In Greek mythology Aethiopia was land south of Egypt, so Black Africa. It indeed had to make impression if Greek from that era returned with black bride. And if he was in Egypt he could have certainly got some idea about building projects, and possibly got local curved sword, kopesh.

11:41 Gorgophone, written in greek with an o-micron (unlike in the word "telephone" where the "o" is an o-mega "Ω,ω") means "the Gorgon-murderer" (Medusa = one of the 3 Gorgons). "PhOnos", written with o-micron means "murder" (and "phoneus" means "murderer", the male form of the noun), While "phonE", written with o-mega, means "voice"... (the stess always on the vowel that I wrote in its capital case). Akrisios, afraid of the future-son of his daughter Danae, imprisoned her in a small bronze tower, with a cell at its top, so that no man can impregnate her. Zeus noticed her tornment, he liked her, and impregnated her in the form of rain, falling onto her through cracks on her cell´s roof. When Akrisios found out, that she had a baby, and out of repect of the divine descent of the baby, he didn´t kill it, instead, put mother and son in a wooden box, and let them to the mercy of the sea. So, they arrived alive in Seriphos, where the king´s brother found them, released them from the box, and took care of the baby´s upbringing... Nearly a millenium later, jewish mythology would copy this story (and a second, similar greek story), for Moses, who was found at the river´s shore, in a basket...

Hey man great series. I like how you blend historical facts and greek mytology. But most likely mycenaean Greece was not united under a high king. But a series of city states . Some was just powerfull thrn others and could be players in international politics. And its possible that hittite king/enperor was a war with some greek citystates that had colonies in anatolia. While the hittites were a peace with other mycenaean citystates. Also did a high rule from mycenaeae . Its more likely that he ruled over the other citystates in argolid region as an overlord. With wanaxes of cities like Argos, Tiryns and Mides etc as vasals under hin. While the greek citystates were either enemies or allies. A united mycenaean Greece did not exsist. And its possible that acheans/achiyawa was in reality just the conferation of in the citystates in argolid under the overlord ship of mycenaeae .
@WanaxTV
@WanaxTV 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your feedback! You are right, it was unlikely that all of Mycenaean Greece was directly controlled by one king. I suggest you watch the first 3 videos where I went more into depth explaining the confederation and political order of Mycenaean Greece. This video is just a follow up in that regard, and doesn't give you a full picture if you want to get to know the political situation.

@@WanaxTV I have seen your firt 3 Amazing videoes. And they are perfect. But even though there might have been different conferations of citystates in Greece. Then its not unlikely that there sometimes was war inside those conferations. We know from classic times. That sometimes wars would take inside the conferations . Where two citystates would go to war over the leader ship of the conferations... So its likely that mycenaeae and Tiryns (or Argos) was at war st sometimes. And that argolid conferation sometimes were lead by mycenaeae or Tiryns. Depending on who won the war. Heck even in classic times. The citystates around Delphi would go ro war over the control of acces to Delphi. Another reason that mycenaeae was powerfull in the argolid region is trade. The trade routes from Argos and Tiryns up to corinth. The go right through Mycenaeaen controlled territory. And back then there was such thing as police and good roads . So the if trade caravan came by things of high value. The chance getting attacked abd robbed was high. So this could be a reason why the king of mycenaeae was powerfull. He could say to those trade caravans : If you give a procent of your goods in tax. Then I can offer an armed escort through my lands ... That could have the real reason for mycenaeaen power in argolid region. Also control of trade routes was something that could send citystates to war with each other....

@WanaxTV 3 жыл бұрын
@@madsdahlc That's a good assessment. From all my research, written records and archeological evidence, it can be said with big certainty that Argolid at the very least was controlled by Mycenae, including Tyrins and Argos. During Bronze, Argos was just a town in Argolis, with small populace not even comparable in size to classical Argos. Tyrins was a significant fortification, but only fortified towards c. 1400 BCE, which would have not been possible if there was a rival powerful city nearby. Afterwards Tyrins prospered together with Mycenae, and there is no evidence of damage except for times when Mycenae itself was damaged as well (for example Bronze age collapse). Tyrins also did not have a major royal cementry, nor did Argos, or any city nearby except for Mycenae, proving that Mycenae was undoubtedly the capital city, at least of an area of most of Peloponnese. This is also confirmed by ancient traditions which most times place kings of Mycenae to have also reigned over Argos, Tiryns, northern Peloponnese, Laconia and even Pylos. As for the rest of Mycenaean Greece, their relations towards Mycenae possibly changed at different times, considering the developed road network leading to Mycenae, and also foreign correspondence with Hittites where they clearly refer to king of 'Ahhiyawa' as an equal, "great king" and a "peer" to the Hittite kings, in general there was likely an alliance, confederation or a hegemon-vassal relation with Myecane and most of those cities, where the king of Mycenae held a special sway or at times probably hegemony over most of the other rulers. For example, letters from Muwatali II to the unnamed king of Ahhiyawa reveal that the Achaean king "installed" certain Atpa as the ruler of Miletus, and that Miletus belongs to the king of Achaea, together with the Aegean islands. It would have been impossible for the king of Achaea to hold such high status internationally, control territories across Aegean and engage in wars with Hittites and even invade Cyprus if the situation in mainland Greece was not stable and under control.

@@WanaxTV the latest understanding really goes for a one High King, the Wanax, governing the mycenaean world indirectly through the Lawagetas. The sheer uniformity throughout the mycenaean world being too much for different indipendent polities to live up to. Further more, the sheer scale of infrastructural effirts made by the mycenaeans all over the mycenaean world needed resources that just a unified polity could muster.

@@guritarasi8732 There is no Pelasgian alphabet, they didn't leave any written records and they were gone from history centuries before alphabet was even developed. They are only known from Greek mythology. In fact, nobody ever recorded the existence of Pelasgians except for Greeks in myths and legends etc. And it is sad that you have no history of your own, so you look for ancient peoples that left no evidence or records, so you can claim them as your own. That's what happens with undeveloped countries where it's so easy for government to brainwash their uneducated people. Albanians only started writing in the 15th century, they didn't record their own history and even today Albania is the least developed and civilized country in Europe.
