Best review I've seen so far. Biggest problem with Phantom Fury is Voidpoint didn't develope it.

@@templarkid. - Don't like the " let's ignore real ballistics " exploding enemies in Phantom Fury either. Would rather see lots of enemy corpses strewn about.

Great review. Others have been incredibly harsh, but you've summed it up well. It's not something that you can recommend someone buys blind - it's got cool stuff and is worth playing if you like that era of games, but it has got big issues and you'll only enjoy it if you are willing to push through those big issues. Ironically enough the game really is like late 90s/early 2000s shooters like Sin, Blood 2, Unreal 2... because those games and lots of flaws and were rushed. Pretty much every shooter from that era except Half-Life 1 had just as many flaws. But developers should now know better than to make those same mistakes, and publishers should know better than to push something out the door when it still needs extra couple of months of work.

I think that has been 3D Realms' biggest fault as of late. Wrath: Aeon of Ruin has a really good core, but it makes a lot of the same mistakes as old-school shooters. But thank you for watching. I'm glad you got my point. Phantom Fury will, hopefully, get better in the future.

I have a penchant for FPS games, but I do plan on doing other genres. I'm not sure how KZfaq will react to that, but this channel is all about being true to what I want to see from games.

I think what they need to do is temporarily pull the game from digital stores and refine it to make it better. Very few games have done that in the past. I know the remake of XIII did that.

I hope some of my review will provide insight for you. Don't stick to it religiously, though. If you have a clear idea that you want to implement, go for it. It's better to shoot for the stars and miss than settle for safety.

After playing the mess of a demo last year, I was willing for it to be given more time in the oven. It definitely needs more time in its current state. I'll stick with Ion Fury + Aftershock for now.

Aftershock is really great. I enjoy it more than the base game, haha.
