WOW!! Everyone should listen to the hopefulness in this song. It brings tears to my eyes every time I listen to it. Not to mention the memories that wash over me when I look at the kids in the audience. God I loved being part of the boomer generation.

There will never be another PPM. Time, place and need brought them together and we sure could use another group of American troubadours like them once again. The songs, the memories, the social unrest. Are we there again? Time will tell.

I get it and peace is good but you have to have balls and backbone to maintain a peaceful society..."people sleep safely in their beds at night because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalfs..."
@JustAFocus4 жыл бұрын
@@heightsofsagarmatha But see, that's just a belief system that we have. It says that peace doesn't come free, that you must FIGHT for your freedom, that peace always comes at a cost, that we cannot know joy without knowing sorrow and pain, and so on. And we have "holy:-days (holidays) to remember all of the sacrifices made for peace and freedom, and to honor the people who "gave their lives to protect our freedoms." And on and on it goes. It is a belief system that is all fear-based. That's it. The true opposite of love is not hate, it is fear. For if you "hate" something, it actually means that you love a person or thing or concept SO MUCH that you "hate" whatever it might be that threatens it or offends it or "violates" it. So, the true opposite of love is fear. And fear creates our wars. It creates the belief systems that perpetuate mistrust of others. And upon that belief system, more belief systems are built, which say that we must always "stand ready" (out of fear of what might happen) to deal out violence and death on our "enemies" in the name of "maintaining and protecting a peaceful society." Read that last phrase again and understand how ironic it is. It is all fear-based. It doesn't have to be this way. I believe that despite surface appearances, we are on our way to creating that better model for the world. We are thrashing right now with old energy vs new energy, and the old ideas die hard, and there are many people who have these beliefs so ingrained that they will cling to them and fight against change. But change will happen -- IS happening. There is a global shift going on -- we are just in the growing pains of it now. All will be well when the day is done.

Does anyone know the date they played this? 2015? I see all the little kids in the audience singing it along word for word. There's a decades difference in age between the little ones and PP&M, and it's wonderful to see. I was a child of the 60's being 10 in 1962. I grew up loving these groups (along with the Seekers(!). In 1971 left home and the BeeGees hit it big. I was in Washington, DC and found another obsession. DISCO girl! What a great time to grow up in!

I don't know how boomers have such a knack for turning something that's completely not divisive into an argument. You'd be angsty too if you had to deal with a bunch of boomers. You guys were spoiled rotten as kids, apparently never went to school, and now sit here giving advice like you have anything worthwhile to say. You tanked every major market and life in the US is significantly more difficult because of your generations selfishness and we still have to pay for your no good leeches in your retirements. Ugh.

@@justinbarnard8749 As a PP&M diehard since the age of 5 BECAUSE OF THIS VERY CONCERT, this millennial is INSULTED AND OUTRAGED at the ignorance of one sh9683. SOME OF US love Peter, Paul, and Mary DEARLY and have been learning PLENTY from The Trio and now sadly just The Duo all of our lives. I could WELL make the argument that without PP&M, the boomer generation FAILED US !!! I'm going to see Peter Yarrow and Noel Paul Stookey together in one week's time at the Freight and Salvage Coffeehouse in Berkeley, California for only the second time ever (barring the show's don't get cancelled from you ignorant boomers spreading coronavirus EVERYWHERE and trying to ruin my dreams), and fort that little boy who never got to see Mary with The Boys in person, I TAKE UMBRAGE ! I have adored these guys all my life, and I think it is utterly REPULSIVE and DISGUSTING that someone could question my values so deeply!God willing in one week, I will take Peter and Noel's hand one more time, and I hope and pray that all will be well when the day is done.
