Phantasm Mortuary: Horror Movie Location Visit

I went to visit the mortuary from Phantasm aka Dunsmuir House in Oakland California. Many other movies have used this as a filming location such as Burnt Offerings, A View To A Kill, and So I Married an Axe Murderer, but for me it will always be the Mortuary from Phantasm.

Phantasm is one of my favorites!! It gave me nightmares as a kid and still gives me nightmares! Loved this video Ben!

Wow thank you so much, Ben, this is amazing for someone like me who lives I a small to get to see this location it just wow. I Love Phantasm I loved it since I was a kid. I was 8 or 9 and I saw Phantasm 2 it was a Friday night and they played pet sematary, Phantasm 2 and Slumber party massacre 2 all in the same night on HBO and thankfully for me I recorded them all and still have the tape to this day great memories. It blew me away I was confused but I also knew I loved it and there was no other movie like it and that I had to track down the first Phantasm. I love the whole franchise Phantasm ravager is criminally underrated. Thank you so much ben this was so awesome :)

Lol, "confusing but love it" pretty much sums up Phantasm perfectly! I actually still haven't seen Ravager yet, but I'm going to run through the entire franchise again soon, and I'll definitely be giving that one first time watch to cap it all off. I'm glad you liked the video, and at some point in the future I'll be doing another location visit that I think you'll get a kick out of since I know that you're a fan of The Lost Boys.

One of my favorite movies, so cool that your able to drive up to the house. I'm about 30 minutes away from Amityville, I should do a video there but last time I was there the homeowners yelled at me lol

I absolutely love Phantasm franchise. I 100% agree with everything that you said about it. The 71 Cuda is my favorite car of all time. My favorite Phantasm movie is part 2. I absolutely love this video Ben. Thank you so much for doing this location visit. I will actually probably come back to this video from time to time just to see the Mortuary. You filmed this on a beautiful day. So awesome.

This is amazing! Thanks so much for filming this. Phantasm is my second favorite horror film of all-time so this was awesome to see. I hear the score and I am instantly brought back to my childhood. This movie is so nostalgic for me! Awesome vide, Ben!

Nice video.My favorite scene was when they put the finger in the drain and that crazy evil bug flew out.lol That was funny.😃😃😃I love phantasm.What a great 70s movie.I watched it with my grandmother when she was alive.Even she said it was a good movie.😃😃😃

Dude thank you so much for doing this!! The place is beautiful, so nostalgic!! I would love to be there with you!! Phantasm means alot to me, definitely one of my favorite movies of all time!! One of the highlights of my life was seeing it on the big screen last Halloween!! Awesome video Ben!!

Thanks Jason! I know that I had mentioned to you that I wanted to make this video a while ago, and I'm glad that I finally got the chance to do it. It is a really cool place to visit, and if you're ever up in Northern California you have a standing invitation to come hangout in the Bay Area and visit it with me. It's a great movie that instantly fills me with nostalgia every time I watch it, never had the chance to see it on the big screen like you though.

Phantasm is one of my all time favorites and my favorite one has to either be part one or part four. I’m working on putting some thoughts together for a video on this one but it’s going to take me a while. So many good things to say about it and so many good memories from DECADES of watching them. Absolutely! If you're up in Northern California I would also recommend visiting the Point Reyes Lighthouse where they filmed The Fog👍

Awesome visit snd video Ben man! Phantasm is total nostalgia for me and have loved it ever since seeing it on like Cinemax or HBO or showtime or some shit like that in the early 80’s!! And also total badass MOTHRA ending!!! Fuckin killer!!!!

Before Phantasm, the house was used in another cult classic, Burnt Offerings (1976) with Oliver Reed, Bette Davis, Karen Black and Lee Montgomery... great film.

Oh wow, the house/mortuary is still up! Very cool indeed. Is the house lived in or is it a business premises nowadays? I love Phantasm as movie, first is best but I enjoyed all the entries so far. Phantasm also spawned one of the most unlikely on screen heroes with Reggie the ice cream man lol! 😄

It's basically just a historic location at this point, you can rent it out for events. How cool would it be to rent it out for a screening of Phantasm! I agree the first is my favorite too, and Reggie is definitely the coolest ice cream man in the history of ice cream, thats for sure!

I wish I lived in the states so much lol .. I live near some MAD MAX ( Road Warrior Locales) also quite close to wolf creek Locations .. but nothing is iconic to me as places like this .

The Phantasm mortuary is a pretty iconic location, but Andrew is right, Wolf Creek had some pretty epic locations, and it doesn't get much more iconic than Mad Max!
