THIS -- Jaime (Jamie?) installing roof flashing UNDER the existing woodwork, not to mention everyone taking the time to do all the specialty cuts -- is the reason 'stick-built' houses and/or custom-built houses are SO MUCH BETTER than a development house of any age. Plus, having a crew this talented makes all the difference, too. :D

After many years of fixing roof leaks even on newly installed roofs I can appreciate the attention to detail and forethought of how everything ties together. Water will always find a way unless everything is weaved together just right and most guys are in a big hurry to just get it done and it can be very time consuming to do it properly.

I just found your channel about 2 weeks ago. You all have made me remember how much I loved framing and building houses!! While I started with framing at 17 in 1995, and have continued my career to Heavy Industrial construction as management, your channel makes me think about getting back into residential!! Your quality work is exactly how I was taught from my boss. I love how you all explain why you take the extra steps to make your projects last longer than ode built houses!! You all think about other crafts and the longevity of of craftsmanship!! Thank you for the enjoyment me and your viewers get from your videos and knowledge!!

Attention to detail when building a house is like making fine furniture. The time spent on the hidden details, that no one will ever see (but you know are there) is what turns any structure into long-lasting work of art and home.

Love the artistry of your work. With those up and under pieces you’re sealing and then hoping to paint later, why don’t you have a small tin/brush handy and painting it before attaching. I was always taught, with timber, always do to the backside that you do to the front. Keep the videos coming.

Will have to fix it the way you explained.

That is the difference between a custom home builder who not only cares ; but in the case of even flashing it’s customized! That is a true talented pair of brothers! Jamie & Eric if I lived there I would beg you every day for a job ! I am a finish carpenter/ cabinet builder! However ; just to let you know I was told by a trim carpenter in East Texas ( home of Sasquatch) I am considered framing because I build cabinets ? Oh & I don’t even need a tape measure?

A friend is a third or fourth generation sheet metal worker and his dad's house, his dad had all the window sills done in sheet metal and edges lock edged and soldered as well as the chimney top,the transition boards entering the house, but when I saw the homemade drip edging with notched and embossed designs it was just WOW, hopefully any new owner will notice it and keep it as most nowadays don't bother with custom crap(in a goodway) like that..

If Ramel (sp?) is planning on making the top of the push out a catio, then I hope she has a tall ladder because she will probably want to check it occasionally for any "debris" that finds its way up there. I'm thinking, if her cats are like mine, the leavings of any critters they happen to catch. Chances are good they'll take them up there, where they can eat in peace.

Regarding Jamie’s epicondylitis, I’ve learned that holding a smart phone ( palm up) and scrolling with thumb exacerbates the problem and if I hold phone in left hand and use right pointer finger to scroll and type it has allowed the inflammation process to slow or stop. Just an fyi.

When talking about siding not being seen from at the same time, we did the electrical work in a house and the brick layers must have been drunk. They never put measurements around the house. The result was when they came to the last corner the grout lines was off by half a brick

Well, don't tell anyone but I actually got excited about that flashing. Having had to deal with a leak recently around a sky light and seeing how shoddy the flashing was, this was so enjoyable to see how real pros take care of things. Actually, you're more than pros. Pros that truly give a poo about doing things above and beyond "good enough". Really enjoy your work. Thank you.
