Mark, your videos are excellent. I have just bought a 2002 Speedfight 2 for £170 and fixing it. The kickstart and Electric start did not work, and previous owner did not want to fix. I am making progress with sorting the starter issues thanks to your videos! Thanks a lot matey

this is the most relevant video to the problems im having with my speedfight, how it all started:my mot ran out on my moped and obviously i stopped riding it but due to work and stuff going on i didnt have time to sort out the minor problems that wouldve needed sorting before i put it in for an mot, its been left still for months now, and now ive found your videos, ive been narrowing down why the electric start doesnt work: ive replaced :- spark plug, - fuse - starter relay - battery - ht leads - starter motor then even things like drive belt, bendix gear, variator, and as you may its all added up to quite a lot of money and wouldve of probably been cheaper to put in the garage, however i like doing things my self therefore this is the consequence! i am at a point where my speedfight is going to fire up, and then the starter motor starts to sound like it turning really slowly and just will not fire up! i then cleaned the carb and put a new fuel filter on, as stated in your videos, thats another thing ruled out. i can not kick start as when putting new parts on such as drive belt etc and i lost screws to the side casing i tried putting different ones in a ruined the thread, i have now just purchased a tapping kit and im ready to do that on my next available day off work, however this means my kick start is currently unavailable therefore i need the electric start.is there anything you can suggest? i feel asif ive tried everything replaced all them parts, checked for compression etc etc, the bikes sparking, i just feel like im coming to a close end to it being back on the road and hopefully its only something minor. its a 2010 Peugeot speedfight 2 R-cup, my dad just told me to get a new one however when it was on the road, it was a very fast 50cc, and seems like a waste if i just buy a new one, please get back to me as soon as possible.Thanks

Hello mark, my speedfight doesn’t wasnt to start sometimes with electric start. Can hear it all ticking over, occasionally the engine turns over but won’t quite make it, what I’ve found seems to help is getting it rolling n quickly starting it up. What you think it could be? TIA

It was leaking fluid from somewhere so decided to give it a bit of a service new belt and gaskets. Changed most the gaskets not all but the problem is the very bottom nipple on the carb is leaking tried a new float and new float chamber yet it still leaks from the bottom nipple. Should it leak??? the screw is tight so no fluid should leak

Useful as always fella, anything that helps fault finding is always worth a watch or two, cannot put a value on time saved faffing about.

Watcha Mark, great channel. My son's 2007 dna 50. Starter stopped working, kick start useless. Did checks , relay clicks battery 13volts. Removed stand + starter. Looks original and very tight to turn. Tried powering up and nothing. Got new starter on eBay, 12.99. Fitted and it's not spinning over fast enough. Like flat battery . Getting 12v to starter it's getting quite warm with out excessive use.spins over quite fast with plug out. I'm thinking it's faulty. Any thoughts ?.. Thanks. Mike

Hi Mark, I got a new relay and new battery. Also ordered a starter motor. My right switch that has lights and starter button, the headlights dont work, so I am wondering if there may not be a problem with the starter button, relay or starter motor - but possibly just the whole switch?

Alright mate just wondering if you could possibly be of and help? I have a Yamaha aerox 2010 Rossi and just took the engine out put some new gaskets on and cleaned out carb, put it all back together and it is trying to start but won't, it is sparking. Do you have any suggestions???

Hi mate hopefully you can help me. Got a speedfight 100 that was sat for 4 years, had a few mechanical problems but sorted those then had a problem with the bike not cutting out when the ignition was turned off (would stay running when you took the key out) went out for a ride and when I got home the key worked, bike cut out as it should but when I went to start it again I have no back/brake light and no electric start. Horn and indicators work but that's it. Checked resistance on the stator, new reg rec on it, new battery, immobiliser blinks the red light as it should. The relay and coil had a higher resistance than they should and I'm replacing them in the next day or so, also have a cdi immobiliser blank en route just in case. Any insight you could give would be a big help mate

Hi Mark everytime I push the starter motor button it sounds like it's clicking from the relay, does that mean I need a new startor motor or relay?

Hi, I have a vivacity 50cc. The starter motor needed replacing as the current one has wrong number of spines. So I took it out just to take a look. I didn't put it back in and left the wires dangling and tried kickstarting but it wouldn't start. I haven't tried reconnecting the starter motor and kickstarting because I was going to wait until I could start it before buying the correct started motor. The bike hasn't been started for a few months but it's always started on the first kick in the past. I've tried easy start in the air intake with no luck. So I have a feeling it's not sparking because of the dangling cables? Any ideas ? Thanks!

Speedfight 4 50 two stroke, blowing fuse on start, 7.5 amp , is this enough..theres a noise like you get when engine already running (metallic Ching) as though starter already engaged or sticking..anyone had similar...thanks

hi mark first thing i want to say is thank you for your brilliant videos they have helped me out alot!! i have a problem with my sons speedfight 3....kick starts gone real soft so doesnt give any feedback....now the ped will not start on the switch...when i press the switch it sounds like the starter motors spinning but it sounds like it not spinning the engine if that makes sence....have you got a idea what it may be?

It only leaks when started, comes out top and bottom of carb, the float works though

thanks for that upload mate! had a problem : starter would make the *click* sound and turn halfway -makes sense??- then die on me all parts make earth so no electricals found out there was a lot of gunk -for loss of a beeter word- gathered around the cable connector and even in it which caused the problem cleanded it out taped it up good and now it works again :P

Hey, Mark, I managed to get my speedfight pulley on and everything sorted I welded it on and sits on like a charm but I was out on my bike and tried to start my bike twice with the electric start and it started fine and I decided to pull over and I tried to start the bike and it wouldn't even attempt to start. The electric start was just spinning for some reason and I took the crank casing off and made sure the electric start was sitting in fine and it was and now it's doing the same thing, any ideas?

The veriator also sounds a bit clunky but it spinning..

It only leaks when started, it comes out top them bottom of carb. It's gotta be the carbs knackered, I could do with sending you a picture just incase I'm doing something wrong because your the expert haha

hi thanks for the video i'm getting a 2011 peugeot kisbee up and running after 3years of standing covered up...ive got it starting and running first kick and rides perfect but i cant get to the bottom of the electric start not working basically i press the switch and i get one really positive sounding click from the relay but only 1 per click and then nothing happens....i have checked wiring and all is fine i cleaned the switch contact i changed the fuse incase cause im a noob at this the relay and the starter are brand new so i just dont get the problem oh and battery is brand new and fully charged...ANY IDEAS ANYONE IF YOUVE HAD THIS PROBLEM PLEASE LET ME KNOW THEN MY BIKE IS FINISHED

Replacing the starter motor. Undo the 2 bolts.... take off the transmission cover, remove bendix. Smack the end of the motor hard with a cold chisel and hammer.
