My sister and I are identical twins and we can’t eat the same plant foods. Our digestive system is so different! This is so true! We have just been finding this out!

Your microbiome is different, but I bet if the one that has higher tolerance transferred part of it to the other (aka ingesting a _crapsule_ ), you could eat the same plant foods.

@@brookelopez3068 look into "fecal transplants", if the donor is your sister or your mother, it should be safer and may help you get the microbiome diversity they have to digest those foods. Consult a knowledgeable doctor before going for it, all the best 🙏

There was that study Dr Greger covered when they replaced olive oil with walnuts in a Mediterranean Diet, there were 25% fewer strokes in the walnut group.

It makes sense, walnuts are known to be heart ❤ and arterial health boosters. Now another study should compare walnut oil with raw and soaked nuts. That'd be a fair competition 😂

Zoe is basically a way to get people to eat more plant based, and yes it's slightly personalized beyond that. But if you're already eating WFPB, I don't think you are likely to need Zoe. However, that is roughly what dr. B started out saying.

I do have a big issue with Zoe and I just don't understand. They promote meat, Dairy, eggs Etc. Dr B helped to change my life by improving my gut microbiome, I was really sick. Now he's promoting Zoe but saying he's promoting plant-based! I really don't understand and I would like to. Can you help?

Must admit Zoe seems to have become a cash cow and they do promote dairy; some ties to dairy funded 'studies'. better than SAD but WFPB for the win.

I will also add that I went plant based for years without losing weight until I lowered my fats. I honestly didn't expect the weight to suddenly come off because I am eating the same meals just lowering the fat and I had been so frustrated for years and now I have lost 30 pounds in 3 months just getting rid of the fats. I guess that is why it needs to be individualized, some people do great on potatoes and low fat, some people do great on beans and greens and nuts as fat, some people can do olive oil and be okay. I couldn't lose weight even though I had dropped dairy and junk food and pizza, etc.
@wishingb5859

I will add that, if you found my comments from years ago, it was that I tried each different style of eating in the Plant Based and failed at them all and didn't lose weight. I got blood sugar spikes on potatoes and also just never felt full eating that way. I couldn't lose an ounce on Eat To Live probably because I ate too much fat. I had to smash McDougall and Furhman and Esselstyn together or something like that. But it genuinely is working now and I don't fully understand it still why I could change every single food I was eating back then and add in fruit and vegetables which should have changed calorie density but it made zero difference, even taking out soda and eating no sweets and no fried foods and no dairy. I needed to go very low fat and I am thinking that I might be able to eat potatoes someday, I just haven't tried because I still have a lot of weight to lose. But because I have posted the "It doesn't work" type sentences here in years past, now I will do it does work, but you might need to individualize things and tweak things.

Also, there was the endothelials getting messed up by even one serving of oil. I say it because Dr. Esselstyne and the rest of the doctors are using different measures for what is healthier or less healthy with oil. Not to cause an increase in fighting.

Interesting approach to olive oil; there can indeed be much worse sources of fat from meat/chicken/fish to oils like sunfliwer, so welcome ( a bit of) olive oil :)...indeed only a big topic within the plant-based world; lets dont scare others with these 'details'... Love the episodes related to the gut microbiome the most; and this combo with the two of you makes it extra; not only much informative but also fun and apeling. Congrats for the paper on Nature; that is what makes this chenel unique- all science based...published in high impact journals. A pleasure to be part of this crew...cheers from The Netherlands!

Are you on a Whole Foods plant-based diet? I know that my blood pressure came down when I switched from basically a standard diet that I thought was healthy to a whole plant-based diet that was seven years ago at age 48 and my blood pressure came down to right at the cut off which is 120/80. Seven years later it’s about 116/83. I’m still on the diet of course and I’ve been exercising. I hope you get your stuff worked out.

Appreciate the video. The trouble with topic is that studies are based on averages RCT. I appauld the attempts. Individualize nutrition is empowering to the client/patient because we bring to the table history, family, lifestyle etc. And not just dependent on the clinicians expertise, readings and drugs.

Interesting but remember DNA is expressing itself dependent on your entire life style - the same person can radically change their way of responding to to the exact same food dependent on your micro ion that can be changed in 7-10 days 🙃♥️

Identical twins are not really identical, since epigenetic changes are likely to have occurred in any set of twins. The term "monozygotic twin" is, for this reason preferable. The older a pair of twins are, the more epigenetic markers are likely to have accumulated.

@@halcyon-cg2eb and mono cropping plants is any better. Spraying everything with glyphosate and run off into our waters and wells. Google growing cycles. We have like 60 growing cycles left because we ruined our natural soil and are losing our top soils. Thousands of birds killed every year due to glyphosate. And farmers pay to shoot wild hogs at night to keep their crops safe. Thousands of small animals are killed and lose their natural habitat when tearing up new fields. Just saying. To eat on both sides there is loss of animal life.

I loved the intro. On the other hand, I thought Dr B gave the US Dietary Guidelines way too much credit. He gave them a B or B- while I'd have thought they were more in the C to C- range. It is a very low bar and it should be entirely expected that Zoe would trounce the guidelines in a trial. In my opinion the description given in the video of this study does nothing to show a benefit from Zoe to a whole food plant based diet. There may well be one, it could be good or it could be small, but a trial comparing a largely whole food plant based diet, personalized or not, to the hideous American Dietary Guidelines couldn't help but succeed.
