Pfeifferhorn is a majestic pyramid looking peak located in Utah's Wasatch Mountain Range. From Red Pine Lake trailhead to the peak will require you to work for unparalleled views at the summit. Peaking out at 11,326 feet and just under 4,000 feet in elevation gain, this peak is one of the Wasatch Range most iconic mountains. It is quite possibly the Wasatch Mountain Range best hike and summit experience. Salt Lake City is also visible from the top of Pfeifferhorn. The trailhead is located in Little Cottonwood Canyon but a trip to the summit can be attempted from almost anywhere you choose, although some good route finding would be necessary. Be prepared for some class 2-3 and some class 4 rock scrambling with intense views at the top of Pfeifferhorn A.K.A. (Little Matterhorn).

In 1974 on June 16 I hiked the Red Pine trail and met some friends at White Pine lake. On my way up I ran into a stranger from Boulder. We have been married for 46 years. Thank you for showing me this hike again. I have heath problems that prevent me from doing it again. Made my whole week.

We were a sliver away from moving to Ogden last spring. We hd a hard time justifying ripping our girls away from what they have here. Luckily we are blessed enough to be able to get out west a few times each year. Emily and I plan on getting out there when we’re empty nesters 😁. Utah is my favorite 👍🏼

I think Pfeifferhorn has some of the best views. I love the two ridges on either side of the bridge. I think everyone that has climbed the Pfeifferhorn has thought the summit was right above Red Pine😅

Thank you very much! I'm glad you're here and watching! 10,000 ft is a different world isn't it 👍🏻. Got a bunch of vids ready to go and multiple trips planned for summer and fall, now all we need is warmer weather. It's been a cooler than normal spring for the mountains and here where I'm at. Hiking season can't get here fast enough! Have a great season!

WOW! Having just climbed Battleship in the Supes, I can relate to what those drop offs actually look like not through a camera lens! How many trips y'all do a year? Weekenders?

Haven’t hiked in Arizona but would love to👍🏼… Emily and I try to get in the mountains 3-4 times a year and save most of our PTO for hiking trips. #goals 😁 , we usually go for at least 5 nights.

@@TheMountainMatt gotcha! Use most of our PTO for camping around the state...I try to get out a little more than that! Would like to be able to 'set aside' a week a year, however my wife doesn't share the same desire the for "crazy" hikes :-)

How would this hike be in mid May? Too much snow? I'll be in SLC May 10-17th and want to do these trails.
@TheMountainMatt
@TheMountainMatt Жыл бұрын
The Wasatch got like over 800 inches of snow this year. There will be a ton of snow up high forever this summer. It does get super hot there so it could melt quickly. May is definitely out of the question unless you go all out with crampons and ice axes which would be sick! Pfeiff is a must out there Ryan! Sorry to burst your bubble my man, cheers!
