My family has been trucking Owner Operater since my moms dad and my fathers dad went in together in the woods of Northern California and they always drove Kenworth as a kid i always thought i would drive the same till it came time to come home from Mt Hood in Oregon i had been out of town with my dad living in a logging camp for 2 months and it was time for me to return to Northern California and Dave Hammonds just happen to be headed home for maintenance he couldnt do in the woods so i got my first ride in a truck that wasnt a KW and let me tell u it was love at first sight compared to my fathers truck this Peterbuilt had rocker switches that lit up and that Corvette dash the speedo and tach were displayed were sexy to me and Ive Been a Peterbuilt man since.

I worked in the plant from '11-13. got laid off. but got my degree in mechanical engineering and now i am back at peterbilt designing and engineer the latest and mechanic/driver friendly truck to come. Been in the field as a diesel mechanic for 5 years and after working on them. its time to make a difference and make it more mechanic friendly and driver friendly. get them back on the road.
@markm00007 жыл бұрын
Hopefully you don't get burnt out over all the red tape, budgets, and bureaucracy. Then lobbyists from dealers and repair business that want to make sure the customer can't easily fix these trucks.
@jasonman15157 жыл бұрын
Sadly all these new trucks are all getting so technical and computerize. It would be hard for a customer to fix it themselves. If they can afford the copyright diagnostic program for the truck. But what I am trying to do is that in the event if a trucker is broke down, the trucker can call a dealer or a shop and tell the technician what particular whats wrong with it so they can get it repair quickly and get the trucker back on the road.

Trucks today are ugly and those sloped hoods and high dashboard give very limited visibility. I hate the limited visibility created by the stupid wide cabs as well. Don't even get me started on the crappy turning and rideability of set back axles they beat the hell out of you. It's like riding in a damn cabover on top of the wheels! Absolutely horrendous!

At 1:13 the man standing under the load is Armand E Olsen. "Snozz Olsen." he was #1 truck driver until he retired in 1976. He hired on at Snoqualmie running a speeder while railroad logging. When the decided to truck log from Camp B under "Truck Hill," He was offered the chance to be the guinea pig with the first truck. He never looked back. I secondloaded for him just before he retired. He was quite the character. A fun guy to work around and a real gentleman.

Skate Creek Diesel Log Truck 12' bunks and cheese blocks. There used to be one up at Ashford WA during the 1960's that ran. The owner let me drive it a few miles up the West Fork Mainline. Kind of cool, but what a hard truck to drive. Although it was better than the L series Mack I had driven. As long as the truck as bunks and stakes, it can only be a fun truck to drive. Freight trucks, nah, who want to spend all day on the pavement?

While the 387 was the first integral sleeper for Peterbilt, it wasn't THE first in the industry. Freightliner and Volvo had them before Peterbilt. Even though I have nothing against Peterbilts, I've always run Freightliners. I don't know if Freightliner had the first integral sleeper or not, but, I still own a 1995 FLD120 with a 70" mid-roof and I know that they'd been building them for a few years before that. Volvo might have been first though.
