Amazing, I was struggling how to periodize programms for my clients, and I started to ask even why should I, because periodisation seems to be something irrelevant, yet so widely debated, thanks for this video 👌🏽

This is great. I dig people like this that have original thoughts and want to innovate new concepts.

Awesome Will. Pretty sure this is called vertical integration and even as dude who works with Track athletes solely, it’s how I organise my yearly plans. Perhaps there may be times in which there is an increased density of strength stressors, but for the most part, qualities outlined as important are always being developed.

Great video. I have never thought like that. I used to powerlift now doing judo for masters, I think I'm still strength training like If It was for powerlifting meets. Very good observation.

That Claudius Galenus book (De Sanitate Truenda) looks like an interesting read. And good god you can sprint fast.

Any thoughts on agile periodisation by jovanovic for field athletes that wants to enahancd both aerobic conditioning but also improve rfd, strength and power?

this boils down to basic conjugate system training no?

Interesting, I never considered the impact that the concurrent energy system depends of team sports had in the training adaptation process. Where do you think you could draw the line for using block style periodisation in an effective manner in terms of specific doses of team sport work. Perhaps more applicable in off season?
@willratelle80273 жыл бұрын
Yeah maybe off season for some sports but I think concurrent is a better way to go
@mosesbygate-smith27503 жыл бұрын
@@willratelle8027 do you think there are significant differences between block and concurrent style training in terms of maximising specific adaptations? I understand most team sports have concurrent demands in themselves but I’m just curious to hear your thoughts with this perspective in mind e.g. endurance vs strength conflict, power vs strength conflict
@willratelle80273 жыл бұрын
@@mosesbygate-smith2750 I’m not really sure. It will depend on the sport, training age, level of play, time spent training vs time spent practicing/playing, and a lot of other factors. For the athletes I work with (ncaa men’s basketball, volleyball, and men’s and women’s tennis), we use a concurrent style. I’ve used other periodization models before and feel like this works best for our situation.

Dude m so confused on programs splits nd recovery that i dont even enjoy it anymore ,help out
@cesarandrade19874 ай бұрын
Just stop overthinking it and follow one method for 6 months, and get your sleep and recovery on point, then asses. You have the power to stop being confused by picking a damn lane, and seeing how it works. I say this out of empathy, cause I've been there more or less. Most modern approaches work reasonably well between upper lower ppl full body etc. what matters most is consistent effort over time with adequate periods of recovery and resensitization

Periodisation is the most confusing word and we really need more words for all the sub-definitions. Like how do we use the same word for 'How we organise when we'll train different qualities throughout a whole training year' as 'How to progress volume-load session to session'?? Confusing as fuck.
@mario88334 ай бұрын
But managing volume and load is exactly training different qualities bro or energetic systems
@coach.hybrid Жыл бұрын
So basically concurrent periodisation is better for team sport athletes?

@celo_gutierrez19 күн бұрын
Yes. The training of everything, but the volume dedicated to each varies throughout the year based on needs and competition schedule.
@hanwenliu7063 Жыл бұрын
The issue with concurrent periodization is that the athletes can become stronger and more powerful, but thet will never become real strong and powerful
