Someone I used to work with had a termination at 20 weeks. It was her first child, they were delighted and yes they'd already picked out a name for him. For them to find out that the fetus was missing vital organs was absolutely devastating.

11 5 20 Hey Sally Smith, Imagine: a loving man & woman having to go through the process of having a dead baby in utero (3rd trimester, first child) & the mother @ risk for having a stroke & dying; a dead baby delivered, the Mother lived, they named the baby, dressed him, & grieved.. Or, a mother who had 2 pregnancies (!!!) where the fetus had no brain; 3rd trimester pregancies. Yeah, put these woman through more HELL. With nonmedical nut-jobs in charge, more women will die. Stay safe, keep calm, & be well. v

Cut & paste it! "If it's that late in your pregnancy, then it's almost by definition you've been expecting to carry it to term. We're talking about women who have perhaps chosen a name. Women who have purchased a crib, families that then get the most devastating medical news of their lifetime, something about the health or the life of the mother, that forces them to make an impossible, unthinkable choice. And the bottom line is, as horrible as that choice is, that family, that woman, may seek spiritual guidance; they may seek medical guidance -- but that decision is not going be made any better, medically or morally, because the government is dictating how that decision should be made."

But babies survive outside womb with a little help (incubation, breathing) at 6 months. That's end of Second Trimester. This Fox News talk of Third Trimester is not even the problem as they are trying to make it be. Also, At That Stage Of Development And Ability To Survive, cutting babies up and vacuuming them out as was formerly done in abortions, doesn't happen anymore, I don't think.

Ditto. I don't understand what happened...? I recall Pete _winning_ the first two primaries. And then....he just drifted away as Biden "took his rightful place as next in line" or whatever. But my god....Pete is a masterful politician. Smart, ethical, likeable, and able to get an audience of Fox News conservatives to agree with his stance on late-term abortion? Are you kidding me? Who can DO that? Pete can. If the DNC was smart....they'd put everything they have behind this guy. It's beyond frustrating to know they _won't_ do that. They'll probably just say Kamala is "next in line" and expect everyone to be thrilled about that. And that's how Trump will win in 2024. It's maddening to see it all coming....

@@jpsned Unfettered access to abortion is only allowed in the first trimester. Abortions can be banned in the third trimester as long as there's an exception for the life of the mother. A male presidential candidate is asked a question that begins, "So you're saying you would be OK with a WOMAN..." That beginning alone is laughable. Can you imagine asking a person running for office, "so let me get this right... you're saying you'd be ok with a man *insert any decision a man makes to his own body*". That'd be an absurd question to ask, even more-so to ask the opposite gender who doesn't even experience it.

THIS is just one reason why I _really_ hope Pete eventually becomes POTUS. The sooner the better... He got an audience of Fox News conservatives.....to applaud the notion of legal late-term abortion. And he did it with appeals to sanity, higher ethics, and rational arguments. NOT with click-baity hyperbole and pandering. The mere fact he was able to argue this position THIS well in front of THIS audience...makes me beyond frustrated that the DNC isn't putting everything it's got into getting him elected to high office. Enough of the Hillary...Biden...Kamala...old school notion that our nominee should be whoever is "next in line." That's how we lose. And also....no one cares. No one cares who's next in line. Only inside-DC wonky political junkies care about that kind of baton passing. Actual people....want the best person for the job. And imo, that's Pete, hands down.

A family living in poverty would be defenseless against the ruthless systems that force them to either have water for the month, or afford to buy baby formula for the child they cannot afford to raise anyhow. @@dearymcleary Not really imo. we’ve been making children at a good rate, and if we need more children for the population to succeed, the solution isn’t banning abortion. The solution would be to make it actually worth it to have kids in this country. For example, we could add more funding for schools, more maternity leave, better IEP and disability accommodation for children, improve the adoption and foster care systems, and we could start paying people wages that will at least enable them to survive and not enter a state of poverty in which they cannot properly raise a child. When I speak of a Democrat, man or woman, finally saying, “No, we can’t be killing unborn babies in the 3rd trimester and call it an abortion” I’m referring to the rank and file. People like me, not a Politician. Buttigieg doesn’t know what he’s talking about. If and when a woman’s obstetrician declares his patient is at risk in her 3rd trimester, he treats her and the baby for the best outcome for both. Sometimes it comes down to delivering the child and placing the baby in the NICU. But you never have to kill the child to save the life of a mother! As far as a defective child, that is determined in the 1st trimester and certainly in the 2nd trimester. These results are not sprung on the mother in the 3 rd trimester? IOW, Buttigieg is certainly ignorant about the 3rd trimester. He’s making up stuff that has nothing to do with reality. But then, he’s a politician and he’s pandering to a supportive and friendly audience.

that is why there is a heartbeat bill, ... its not the situation that dictates whether or not abortion is wrong ....but God says it is wrong, ...when petey says that "women have the right" we need to ask them ....what is a right? where did rights come from? Well ...in our DOI it says God has bestowed rights to human kind, ...but God does not give anyone rights to murder, ...and a child in the womb is human ...therefore killing it would be murder. People need to check their morals again.

@kirkinsf4
@kirkinsf4 2 жыл бұрын
Not quite. The Declaration of Independence (I spelled it out because when I looked up what DOI could stand for all that came back was Digital Object Identifier. Took me a minute.) says "... they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights..." It doesn't specify who that creator is. We are not a theocracy, so the Christian God doesn't have a say in secular law, nor does any other God. Your argument is that a child in the womb is human. I would argue a child in the womb is a potential human and that a living human woman should have more rights than a fetus. I think it's tragic that that even needs to be said. Forcing a woman to give birth no matter the circumstances is immoral. See? I checked my morals. When a right already exists, like abortion, there traditionally, legally needs to be a profound societal benefit in order for that right to be taken away. I don't think the country would benefit from a sudden influx of hundreds of thousands of unwanted children per year. Are you and other pro-lifers planning to put your money where your mouth is and adopt a few? If not, you might want to take a step back from this discussion.

@@kirkinsf4 glad you have the courage to answer this ..."The DOI does not specify which God" Well ...if you look at article 6 of the constitution, ... the constitution ties the DOI which came first into the rule of law of the constitution ....the DOI set forth the principles and the constitution set forth the operation ...and those operations came exclusively from the Christian Bible ...and when they signed the law of the land "Year of Our Lord" 1827 they understood this Lord to be the Christian one ...so that is settled, .......lets dissect your statement ...where do rights come from "woman should have more rights than a fetus" rights?...they come from God ...and again ....we are talking about those rights bestowed to us by a creator, ...the govt was never made to be secular, (the silly argument is that the constitution never mentions God, lol ...neither does the book of Esther in the Bible, ...neither does the Book of Song of Solomon ... those are not secular books) ...the founding fathers had bibles and prayers in their schools and abortion was outlawed ...to say something is unconstitutional is to say that the founders would have disagreed on it ...that is really stretching it, an to say that a woman is being forced to give birth ...no one forces that ...it is a natural process, ...the understanding should be obvious ...if you have irresponsible sex with the desire to NOT have a child ...then you should experience the consequences of taking risks of unprotected sex. what is unreasonable about that?with

@@lukevillarreal973 Lets say that a woman was denied an abortion by a doctor, delivered a stillborn baby, and died shortly after from a condition contracted via carrying the pregnancy out to term instead of aborting the stillborn. Would that make the doctor a murderer for denying this woman an abortion, even though the fetus was going to die before being born anyway? Would that make abortion morally correct because it meant one less “murder” occurring? I would like to hear your stance on this.

I have watched several videos trying to find his stance on abortion, he’s pro choice, but EVERY TIME the person says “Just to be clear, you support 3rd tri abortion?” He never gives a straight answer. Never.
@justinburns8285
@justinburns8285 4 жыл бұрын
He just answered it straight in this short clip. The only time a late-term abortion is even considered to be allowed is in the case where the mother's life is at risk, or the fetus is going to die regardless of whether or not they carry it to term or it's going to kill both mother and child, or any other host of medical reasons why that decision would have to be made. The point is that if you get to the 3rd trimester, by definition you're expecting to have that child, you've picked a name, etc. and you're given horrible life-changing news and a decision that no one wants to make. At the end of the day, that decision shouldn't be made by the government, it should be made by the woman and their family, and their doctors.
