Street sport bikes are easily outselling Super Sport bikes, and even the manufacturers are encouraging this trend by dumping money into better and better road first motorcycles. Is the Super Sport really best for you, or will you get the most enjoyment from a street sport bike? Check these bikes out at Macleans Sports here: macleanssports.com

I bought a 8R. It's everything he said, it's very fun to ride. Comfortable, great parking lot manners. Feels well balanced, don't like how quiet the stock exhaust is. But plenty of fun usable power!

The 8R definitely seems like the better bike for me, and both look great but the GSXR 600 has a more appealing, timeless design. The tiny rear of the 8R, when combined with the large front end, gives the bike strange proportions, reminiscent of T-rex arms. The GSXR looks more balanced in comparison. The 8R also has a long rear fender which probably should never be removed because the stubby rear end is likely not long enough to block water or dirt flung up from the rear tire. Still a great looking bike, but the GSXR just looks better IMO

My GSXS1000F had the same tail design, and it's exactly as you say. I ended up buying a used stock rear fender and it was so much better in the rain. As for which bike to own, ABS/TC is really hard to give up even if you're an experienced rider. It's so easy to accidentally lock up a front tire in bad conditions, like rain at night in urban areas.

I just bought a new 2024 GSXR600 about two months ago. I was looking at the 8R, but that front end looks awful to me. Not sure what they were thinking with that odd looking cyclops looking headlight :) I just couldn't get past the headlights and how weird it looked to me. I'm very happy with my purchase though. The GSXR600 is like a little rocket ship ;)

I actually like the look of the front of the 8r. I hear what you say. They could have styled it more, but I think the GSXR600 looks just a little dated in the headlight. To each their own. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

What these bikes "do do "well, ;) is offer a more cost affordable motorcycle with much more realistic (not super powered) abilities for regular public roads that are often uneven, filled with unexpected hazards, and lots of other vehicles, unlike the track focused Sport Bikes costing twice as much. Nice review, thanks. Cool bikes. Faster isn't always more fun.

@corvinhua4479

I have a GSXR750. I absolutely love it. But I recognise that it's a compromised bike for street use. Low speed maneuvering in parking lots isn't great. I also have a Street Triple 765, which is a perfect street sports bike. But not as thrilling to ride. The 8R is a great package, but the handlebars are a deal breaker. The way they are mounted is ugly and it's just too upright. It feels like an 8S with fairings. If it was more aligned with the Daytona 660's riding position, that would work for me.
@Sprocket01
@Sprocket01 29 күн бұрын
Heh, it is an 8S with fairings. Don't you find that the GSXR is hard on your wrists/neck/back? I'm quite happy with my GSX S1000GT currently, but have been eyeing the BMW S1000RR more than a bit. In Quebec, if your bike is on the "naughty list" by the Ministry of Transport, your plate is 2k a year instead of the 800/year for what I have now. Anything that is considered 'super sports' is on the list. So that is definitely a factor when deciding on a bike (for me).
@corvinhua4479
@corvinhua4479 29 күн бұрын
@@Sprocket01 Yeah, you pay a penalty with super sport bikes in Australia too. Insurance premiums are much higher. I've never felt any back pain on the GSXR or any other super sport, but neck pain and right wrist pain was an issue at first. The pain goes away after you adapt your posture. A straight spine or slightly curved inward relieves neck pain. You also need to squeeze the tank with your thighs and use your core to relieve pressure from your wrist. The S1000RR is a great bike, but like any other super sport, shifting body weight plays a bigger role in cornering. A lot of people find the riding position of sport bikes intimidating, but it's just a matter of adaptation. Your body will naturally find a comfortable position. The riding style is more engaging than upright naked bikes.

Can’t you just raise the handlebars or get aftermarket clip ons for the SS, and get the best of both? I think that Suzuki should’ve maintained a four cylinder for the GSX 8S/8R series
@CollinMac96
@CollinMac96 Ай бұрын
Suzuki would have to discontinue the 750 if they made the 8 an i4. The bikes would be too similar performance wise. Now you can get raised clip ons for the 600 but the ride and seating is a bit awkward depending on how tall you ate

This past weekend I was invited to a group ride that was held by my dealer and Suzuki and I rode the 8R for about 45 minutes. Overall, I think it's a great bike that is well suited to its market segment. However, in my limited exposure to it, I found the quickshifter's downshifts to be a bit notchy. I quite enjoyed riding the Katana for a similar amount of time.

Would you say the 8r could be a beginner bike?
@Sprocket01
@Sprocket01 29 күн бұрын
@@SWTVENOM I would absolutely say that the 8R can be a first bike. That being said, it would be for someone that has self control, but it's not much different in power than my SV 650 (the BEST beginner bike IMHO). I would recommend either one before a Yamaha MT07! I had that one out two and a half weeks ago and really didn't like it. The MT 10SP (not a beginner bike) was a lot of fun.

It depends on what you consider a real race car? Like fuel cell, race gas, plexi windows, cut chassis, etc? Yes that would suck, but you’re getting into a very specific class because there’s restrictions for weight, what needs to be factory as far as body, chassis, glass. A super sport isn’t a race bike. It’s more like driving a Ferrari, the performance is there but you’re sacrificing a lot as far as comfort and you’re never going to get the most out of it if you’re on the street. I prefer the sport car your 911, M3, Corvette. The have your cake and eat it too. So your sporty naked bikes. Which is also why I own the sporty naked bike and not the sport car. One is affordable and the other is not.
