Peter is the one who sings, plays guitar and writes the songs. His concert album 'Frampton Comes Alive' was his breakout album and made him well known. It was the biggest selling album of 1976 and was #1 on Billboard's top 200 for 10 weeks. Try 'Do you Feel Like we Do' from that album- it blew everyone away!

never see his name in great guitarist lists, yet could play Clapton under the table.

This song brings me back to the summer nights of laying on the hood if the car at the lake staring at the stars with this song blaring on the car eight track player.

Frampton never does the same solo exactly twice, but who does. Still (this) one of the best I’ve heard in years.

He's a brilliant guitarist who does not get nearly enough respect because he was once a huge popstar, and people stopped taking him seriously as a musician. He has a HUGE catalogue of amazing music. And he's just wonderful live. Just spin Frampton Comes Alive and Frampton Comes Alive II. If you don't love both of them, I'd be shocked. He always has a killer band.

Frampton is world class and very underrated. He came from the bands The Herd and Humble Pie. His first solo album, Winds of Change, is incredible. He has Ringo Starr playing on it. This song originally is from his followup album, Frampton's Camel, another amazing record. As noted below, his Frampton Comes Alive album was HUGE. Every record collection of the day contained this album and it had 3 top 40 hits. As you can tell from this recording, Frampton has a wonderful voice, is a great songwriter and his guitar playing is melodic and definitely world class.

Sisterdebmac has it pretty much right! Peter was in Humble Pie early on, formed his own band called Frampton's Camel -- but only hit it big with the Frampton Comes Alive double-live album in 1975, which includes this performance. If you go back and listen to his early studio records, you might find the energy sort of lacking or subdued -- which is why the live record was such a revelation! So much energy and power! Peter continued to release albums through the 80's and 90's and 00's and even 2021, which again are criminally underlooked. And his studio sound has improved so much on those records. "Thank You Mr. Churchill," "Fingerprints," "Now," "Hummingbird in a Box," "Peter Frampton Forgets the Words," -- all are excellent listening for guitar fans.

This song came out when I was in the 3rd grade. I didn't get into Frampton until the 6th grade when the double live album "Frampton Comes Alive!" came out. Every single one of my friends owned this album by the time 7th grade (junior high school) rolled around. It was epic at that time and all the girls were gaga over Frampton. He really earned his spot among great guitarists.

Another fabulous singer/songwriter is Dan Fogelberg. Very different style but powerful music. Check out his song Netherlands. He makes these huge but seamless transitions that just amaze me. Also his tune Part of the Plan.

This is the live version of the song which came out in '76 on the legendary "Frampton comes alive" double album, on the album this song preceded his all time classic "Do you feel like we do" which blew everyone's minds, you must listen to the live version from this album. Saw him live 20 years ago in Sydney & he was still brilliant. Cheers

Frampton's lead style was heavily influenced by jazz great Wes Montgomery. Frampton uses various modulated scales in most of his playing, which gives it a distinctive sound and feel. I want also to mention that he's suffering a degenerative neuro-muscular condition called Inclusion Body Myositis. It's not reversible. Somehow he's still able to perform, but it won't be long till he has to retire.

What makes him different is his phrasing. He rarely plays typical rock licks. He was jazz influenced and used scalular lines as opposed to licks. His solos are very lyrical and melodic.

I saw Peter Frampton in 1976 and 1979.. Both shows were amazing. He's very underrated as a guitar player for sure. Like others have said, next.... "Do You Feel Like We Do?" also from the Frampton Comes Alive album.. the whole album is actually great and worth giving a listen to.

Frampton Comes Alive is one of the best selling live albums of all time. Absolutely everyone had that album. A good one of his is one that he just did a couple of years ago with the Doobie Brothers - Let it Rain. It’s a video they recorded during the pandemic. Peter is now in his 70s.
