i totally agree about the humor. dominicans are some funny ass people. you can even tell in the music. my family is puerto rican and i think they are funny too but Dominicans will have you in tears from laughing so hard. the delivery is unbeatable.

Not only visit the beaches, we have a lot more! we even have dunas. Also la Zona colonial is a good turistic point, go and see where America Started :D Safe trip.

I’m 15 and I moved to the US almost two years ago. It is so difficult it is to feel represented as a dominican young woman positively around here. We have a bad reputation a lot of the time and it’s very frustrating to have to change people’s minds about us. We’re all different and it really is sad that a lot of people don’t have an open mind when it comes to judging Dominicans and Puerto Ricans, or anyone that’s not from the US. You guys make it so much better to feel loved and to be proud of being dominican. You don’t understand how blessed I feel to have us being represented in such a big way, so thank you for that. Dominicana hasta la tambora! Love you guys.

@@tedfebo1741 my Dominican and Puerto Rican friends say that costeños speak kind of like them but a mix of all 3. Ted Febo of course there's differences and the canary islanders off the coast off Africa says it came from them and if you listen it is very similar but to an out side it sounds the same..in the same way to outsiders all southern folk talk the same but they will tell you that mississippi and tenesee have different accents. When you live in the community you learn to differentiate the subtleties. My other Dominican friend said barranquilleros talk like Cubans but to me cartageneros talk like Puerto Ricans or dominicans.

I have never been to the Dominican Republic. Hopefully I will visit there soon. As an Afro Puerto Rican born in New York City, I have been to Puerto Rico many times. I love the Afro Dominican, Puerto Rican, and Cuban cultures and the people.

Much love when you said " mangu " 😊 . I lived in Nueva York for 9 years and I am french , lived in Brooklyn , Queens and the Bronx. I love mangu con queso frito y huevos. Came back home in Paris looking for a dominican spot to buy it and so far , I did not find it . Nueva York is do diverse foodwise, I miss a lot of aspects of it

I think if I could choose to be any other type of Latino it would be a tie between Dominicans and Colombians, don’t get me wrong, I love my country, but sometimes when it’s so small we can’t have that kind of history that other countries have printed in the Latino history, still love my country tho. Princesa_Almonte we have more than 3 actually. Julissa talks like Dominicans that grew up in USA. There’s cibaeño accent, from the south, la capital and even in la capital there are different ones. You have your rich kid accent and the ones that talks with so much slang you can barely understand what they’re saying lol

Bueno chicos, que Yucatán y Quintana Roo en México y parte de Colombia también son caribeños. Nosotros también nos sentimos muy cercanos a los cubanos, beliceños y las Guayanas y, una vez al año tenemos el festival de cultura del Caribe. Besotes, me encantan.

That would definitely stir up the views and comments and would show once more that the three of us are just separated by water but are basically the same. I love the DR! I spent a week in the DR with a Rotary Club group last month, and it was a total blast! I’ve never laughed, ate, and danced as much in my entire life. Y’all Dominicans are incredible people, and your country is just as amazing!

I agree Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Cuba somos prácticamente primo hermano con diferentes acentos. Our food is the same, some dishes are the same ingredient prepared differently with different names. Por ejemplo en Puerto Rico se le llama Mofongo, en Santo Domingo se le llama mangú y en Cuba se le llama fufú de plátano. My favorite way to eat mangú is with bacalao en salsa/guisado

I guess I'm not surprised there's more similarities between the Caribbean islands. I dated a Puerto Rican while I lived in Hawaii and loved being surrounded by his family even though his dad would talk shit about Mexico and his mom never wanted to give me the sofrito recipe!! Even if it didn't work out with him I secretly wanted to at least be adopted by his family lol And yes he did break my heart and dumped me but I still love the energy the Caribbean people have!

Im late, but as a dominican and venezuelan i can say that we are very similar! Of course we have our differences, but our people have extremely similar culture. When you talk about the major differences we wont look the same, HOWEVER, if you pay attention to the rest of it we are very similar. Our people on both sides are extremely amazing and they definitely DO COMPARE.
