Little fun fact for you: The spoken word part, on the album version, is done by the vocalist from a band called Sikth Named Mikee Goodman. However, Spencer has his own version he can do in the live versions which is also pretty deep and growly just like the recording. Sikth was a big influence on many of the members of Periphery including spencer so that collaboration was very special for them.

Honestly, even though I personally like their heavier albums like “one” and “Polaris” a little more than “altered state”... Altered state is THE album to start with for a new listener in my opinion. It will get you hooked looking for more, at least it did for me. Interesting note ab the singers: Altered state has a separate singer from their other albums. Both singers are great in their own ways, much like each of their albums as overall sonic pieces of work, respectively, they are each pretty unique from one another, yet still tremendous! Tbh, I didn’t vibe with them too much at first, but now I literally don’t skip any of their songs when they come on shuffle. This is definitely one of those bands where their most popular songs aren’t my favorite, but I still love all of their music, if that makes sense lol. Thanks for reading. Cheers!

I don't think that was meant for the audience in general. It was just a way to direct something at the people who leaked this album a week before release. If you find a copy that doesn't have that message, it's an illegal copy or a pre-released version.

Geebz - if this is your thing.... you need to check out their double album. Juggernaut Alpha / Omega. That is a complete journey. Super dark, super emotive... hard to listen to at times, but redemptive in the end. Basically its the journey of a cult member from the time of a child, through adulthood - realizing its wrong, trying to break away, being damned to hell, clawing his way back to punish the evil leaders and eventually being "reborn/redeemed". Its probably my all time favorite prog metal album. Not saying you should react to it - but you will enjoy it for the journey... but be prepared - it is super dark in places. ....... Made it to the end - Reptile AWWWRIGHT!!!!

It simply can’t. Even reaction channels with 1mil+ subs who especially focus on music will never be able to monetize their channels cuz every single video of his gets copyright striked, which isn’t a penalty or anything, it just means that the label is now allowed to place ads and collect that revenue. It even happens to my channel and I have less than 200 subs and I’m covering the songs on guitar, playing over them at a pretty loud volume and sometimes even adding my own parts for songs that for example have no guitar riffs in the verse or something and I still get claimed. So we (this channel and mine) can never monetize with the use of Adsense or any mid-video ads. But yes, he should have a silver KZfaq Play button by now and it’s fucked up that he doesn’t. KZfaq pretty much sucks balls. Oh he is getting to the point where he can get sponsored, like by Raid Shadow Legends...I know that everyone reading this has seen a video sponsored by them lol. It won’t get a ton of views, but since you really like this and between the buried and me, I really think you should check out Native Construct - Chromatic Aberration. It’s another long song, but absolutely mind blowing. Also extremely powerful. Will take you through a range of emotions. I would say it is on the level of reptile in terms of the theatrics of the composition and the images it will put in your head. Written by teenagers at Berkeley in their dorm room a few years back.

Great suggestion. Chromatic Abberation is definitely a ride, but I believe it's best listened to after listening to the rest of the album first. As a composition its really chaotic and calls back to a lot of riffs and instruments in the preceding songs and that would be lost if this was the first song he heard. I believe Spark of Archon would be a better first listen but I'm sure he'd appreciate CA just the same.

Finding it so interesting how you spoke about having Periphery work theatre! Their double album, Juggernaut Alpha & Omega, is in it's entirety a concept album with a full storyline start to finish, and although the albums aren't spoken about much nowadays they still hold their own as (imo) some of the greatest composition modern music has been exposed too. Also, I'm so happy to see the growth on your channel! Congrats man 😁
