Update: I recently discovered (thanks to many comments and further investigation, that the other sponsor (not Adam and Eve) I had in this video has engaged in some seriously questionable, and problematic behavior that does not at all align with my standards. I have cut out that sponsor (I do not wish to name as I do not want to send any traffic to them at all) and am donating the proceeds to charity. Thank you for sending me the information and education on this company, your insight is extremely important to me.
The downfall and return of Shane Dawson and his lies, deflection, and manipulation continues and is disgusting. We need to talk about Shane Dawson’s past and present behavior and apology, hypocrisy, power dynamics, and accountability that no one is really talking about. Are we now supposed to feel bad for Shane Dawson? Who is accountable? Something doesn’t sit right in this masterclass of how to get away with, well, anything.

I really suggest not partnering with established titles again, SWOOP. The thing about Scotland is that it has a history of colonial buying like the with the British, but now that folks in the UK are more aware of the negative effects, they’re marketing to Americans. Established Titles is a corporation run out of Hong Kong that supports the rulership of the royal family over colonized Scottish land. The trees they plant in Scotland are actually strategically places to prevent Celtic-Scottish people from claiming or resettling traditional land that was stolen by rebranding it as protected by American land interest and forested areas. The project that inspired this was actually when Israel did the same thing in Palestine, collecting donations to plant trees on traditional Palestinian land they had forcibly removed Palestinian people from so that the rightful caretakers of the land could not return. That isn’t even to mention that while this company is planting trees to act as the equivalent of a British flag, British companies have been mass deforest if spiritually significant forests and destroying spiritual landmarks for centuries and have not stopped. I know these issues are not things Americans are necessarily aware of but colonialism is a global problem that effects non-North American countries as well, so please be wary whenever you hear of these so called “charities” selling cheap land. It’s usually for these reasons.

Yeah I figured. I clicked on the link just to read up on it and immediately felt like it was a horrible idea and it just contributed to colonialism. Not to mention you can’t even use the land, it’s for the sole purpose of having a title. It’s like when they try to sell stars to people but more damaging.

If he was really being accountable to what he himself said was the right thing losing his career then he wouldn’t have come back to KZfaq he let his career stay dead and buried and if he’s not holding himself accountable he can’t be different just another thing he’s trying to brush away it’s a cycle of manipulation and abuse people think past the tone focus on the words please manipulators can sometimes play it of in a joking tone to give you a false sense of security but lure you back in that general cycle

I've had multiple KZfaq channels deleted by KZfaq because I pointed out the hypocrisy and evil deeds of the government as they claimed "bullying" as the reason, yet these kinds of people can continue and monotize the channel. What we need to remember is that Shane never disappeared after his "cancellation/controversy". He was always there and pushed the boundary of being away without actually being away from the public eye every time. The first was his story posts on his IG on his mercy followed by coming on Rylands and others IG. He then came many times on Rylands podcast and even was on camera. He came on multiple videos on Ryland channel. Then came on jefree channel followed by finally officially coming on his own KZfaq channel. So it was never that he totally disappeared off social media for the year and then came back on YT. He was always there creeping behind the shadows and slowly testing the waters. The first times when he came on Ig and rylands channels were met with so much more talk and attention than Shane's actual YT. He basically desensitized his coming back bec he was always back but just not on big channel. So it's extremely important to remember that Shane was never off the internet to reflect. He was always there just not on his YT

I remember watching some black and white movie where a Chinese character was played by a white man in dark makeup to look the stereotypical “yellow man”. the character was exaggerated to the point where it was comparable to the “Mammy” stereotype of POC women or black face characters in old movies. I remember getting annoyed that they couldn’t just cast an actual Chinese person to play a non-caricaturized version of the character.

People like Shane really influenced my friends and I as young teenagers. It was like the “cool” thing to be into gross and shocking things. I even knew blackface was bad, and I still watched him. I guess back then I put Shane, South Park, a few comedians, and other crude tv shows and movies in the same category. Now obviously I look back and I realize how dumb I was. But most kids are dumb with their common sense. When someone online is so popular and they are normalizing blackface, younger people are gonna think it’s fine. That’s kinda how it is. But the world has changed a lot since then. And side note… I didn’t really listen to his podcast when he had it, and hearing some of those things for the first time recently was jarring.

The "jokes" that are disgusting now were disgusting back then too, many people like me never consumed his content. So it's annoying that many people around him like his mother, his ex girlfriend, his ex friends, his new friends, his new partner, youtube and his audience who knew and laughed at his stupid jokes are all disgusting too. Now there are so many people acting like nothing ever happened and that he was a poor victim of cancellation, that people have no brains either.

You know, I am a firm believer in redemption, I wrote my thesis on the subject (albeit in fiction). Redemption is essentially made up of six parts: innocence, corruption (this can be from something internal or external), the corrupted state, inciting of redemption, culmination of redemption, and life after. What Shane and everyone needs to understand is that the life after is not going back to innocence, it's being a goddamn grown up and learning and growing and owning up to that shit and living with the consequences. You don't get to go back to being innocent and pure, and you definitely don't get to keep all the stuff you got while you were corrupted. You cannot be redeemed while continuing to hold onto your money and fame born out of corruption. Shane is not redeemed because if he was, he wouldn't be coming back.

The sponsor “Established titles” is a scam. Unfortunately, acquiring a one square meter plot of land in some Scottish backwater isn’t enough to have a title of nobility bestowed upon you. Believe it or not, Scotland actually has a court dedicated to overseeing all issues of heraldry which covers things like specific coat of arms usage and titles. It may seem silly, but the Scottish, and British for that matter, take this stuff really seriously. Anyway, it is known as The Court of the Lord Lyon and it ruled pretty emphatically that programs like Established Titles are not real. The court found that titles, including Lady or Lord, aren’t really names, but instead a description of people living on specific estates. Anyone owning a souvenir land plot, apartment or other residential property have no right to use these titles. As for that $49.95 you’re spending on land, well you’re not even getting that either. The Land Registration (Scotland) Act 2012 clearly states that souvenir plots can’t be registered with the Land Register of Scotland which means you don’t actually legally own the land. In fact, the plot you have “bought” can be sold to other people as well since it’s not registered. Of course, Established Titles claims not to do this and fair play to them. But they are also trying to sell you something that has no real value so it does kind of feel like a scam. Established Titles has countless of positive reviews and plenty of people on social media stumping for their nonsense product, but it’s not hard for scammers to do this. These people all talk about how cool it is to call themselves a Lord or Lady which is fine. Some even mention being treated better on flights and such when using their title. But here’s the thing. You can give yourself whatever the hell title you want anyway. Is anyone actually going to ask for proof of Lordship? It’s highly unlikely. Could you imagine one of the uninterested members of a check-in crew asking to see land ownership records to prove you really are, in fact, a Lord? Yeah, me neither. Once I accidentally select Dr. as my title for a flight. No one asked to see a degree or any credentials. If you really want to be known as a Lord or Lady, you can do without buying a phony plot of land in Scotland. Just start filling in forms with Lord as your title and save yourself the $49.95. You could even print out a fake certificate if you felt so inclined. Are Established Titles real? No. And even if they were, you could literally call yourself a Lady or Lord anyway. It’s not like anyone outside of Scotland would notice or care.

Lol the dude from Motley Crew's real ass name is Nikki Sixx, for example. He went down to the DMV and changed it. Lol for free. You don't have to own a square foot of land anywhere. The advertisement makes it seem like you need to though. It says something about being a Scottish traditional that anyone owning land is a lord or lady. I don't know how anyone ever believed that either. Don't they know that probably most people in Scotland own the land they live on...that would make most people a lord or lady. That seems like something we would've heard of.

Tbh I fully agree with him, Let’s look at what Tati did, actually it’s very similar to what swoop herself did. Tati even if it was factual they jumped on a huge platform to expose her so called friend James coz she was hurt by his collaboration with a vitamin product, now when the internet switched up the hate on James bandwagon and it backfired directly to her, she then apologised to James and threw the blame to two others, besides the backlash it sounds so similar to what swoop did right? Coz if these people truly felt that way about the friend they were exposing why did they continue a friendship for so long? This doesn’t excuse the behaviour of people that have been exposed, it also doesn’t excuse the people that did the exposing, we see teens that harm themselves over high school bullying, yet this exposing does exactly he same shit, it tells your fan base these people are horrible people, and then that fan base does what high school kids do, they get nasty, dox, threaten harm or death to the person exposed, we talk about intent and yeah harmful comments and actions are not mistakes, so knowing the way the internet works Tati and Swoops intent was to destroy their friends lives, financially and mentally. Pretty shitty huh. So yeah I agree Tati was not as genuine in either video and I do believe some of it was croc tears. What I find fucked up too is these people that do the exposing have benefited from those friendships and then continue to benefit out of the drama it creates, then play victim and act like they are complete saints while being just as shady, that is intentional asf if you ask me.

@@pickled_sausage One of the reasons why people believed what Tati said, because she was the least problematic person in the beauty community. That's one of the reason why Jefree and Shane acted trough her: Shane had no standing in the community and Jafar doesn't have a baggage so much as he has a cargo container of past sins to eat his credibility. It had to be Tati, because they otherwise had no weight. It's a good thing that KZfaq finally demonetizes these people but they make a lot of money prior to doing that

I loved the Veneers doc. I have two crowns for damaged teeth, but of the 3 teeth damaged in an accident one had to be fully removed. I have a whole there now just behind a canine. You can see it when I smile and it kills me. I can't get an implant until I do braces to reset my bite as an implant cannot be moved ever. The idea of getting snap in Veneers for videos lifts my heart.

i find it interesting the idea of 'cancel culture', because i don't feel like shane's leaving WAS actually being 'cancelled'. he didn't really lose anything in the end, he still has his channel and is still rich. if he like actually lost something or had SOME form of anything bad actually happen. like news articles called him a creep and predatory, but he was never charged, never went to court. it was more he left on his own terms to try and avoid as much backlash, and plan his next move to make money.

Generally, the "cancel culture doesn't exist" thing is so so true. But at least from what ai've seen, there are people who suffer from internet dogpiling... but those people are usually creators who are small-time creators and marginalized people. Regular people with a moderately sized following, who may have just stumbled upon popularity, and more often than not are queer and people of color. Usually mentally ill, as well. Those people are the real victims of "cancel culture." One off-color comment or an unpopular opinion, and small creators can get harrassed off of the internet altogether. And it's usually people punching down or across. But yeah, no, these big big creators like Shane and Jeffree and literally every other rich bigoted POS? "Cancel culture" doesn't exist for them. They still have money, power, influence.

America builds entire businesses off of backs of treating people like trash ie. Racism, sexism, colorism and now influences are just part of our history that oh too many times we have come to accept and excuse. The excuses allows the culture to continue and be forgiven. Swoop and others that create content to be honest and tell the truth SHOULD get 20 million views but clearly the evidence of how forgiving people can be to those "privileged" or "look like him" is evident. I disagree that being "cancelled" isnt a thing. People actually lose there jobs and livelihoods over these things. In youtube world its a little different. The influencers in question are usually VERY popular and have young fans who easily forgive. Whereas people in the media or corporations have actual bosses who fire them and sometimes even black list them after enough outcry for cancellation. So yes, it exists. It just doesnt seem to have a permanent effect on KZfaq personalities. Though certainly you could argue its brought down certain earning power of specific individuals that were at the top of their game. And Bundy is a horrible analogy here as "cancelling" didnt exist then, and he was a prior nobody serial killer sent to prison and eventually death. And even if one was to consider him "cancelled", (as if he was ever something important and popular to people before his crimes were publicized) he wasn't exactly thriving after said cancellation. He was doing hard time in isolation on death row. Sparingly giving out details of girls he killed in an effort to extend his life. Yes he had a few psychotic fan girls, but again that's not someone living the highlife. Anyway i agreed with almost everything you said about Shane, but wholeheartedly disagree cancel culture doesnt exist. (And at times goes too far.) Shane just managed to evade a full cancellation. But at least he would have suffered some monetarily. And was publicly shamed. As youre doing here.

soapbox time: like my parents always said, saying you’re sorry means nothing if you haven’t changed anything. it being ‘a different time’ does not make things okay, and i think that is very important to recognize. like, if you thought something was inconsequential bc it was ‘normal’ when you did it, just own your ignorance instead of distancing yourself from it. i have done and said plenty things out of ignorance that i no longer agree with, and i have no problem admitting that, to myself or to others, because i have learned from those actions and actively changed my behavior. if you’re /actually/ not ignorant anymore, then it shouldn’t be a big deal to acknowledge that you were. plus, if you’re genuinely remorseful, then you shouldn’t even need to be called out for harmful behavior. you just change the way you think, apologize for whatever hurt you caused, and do better in the future without the expectation of reward. a perfect internet example of that is markiplier and friends. back in the early days of their content, aka the ‘different time’ influencers constantly reference, they occasionally said very ignorant things. but they were never pushed to apologize for it, because they just acknowledged their past ignorance, then changed and corrected that behavior on their own, without having to be called out for it. real apologies don’t have to be dramatic, because the actions you take post-apology are what truly makes a difference.

I never forgave Shane and never forgot what he did. I do believe that some people are definitely capable of changing but there are just things that should never be acceptable and like he said (but went back on later) he should have lost everything after all of his shit was brought back to light. I remember watching Shane and being VERY young…probably was about 10-12 years old. Not only did I watch Shane but I also used to watch Onision frequently (since they were very popular creators back then during that era) and I can 100% tell you that because people like Shane and Onision were so popular to younger fans…they created such a dangerous space for these young impressionable minds. I got into relationships with people who used and abused me BECAUSE I thought similar actions and ‘jokes’ were acceptable. And to the young fans who actually met Shane and are now looking back at how they were exploited…I can not imagine how damaging and traumatic that must be for them.. my heart goes out to all those individuals affected by this man. I really hope people wake up one day and stop supporting him. Thankfully, I watched your doc and now am second guessing my decision and realize that I am someone who’s privileged, so of course none of that humor offended me. It’s not my apology to accept. With that said, I’m going to unfollow him and continue second guessing my decisions so that I put other’s opinions and experiences in the forefront of my mind as well. The first thing I ever found of Shane Dawson's was the song, "I'm Sorry I'm a Fuck Up", and, as someone who was in a abusive relationship, and also had an abusive home life, it did resonate with me. But, even tho it did, there were still parts of the song, and definitely parts of the video, that did make me uncomfortable, even at that time. I tried not to care, however, since it did give me some comfort, that there were more "fuck ups" like me out there, people who could literally do *nothing* right (I now know that thought process is wrong). When I tried watching more of his content, however, I couldn't. It wasn't a humor I found... well, funny. I still think of that song sometimes, when things go wrong, but, I try not to, both because I know that thought process, of me being a fuck up and doing everything wrong, is harmful to my recovery, and because just how bad Shane Dawson is as a person. Even making that song, and especially that video, even if it comforted people, was bad. Because, the comfort it gave, wasn't a healthy sort of comfort. It was something that comforted people in a way that just cemented them further into harming themselves.
