Someone I used to work with had a termination at 20 weeks. It was her first child, they were delighted and yes they'd already picked out a name for him. For them to find out that the fetus was missing vital organs was absolutely devastating.

Or, a mother who had 2 pregnancies (!!!) where the fetus had no brain; 3rd trimester pregancies. Yeah, put these woman through more HELL. With nonmedical nut-jobs in charge, more women will die. Cut & paste it! "If it's that late in your pregnancy, then it's almost by definition you've been expecting to carry it to term. We're talking about women who have perhaps chosen a name. Women who have purchased a crib, families that then get the most devastating medical news of their lifetime, something about the health or the life of the mother, that forces them to make an impossible, unthinkable choice. And the bottom line is, as horrible as that choice is, that family, that woman, may seek spiritual guidance; they may seek medical guidance -- but that decision is not going be made any better, medically or morally, because the government is dictating how that decision should be made."

When I speak of a Democrat, man or woman, finally saying, “No, we can’t be killing unborn babies in the 3rd trimester and call it an abortion” I’m referring to the rank and file. People like me, not a Politician. Buttigieg doesn’t know what he’s talking about. If and when a woman’s obstetrician declares his patient is at risk in her 3rd trimester, he treats her and the baby for the best outcome for both. Sometimes it comes down to delivering the child and placing the baby in the NICU. But you never have to kill the child to save the life of a mother! As far as a defective child, that is determined in the 1st trimester and certainly in the 2nd trimester. These results are not sprung on the mother in the 3 rd trimester? IOW, Buttigieg is certainly ignorant about the 3rd trimester. He’s making up stuff that has nothing to do with reality. But then, he’s a politician and he’s pandering to a supportive and friendly audience.

that is why there is a heartbeat bill, ... its not the situation that dictates whether or not abortion is wrong ....but God says it is wrong, ...when petey says that "women have the right" we need to ask them ....what is a right? where did rights come from? Well ...in our DOI it says God has bestowed rights to human kind, ...but God does not give anyone rights to murder, ...and a child in the womb is human ...therefore killing it would be murder. People need to check their morals again.
@christopherthomas11752 жыл бұрын
Do you have the same position about the death penalty?
@kirkinsf42 жыл бұрын
Not quite. The Declaration of Independence (I spelled it out because when I looked up what DOI could stand for all that came back was Digital Object Identifier. Took me a minute.) says "... they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights..." It doesn't specify who that creator is. We are not a theocracy, so the Christian God doesn't have a say in secular law, nor does any other God. Your argument is that a child in the womb is human. I would argue a child in the womb is a potential human and that a living human woman should have more rights than a fetus. I think it's tragic that that even needs to be said. Forcing a woman to give birth no matter the circumstances is immoral. See? I checked my morals. When a right already exists, like abortion, there traditionally, legally needs to be a profound societal benefit in order for that right to be taken away. I don't think the country would benefit from a sudden influx of hundreds of thousands of unwanted children per year. Are you and other pro-lifers planning to put your money where your mouth is and adopt a few? If not, you might want to take a step back from this discussion.

He just answered it straight in this short clip. The only time a late-term abortion is even considered to be allowed is in the case where the mother's life is at risk, or the fetus is going to die regardless of whether or not they carry it to term or it's going to kill both mother and child, or any other host of medical reasons why that decision would have to be made. The point is that if you get to the 3rd trimester, by definition you're expecting to have that child, you've picked a name, etc. and you're given horrible life-changing news and a decision that no one wants to make. At the end of the day, that decision shouldn't be made by the government, it should be made by the woman and their family, and their doctors.
