i love it, thanks! his swing and release appears to be all finesse. whenever he throws a bad shot he says he grabbed it. i think many bowlers games are based on grabbing it, which to me is working too hard. also, i think his game (and many others) proves you dont need to throw 1000 revs and 20 mph to be exceptional at bowling.

A thing of beauty. PDW is still right at the top of the game even at 50 years old, because of this release. I could watch him bowl for ever.

He makes it look so easy. He floats like a ballet dancer. The best walking the approach.

Awesome you have a pic with PDW! I loved him as a kid along with Holmes, Roth, Monacelli (sp), Aulby, etc. Closest I came was bowling with Dave Traber back in the early 90's. Still cool. Thanks for posting

If you think a picture is cool back in the 1990's the pbs would come to Erie pa every year to host the flagship open. Me and my parents own a bowling alley called Eastway lanes. Pete weber would stay at our house every year instead of a motel/hotel. I also used to live next door to bob learn jr (mr. 300) before he moved to Detroit. Erie really was the place to be before the pbs moved away

There's plenty of bowlers with nearly 90 degrees axis rotation but Pete has something 99.9% of them don't have: Projection. Pete gets his ball to float effortlessly through the heads with left to right projection and still has a predictable and consistent break point. Most guys with that much axis rotation don't know when the ball is going to hook or how much it's going to hook. Pete's ball roll is rare in that it creates area on a flat pattern. He creates hold where no one else has it and also creates recovery where everyone else is flagging the head pin.

As much as I'd want to have a release like PDW, I wouldn't mind settling for a picture with him. Thanks for the vid!!!

It isn't just his swing that I love, it's his impeccable footwork. I certainly can't duplicate his swing, but I feel like I could improve my game by having that kind of walk to the foul line.

What sets PDW's technique apart is the absolutely smooth acceleration in the downswing. You see the ball start to fall with gravity, and then gradual force is applied from the 9 o'clock position through the rest of the swing. He ends up with a powerful shot, yet nowhere in the process does he torque it. He's able to do whatever subtle adjustment with the hand at the end that he wants because the follow through is so relaxed. If not for the whining/ego/posturing/shades, I'd be a big Weber fan.

I've been watching Pete Weber videos a lot recently because my PSO told me that my release is almost identical to PDW's. I have a very high amount of axis rotation (almost 90 degrees) and low axis tilt. My ball has a lot of side roll and I prefer pearl or polished bowling balls because I get a large hook on the backend.

He gets so much side turn its sickening, thats why he can attack those flatter patterns so efficiently. He can get his ball to push through the front part of the lane while others are struggling with it hooking to soon. Just a master at it!!!
@crashcarney10011 жыл бұрын
I personally don't see why people are so jealous of Pete, he has been a good bowler forever!!! I like the fact that he doesn't conform to everyone's wants of him and he is his own person... That's what makes him PDW.
@bowlinggod70213 жыл бұрын
@0007123451 Its the fact that he gets so much side turn with zero grab that makes him tough on these flat patterns. Many people wonder why the open hand. Its because his hand is super relaxed.

How the hell is Pete Weber so good with a release like that? I have been told and heard that coming around the side of the ball that much isn't ideal and want to be more up the back of the ball at the release.

If not for your inability to see through anybodies individual character flaws, someone might be a big fan of yours!!

Jealous? What a bizarre comment. You sound like one of those people who thinks he has to cheer for the Yankees because they have a lot of titles. I admire PDW's technique very much; that doesn't obligate me to be in his corner jumping up and down. So go ahead, stick with your "winners" and sneer at the rest of us, but I'll like who I like, and support who I like.
@crashcarney10011 жыл бұрын
@ 5lousycents... Sounds to me like you're a little insecure of your abilities. I never called "YOU" jealous. Simply a general statement to anybody who does not admire his talents and what he has done for the sport. I do stick with the winners, cause they help me be a winner. He is my favorite, but I like others. I bowled with his father as a youth bowler and watched him grow every step of the way, through the hard times, and especially the good!! To judge his character is a weak move!!!!

I love how all these fake bowlers (2 hand ) need to cheat to reach the same hook angle weber gets with 1 hand.
@IxBl4ckH4rtxI5 жыл бұрын
how tf is 2 handing cheating. bowling is just about throwing a ball behind a line and knocking the most pins down. just because they can have higher revs doesnt it make it cheating
