Seriously. There's such a large age gap between myself and my older sister (17 yrs), that I'm actually closer in age to my niece (10 yrs), so sometimes I do feel more like "besties" with my niece than her aunt (and in family outings, ppl often mistake me for being her older sister). But you know what? I've STILL never asked her inappropriate questions about sex, or any of that shit that Colleen did (and Colleen is only about 4 yrs older than me)! Like, what the fuck do you mean about not understanding "that there should be some boundaries there"?! Speaking somewhat from experience (both from my personal life and from being in online fandoms w/ younger kids at times), it's not fucking hard to remember that you're the adult in the room, and there's some things that you shouldn't "overshare" w/ kids! So for her to brush this off as if grooming is a ""mistake"" that anyone could make is disgusting.

Yes, the "weird aunt who asks for tea" thing makes me so mad everytime I hear it! I've been an aunt since I was 16 years old (I'm 37 years old now so I'm Colleen's age). I literally asked my 18-year-old niece for the "goss" about some high school drama a month ago. But do you know what I've never done? Asked my nieces and nephews to send me pics of their butts or asked my nieces about their periods or asked my nephews and nieces for advice during my break-up or asked them if they're virgins or or or...! Comparing what she's done to being an awkward aunt asking a teenager about high school drama is just infuriating.

My mom is the weird aunt in our family, her weird aunt activities include making actual fart jokes (not using it as an excuse to gain access to and exploit a minor's body), cheating at board games during family gatherings to make my cousins laugh, knitting socks and hats for everyone, calling out her siblings' bad choices, being the last one ready to leave a party, and helping my 25 years old cousin who dealt with hurdles she herself overcame when she was about her age. They do not include anything remotely close to what this vile woman has done.

Same, I just realized that what's important in Johnny's words is the info about Trisha's nudes, and even then he handled it very poorly- not thinking on how it'll harm every other people involved. Which makes him as a witness slash collaborator than a victim? The other parts that has his appearance in this video are mostly responses to Colleen as well. Unlike Becky, Alex, and Adam's appearances who mentioned how it affected them. "I feel good today", because there's more content to be talked about...? Is that it? Like, even in Adam's response when he says: "everyone meet the REAL Colleen" there's disgusted tone in it, a "WTF, but ig we can't expect less- it's her". I just noticed this after watching part 3 & 4, so there's definitely bias here and there. But man, this does took an ugly turn-

This^ Abusers project their own feelings and expectations onto others. For example: An abusive partner who cheats in their relationship. They are most likely the one who blames the other person for cheating due to reasons they think is typical. If a person of the other gender walks by, they may think their partner is oogling them, because of things they constantly commit themselves. (This example is not intended to describe someone who actually went through the trauma of being cheated on and is now suffering from paranoia) Or another example, if someone laughs at them for tripping over something, they automatically assume others will laugh and judge bc they did that to everyone else. The abuser projects their actions onto the abused. They know what they're doing so they can get out of it.

I don’t know if that fear will ever go away completely, my greatest fear is that I will treat someone with the same abuse and manipulation as she treats her child and grandchildren. A lot of the behaviours in the Illuminatii and Coleen situation didn’t even phase me because I’ve seen them all before, I have been watching them my whole life (she even let a relative who was a pd file touch me in front of her and made me comply when I was 9-12yo) and I did have a habit of lying and trying to get away with things. @@hypatiakovalevskayasklodow9195 You cannot be like her, because you care whether your actions hurt others. You have empathy and compassion. In order to abuse people like she abused you, you would have enjoy making other people suffer. The very fact that you are so terrified of being like her is what proves that you could never be like her. Try to remember that when those fears strike. Also, I'm betting that you go out of your way to make sure your actions aren't harmful to others. Because of that, you are probably less likely than the average person to do something abusive. Most people never even consider the possibility that they could engage in abusive behavior, so they don't do anything to ensure that they won't harm others. Because you put so much effort into monitoring your behavior, it's very unlikely that you could ever do something bad enough to hurt someone like you were hurt. Even if you didn't monitor your behavior you would still be safe from abusing people, because you are able to identify behavior that is abusive. Either an abuser has such a warped sense of reality that they think what they are doing is OK, or they know what they are doing and don't care. You clearly don't live in a warped reality where you think what happened to you was OK, and you clearly care about the way you treat people, so there's just no way that you could accidentally abuse someone. You might accidentally hurt someone's feelings or accidentally do something irresponsible or selfish, but you can't accidentally abuse someone. I know this was kinda long and I repeated myself a lot, but I just wanted to show you how you can use logic to disprove those feelings that you are in danger and that you should be afraid. Logic is your best weapon when it comes to fear, so being able to remind yourself that the thing you are afraid of isn't actually possible and doesn't make sense is a really helpful tool. I have OCD and often end up being afraid that I am inherently toxic or that I've been manipulating people without knowing it or that I'm actually a horrible person and am just in denial, and using logical statements like what I said before is what helps me to quell the anxiety and overcome the compulsion to check all my memories for any sign that my fears are true and end up in a crisis where I am questioning my entire identity. Anyways, I hope this helps and that you are able to continue healing

@@hypatiakovalevskayasklodow9195Well, I'm gonna tell you two things. The first one is that yes, you are probably going to discover that there are some traits that you share with your grandma. You share 25% of your dna with her, so there will be some things of your personality in common with her. The second thing is that that doesn't mean anything, if you work on yourself. That's because we choose to be responsible. Responsible is a word that has a beautiful meaning but is usually used in a wrong way. It literally means to be able to respond. You choose how to respond at the things that happen to you. You are able to choose to not to behave like your grandma. Can you be manipulative and exploitative? Yes. I believe that we are all able to hurt people, because we can be good as much as you want, but we are also evil in some way. Those dark parts of us will always be there, you can't erase them from you simply because no one can. But you can choose to be responsible, to be respectful and kind towards yourself and the others. We can't choose our family, mine is terrible too tbh, and some people use that as an excuse, but we can do better, we can choose to use a different approach. I'm sure that therapy is going to help you a lot with this. If I may suggest, talk to your therapist about your fears, if you haven't already. In that way your therapist can reassure you much more than I can do with a comment on KZfaq and guide you through your fears to overcome them ❤ Good luck on your healing process, you won't regret to have started it, I promise

the problem is people like her in prison make others miserable, people who maybe dont deserve it. She grooms young people, she'll be in there with 18 year olds, she is a danger to young people inside a prison too. And she'll probably get worse, if imprisoned, as many do, which is concerning. When we rely on prison being inhumane to punish people who may deserve it in our opinions, there will always be people who don't deserve it harmed too. So we do need to still care about humane prisons and reducing our dependency on prisons in general by being able to use better ways to prevent and respond to violence and crime.

A bombastic Internet personality mailing you a bra as a joke should have never even measured to them as “grooming”, internet doctrine convinced themselves they’re victims. These kids are online ALL DAY absorbing programming so they can consider themselves victims when in reality nothing really happened to them besides chatting with some weirdo chick for YEARS instead of doing anything productive.

I loathe the double standard. If Colleen was named Carl and Adam was Ashley and Carl sent nudes to children or sent a bra and panties to kids or asked for pictures of their butts this wouldn't even be a conversation. People would be lighting torches and gathering pitchforks. It doesn't matter if it was a man or a woman. No one should be sending nudes,a bra and panties or asking a minor for picutres like Colleen did.

the thing that gets me the most is something i've not seen anyone other than adam point out: "at least you're having fun" is, at its core, a projection. everyone is only seeing it for how dismissive it is, and how it reverses the victim and offender, and it does ALL of that too. but, i think she actually BELIEVES that they are having fun making her miserable, sending her hate and death threats, and making videos talking about her. she thinks that these people enjoy destroying her reputation and making a public mockery of her because SHE LOVES DOING IT TO OTHERS. colleen LOVES ruining people's reputations and lives solely for her own gain. she likes making other people sad and miserable. she thinks we're having fun because, if she were us, SHE would be having fun. and she DID have fun when she did, verbatim, the exact things she describes in that song to ADAM. every single goddamn line about how she's being treated is the way adam was treated. she created a life of complete misery for him and never felt an ounce of regret. in fact, she enjoyed it. but now that it's turned back on her, she thinks we're all just. like. her. and that we love it too. that line unintentionally summarizes and proves her sadism.

I was in musical theater from Kindergarten through college. I cannot get over how much Colleen reminds me of every single skinny, conventionally attractive straight white mean girl I met in musical theater, the ones with mediocre talent that everyone around them praised because they were a big fish in a tiny community theater pond. She acts exactly like the mean girls who bullied me for being a queer autistic theater kid. She's less than a year younger than me and I cannot begin to fathom why she would ever think her behavior was appropriate. I look at kids who are 18-20 and even they seem like children to me, let alone teenagers under 18, they look like babies. The fact that she has multiple children really worries me. Edited to add: I appreciate that Swoop always strives to center the victims in her docs. The docs have some humor to break the tension but the humor is always punching up at the abusive person and doesn't use the victims trauma as the butt of the joke.

I am a few generations removed from the You Tube creator craze, so I knew nothing of Colleen Ballinger. What really hit me aside from the horrendous things she has done, was her story about her dog. In the clip she readily and happily admits to attacking the poor dog for the sole purpose of inflicting pain and suffering, and goes on, joyously so, to reveal the poor dog was put down. This so succinctly revealed her core nature, one who enjoys and takes immense pleasure inflicting pain on others.

I don't agree with your last sentence: everyone can have intrusive thoughts, it's perfectly normal. A fat person can look at another fat person and think "whoa, they're big" because we are all trained as a society to value certain physical appearances and shame others. "Tought crimes" are not real. The key is that kind people realize a split second later that these thoughts are uncalled for and shameful. They would never dream of actually saying those things, and hopefully work on bettering themselves. Tl;dr The kindest people can have cruel thoughts too. But unlike Coleen, they wouldn't find being able to say them 'liberating', yuck.

Everyone thinks cruel things, even the most outwardly kind people. It’s what you do with those thoughts that really matters. Do you allow them to change your overall viewpoint (make you jaded)? Do you allow them to give you the liberty to lash out in cruel ways, whether in speech or action? OR Do you recognize them as a natural part of the human condition & fight to inwardly AND outwardly correct them? If you never had a mean thought in your life, it would be easy to be kind. But experiencing cruel thoughts & not allowing them to fester & behaving nicely anyway is not only kind, but self sacrificial.

Does anyone think that sound was even heard as Colleen was doing this? She had children putting their hands down her pants. Does anyone else think that this was just a huge ego stroke for this woman and she hasn't apologized yet because she didn't see what she's done as being wrong? To be honest,at this stage,if I was Adam or anyone else I wouldn't want the apology for a pretty simple reason. I do not believe for a minute that Colleen would mean a flippin' word of it. She's apologize for her brand,she'd apologize to once again ego stroke herself into thinking she's such a good person but at the end of the day she wouldn't be apologizing for because she felt genuinely sorry and remorseful for what she did to these kids who were such huge fans of hers.

"I never had any bad intentions." Even if this wasn't total BS (and it is)... INTENTIONS ARE NOT AN EXCUSE FOR CHILD GROOMING. As an adult, it is your responsibility to behave in a way that is above reproach with children. It is YOUR JOB to know what is and is not appropriate behavior. It is up to you to educate yourself and protect minors, even from yourself. If you can't meet that threshold, stay away from children.

Well to be fair, if we didn't call it that then she wouldn't be able to go down in history for having the worst apology possible on YT. I'd like to call it an apology (despite it not being one) just to add to how much her video fails. Instead of a response video made to clear her name, it ended up being the absolute worst apology video as of 2023. It fails just as much as a response video as it does as an apology in my personal opinion

To the victims: no one believes her. You can breathe a little easier now. We see her for what she is, and yall were just children. She can't out run this one. Ever. I wish I could hug you all collectively, and I'm just one of the outraged moms who will always have your back. This was not your fault. She will never feel the shame she deserves, but we will keep handing it back to her when she tries to drop it.

As someone who was parentified and a victim of emotional incest by my abusive mother, I feel SO MUCH for Adam. Adults using children as therapists and emotionally dumping on them is so damaging--you're still developing mentally and emotionally, and you're so vulnerable to manipulation. It primes you to accept lack of boundaries and abusive behavior for the rest of your life. I'm so in awe of how brave and articulate Adam is, and I know that him sharing his story has definitely helped young people recognize this kind of problematic behavior and protect themselves.

I'm pumped for part 3. I've been feeling defeated that there's less momentum. So many people just want to speculate about her motives and personality and relationships and i just can't wait to think of her only as a bad memory. I don't want the story to be "she got canceled for allegedly doing stuff with kids and then came back with a bodyscrub company" or something. I want it to be "she couldn't come back and here's why", the same way i want influencer kids to be protected under the Coogan Act. This has to have meant something.

I agree (personally, I think family channels shouldn't be legal. Free speech stops when you're exploiting your kids for clicks, but that's probably not gonna happen). This needs to actually be taken seriously. This woman and everything she's done NEEDS to have consequences. As Swoop always says, "it's not drama, it's dangerous". And given that very much illegal stuff has taken place and thats just what we have PUBLICLY, there NEEDS to be an investigation looking further at this. Colleen shouldn't be "cancelled", she should see the inside of a jail cell.

The minimization of her reducing it to a fart joke is abhorrent. It wasn't the fart that people are mad at. And she KNOWS it. People are mad that she spread someone underaged legs open on stage for people to laugh at.
@ChristopherSadlowski
@ChristopherSadlowski 11 ай бұрын
If Colleen had an ounce of integrity that whole "joke" would have been gone over BEFORE the show. If the production team briefed Becky about what was going to happen then Colleen could have said she consented to it. "Okay Becky, and Becky's parent/guardian, this is how it's going to go down. We're all going to pretend you're being picked randomly from the audience, so act surprised and shocked. You're going to do a little fake yoga and when you're in the downward dog we're going to play a fart noise. Also, that dress is too short. Here's a pair of pants." Etc and so forth. But to pull a kid from the audience, put their body in THAT position wearing such a short dress, and humiliate them!? Horrid. My entire adult white ass got pulled from the line for a comedy show I was seeing once. The production assistant asked if I would consent to getting an upgrade to the front row, in exchange for being the butt of some jokes for one of the comedians. They said he needed a very thin guy to bounce some jokes off of because the comedian was making fun of his own weight. Even though my weight was being commented on, at the end of that particular scene I wasn't left with the entire audience laughing AT ME, but rather laughing at the COMEDIAN and his substantial weight. In the end I wasn't the focus, the comedian was. AND he approached me after the show to thank me for taking the risk for his set, and for being a good sport and really working with him to make all his jokes land. THAT'S what Colleen and her production team should have done. Someone should have told her the set was really poorly blocked and needed to be changed. The punchline shouldn't have been Becky; it should have been rewritten so the focus was on Colleen at the end. A good comedian wouldn't subject a fan and audience member to humiliation, they would make sure THEY took the heat. I just can't with all of this. It's all a shitshow and it's all bad.
