While smoking my favourite English blend, the Peterson My Mixture 965 i was offered to try this blend and compare the two. Well, i have now a new English favourite!!
Blend info.
A supreme style of pipe tobacco based on the renowned cool smoky aroma of Cyprus Latakia. To perfect this delightful tobacco there are selected golden Virginias with aromatic Black Cavendish and sweet Greek grades added to satisfy the fastidious pipe smoker.

Wow great deal you found. Old Dublin is a good one. English blends are some of the best, I’ve been enjoying Sutliff Majestic English

Yes I agree on all counts😊 I will want to try the sutliff majestic. I did actually buy some sutliff aromatics bulk tobacco on a sale at smoking pipes. Will need to wait for the majestic. Thanks for your suggestion

@TheVapingPiper. The old Dublin is one of my all time favourite English & so is the 965. I agree with you Nathan that the old Dublin is a bit smokier & sweeter and that is why i enjoy it so much. As for the Old Ironsides what can i say i recommended you well didn't i 😂 Take care mate 👍

I’m on the 965 side of this fence. I like that it doesn’t have the Virginias so for me it’s a good change-of-pace smoke. That said, the Old Dublin is going to appeal to folks who prefer some Virginia.

Hi Nathan. I too enjoy the Old Dublin, indeed the boldness & smokiness is nearer to the Night Cap then to the 965. The Rosso Raffinato is more on the vanilla then the coffee as is the Toscano Rosso it is a lovely small Italian Kentucky leaf cigar it is hugely popular in Italy & i assume elsewhere as well & i know how much you enjoy the Toscano Rosso. i personally enjoy the Rosso a bit more. Nice review of Old Dublin Nathan, ive not tried that one yet but ive had a tin for a while that i was saving til winter but im going to open it shortly to give it a go myself. 965 is the best English in my opinion and one of my top two favourites of all, it would have to be exceptional to beat that for me. I will try it soon and let you know what i think. I also have a couple tobaccos i would like to send you soon if you would care for them, I will email you when i can.

Great review Nathan. I must admit when I first tried it. I didn’t like it. so after watching this video. I pulled it out of my seller to try it again. I actually found that I like it better than my mixture 965. Totally surprised. My pallet must be changing. Hooray!

That is not uncommon John. Some blends need aging to fully enjoy or sometimes it is a mindset or perhaps a more refined palette that do the trick. That is why I always advise never throw away a blend you don’t like when smoked for the 1st time, store it in a mason jar and come back to it in a few months you might be pleasantly surprised ,as proven😊 enjoy it

That is a good price from Germany. May I be so bold as to ask what online tobacconist you use in Germany? I am not so familiar with most of the Petersons, other than the Dunhill they took on. Hi! Very glad I found your channel. Would you mind telling me about your meerschaum pipe? I don't have one in my collection though I've been curious about adding one. Particularly like the style you have here. I haven't tried old dublin yet. I started with aromatics as most people do, then was out of it for about 6 years. last year I bought my first English blend Mr. B's English blend and absolutely adore it! Had I known I would have gone straight for it over aromatics. Sweet, sour, creamy smokey, a pure joy! Here in BC Canada it seems that the government has put a complete ugly boot down on tobacco, and it seems tricky to get tobacco shops to carry much variety. Very glad I found it and looking forward to trying others as well. I was recently in England and was astonished at how impossible it seemed to find pipe tobacco. Cigarettes and vaporizer crud but no good quality tobacco for pipes. Quite disappointed. Oh well, Squadron leader and Old Dublin will get here one day.

Welcome 😊 few of my Meerschaum pipes including the one smoked in this video are from Altinay in Turkey and some I purchased in the UK but also sourced in Turkey. Of all the English blends I've tried, there are two that stand above all others, OLD IRONSIDES and GASLIGHT from G.L. PEASE. Gaslight is a must try. Have a great day, fellow pipe smoker.

😀 no comment. A fairly good alternative in vape form is the yellow Latakia by centenary mods or the La Tabaccheria Latakia grand reserve.
