouage perfumes? I get them all confused and when I want to try a new one I literally have to go look at all my samples to make sure I don't rebuy one I already tried, lol :o) Sunshine and Jubilation 25 I own full bottles and I really am wanting Journey, but a lot of the rest are a jumble in my old mind. oxJulia

I like the names, but sometimes also struggle with remembering them. I just thought about this the other day. That a good perfume name has something about the prominent note or the style of the perfume in the name. Santal Complet, Oud for Greatness, Fleur Narcotique, Cuir Royal and Iris Dragées are all names that are helpful and you don't forget them. D'Orsay is the most hopeless house. Their perfumes have initials of secret people and a long name in French, many of them are a whole sentence, for example T.J Il n'y a pas de bien ni de mal and O.W C'est toujours agréable d'etre attendu. I mean, come on! There is no way I can remember which ones I have tried from the house! I think they have made a huge mistake here.

@@thehonestperfumereviewer6336 Oh my gosh, hahaha! That house will be a pass for me most likely. I think some houses try too hard to make odd names to their detriment. Etat Libre D'Orange has interesting names that stick in my head, like "Fat Electrician" and "Like This". I've not tried this house but the names are pretty good. In fact, I am deciding if I should get their discovery set for $45.00... oxJulia

Can we stop describing scents as Oriental? What do you mean by that? Spicy? Warm? Ambery? Be specific. It’s 2023. You’re describing a perfume made in Oman, I think we realize now that “oriental” is an outdated term with roots in colonialism and racism. 🙏🏽✌🏽

I had no idea that this sounds racist. To me an oriental fragrance is resinous and ambery, might have oud and spices and woody notes. Maybe the concept amber came to replace the Word oriental in perfumery? That is an accord and style rather than a note. Will try to be more specific. Interesting comment. Never thought of this!
