After being contacted several times from this brand to get close and personal with any of their watches, this particular model which they have just released has caught my attention, The Dirty Dozen DD-45
Watch: praesidus.com/pages/dirty-doz...
Thanks for watching..

When you follow the link it takes a lot of digging to find the price. There is endless verbiage about WW2 and heritage - but other info is hard to locate. At $925, I can get a Hamilton or Tissot - with a large dealership and service infrastructure attached. However, I like that design, for sure ;-)

That's a good review, Peter. I like Vaer's version, if only for the price (Miyota 9xxx series, no ghost) and the lume. At this price, you should have received a better sample, no ghost.

Hello and thanks for this video Peter. I wrote on another video about this watch that one of the Dirty Dozen's brands continue, today, to produce its dirty dozen : Vertex. And I aksed why purchase this Preasidus when you could have a Vertex. Some answered because of the price. I fully understand that. But I'll always prefer to do not buy a watch than to buy an homage, even if this homage is pretty cool, as this Preasidus is.

I think this is a tough sell, I think it looks great but it also expensive for the quality and who wants two lume colours. My biggest issue with it is it’s just another dirty dozen copy, there are already lots of them, why does no one sneak a date window in at 6 o’clock and make a version for date lovers or do something else to differentiate the watch.

The price is slightly more than it should, but it's a small company and it's also an American company. I'm ok with the price. I will get one sooner or later, best field watch IMO for my liking. 38mm, 20mm lugs, automatic, clean dial, dial options and perfect lug to lug length. You really can't find something like this. Other field watches are either too small, lug to lug lengths are too long, poor water resistance, too pricey, nothing falls in a modern sweet spot. I hope Patek Philippe would see this brand and rethink their unrealistic asking price for the 5526G at a retail price (if they will sell you one) of $40,000 USD. Yes it's a Patek, yes it's white gold, and yes it's hand decorated, but... seriously WTF dude! Even if I had the money to buy a few 5970 Perpetual Chronographs. $40 grand for a field watch?

Very nice review: But for that price, I just expect more. The lume should not be an issue at all at this price point. Also I would prefer a non screw down crown and a handwinding movement. But that's just my two cents. Nice looking watch though I must admit. For me their "Rec Spec" is way more tempting.

This is a pretty nice d12-style option. But, my favorite modern d12 watch from one of the original manufacturers of them from WW2 is the m100a from Vertex. The dial details and especially the lume are awesome. And, their build quality is excellent, as well. They are rather pricey, but, I never regretted having bought one. Looks like they are likely to finally make a more true to vintage size 36mm version of their m100 in the near future. I'm looking forward to that one. From what I've seen so far from a recent pic, it's translated pretty nicely down size from their original 40mm version. The only thing are the handset sizes. The hour hand could be shortened a bit as it's nearly the same size as the minute hand.. odd, as the 40mm never had this proportion issue. Hopefully, it's just an early prototype and they will adjust the handset to be more proportionate and easier to differentiate.

What can one say? You've looked at the execution in detail and the design is a very nice interpretation of the classic dirty dozen. The height, for an ETA clone movement, seems unnecessarily thick, but it doesn't look overly thick on the wrist, so that can probably be forgiven. What is more difficult to understand is the price. It seems to me that this is a high price for the type of movement in it. I don't know if Landeron versions are simoly pricier and what, if any, the advantages of that version are, but the watch does lose significant appeal among the very broad choice of Dirty Dozen inspired watches coming in at this price.

That's a little beauty. Personally, I'd regulate it. In no small parts I owe this to you I'm able to do this. Oh and they should offer a shorter version of the lovely strap. As you say, it's going to have too much overlap when you punch more holes in it.

As you know Alex, my attitude is this: if the watch is very expensive or in-house movement, then don't open the case back...leave it to the professionals. If its relatively straight forward and not too expensive...give it a crack 😊😂😂

A ghost position implies that it's a movement with a calendar complication that has been suppressed here. Why not use a manual wind movement instead? It would make it slim and more faithful. The size is just wrong since 36mm would be more appropriate and contemporary for a DD. The www at the back is just tacky.

I own the Praesidus “Service Watch” that came out a while ago and I love that watch. I think I paid $200 ish for that watch. This watch looks much better…but $875? Does a sapphire Crystal and eta clone demand that high a price nowadays? I don’t think it does and that’s pretty disappointing. If there were an option with an NH35 movement at around $350 - $400 I’d buy 2 and STILL save money compared to this version.

Isn't it a bit early to judge the accuracy? It will take a few weeks for the movement to 'bed in' and the oils to distribute. The accuracy could improve after a couple of months. Also have they even used a chronometer grade of that eta 2824 clone? If they havn't then 8 seconds a day is not unreasonable.

A beautiful watch... I have a Rec-spec and that too is a awesome watch for the price. But this one? the nano-second you put Swiss on the watch it triples the price. While period accurate it just makes this piece WAY overpriced for what if offers. This piece is for the collectors and deep pocketed faithful. If I had to get a Dirty Dozen homage I'd get a Baltany field watch and save a TON of money. Great concept and a beautiful watch but that price? NOPE.

Why by a copy of a WW2 watch own the real thing. I wear a 1943 Omega that looks like your new watch. There is a decent supply of the real watches are available. Many watch companies made them. They are a simple manual 15 b jewel movement. Mine is a Omega. Why buy a clone copy. Buy from eBay you have a 30 day guarantee if it does not work return to the seller at their expense. My Omega keep good time and it is a snap to set and wear, Own a real piece of history.
