I wonder what we can study about propulsion of those vorticella stalks. That looked pretty mind blowing, actually the whole video was mindblowing. Of these peritrich ciliates, mobile telotrochs use their trochal band, whereas the trophont sessilids use peristome cilia. Feels like I'm watching interdimensional cable.

Has anyone ever been able to film these cilia with a slow motion camera? I would love to see the individual cilia, if possible, and how exactly they move. Also at 8:46, they look like a bunches of delicate little bells, or flowers, they're very pretty in their own way.
