just had my interview for CVS and it was basically “ What is your availability and when can you start?” 😹 He gave me info on how the job works and that they will cross-train me as a cashier and rotate me from pharmacy tech training to the front register. He also asked briefly about my current working situation and customer service in general. it was very low-key and he was scrambling for questions to ask me because the woman who was supposed to interview me was not there. ✨

@@RosaPerez i ended up declining the offer and accepting a job that paid more. Other reasons for declining was my apprehension about calling insurance companies and dealing with angry customers when it comes to meds. I also wasn’t sure how much math was involved because i usually need a pen and paper 😔. Maybe i’m underestimating myself 🤷🏾♀️

@@smilendlessly5128 Especially if they’re sick and the elderly…man that’ll suck to give them bad news…I’m only working part-time…I have still yet to get an interview…dealing with insurance is…it is what it is…you can’t do much about it…sucky part is I just wanna have a part-time job where I can just come in work and leave to have a little bit of pay to file taxes for Obamacare…not have to learn too much pharmacy concepts like I’m back in school…but…I think working at a drug store pays more than regular mom& pop local retail shops? What job did you end up accepting?

I have an interview actually today at 11:30 AM with Rite Aid and I’m actually pretty excited about it and more so anxious than nervous. I never considered a career in Pharmacy but I did attend school years ago to be a Medical Assistant and I enjoyed working my externship so When I came across the position on Indeed, it just felt right to apply for it, so I did. This video is a gem and you definitely gave great tips for interview questions. Sometimes I feel kind of rusty with interviews lol I’ve been doing interviews since I was 14, I’m 32 now 😭 so things have changed! But I see this more as a career than a job so I have faith I’ll pass and make this into a career. Thank you for sharing!!!! 🤗

My interview I didn’t prepare for at all but I suppose 3 years of retail gave me plenty to answer the questions. They weren’t hard questions at all, I’ve always been able to come up with my answers almost instantly

Hey girl, thanks to your video I got hired! Thank you so much! The manager did a bit of a booboo by interviewing me before my assessment. So the assessment is my only hope to get the job. Do you have any advice on what kind of questions are asked in the assessment?

Yes I pretty much got the job but when I came time for the assessment I didn't do well on the assessment can you give me any pointers on what I'm doing wrong on the assessment when it comes to transferring the prescription on to a different paper

That is awesome! make sure to pay attention to the details and be fast. you dont want to make too many mistakes. in the pharmacy you have to move quick and pay attention to detail.

@@RosaPerez Yes I did. I didn't get hired but that's okay because it seems like the manager just wanted Xtra employees. He said there was an employee working there for 1 years waiting to be trained. That was a bad sign for me.

@@Mini-rt8bm He asked me the first thing about my work history, what working days you will be available, the most important thing is that you say that you will plan your life around this job and say that you will work during holidays and happy to work Saturdays and that you want to continue your education and also there is a question why should we hire you? I have interview tomorrow. They will be certifying me there Since I’ve never worked Pharamacy. Can you use your certification anywhere or is it just for Walgreens?

How did your interview go? What state are you in? I know in Illinois once you get your license you can work at any pharmacy until you are required to take the PTCB exam.

Rosa Perez it went good. I live in SC. I actually got the job but i didn’t take it. They wanted to start me out at 11.50hr and my last job was paying me $14.50hr. I don’t wanna sound ungrateful but $11.50hr seems pretty low for all workload of a tech. Not to mention working holidays etc. they should really pay essential workers way more!

@@brittanykeown211 I totally understand what you mean. I wouldn’t have taken it either for that same reason. If you’re already making more now than yeah I would be a step back getting paid less and having to deal with so much more in the pharmacy. I totally agree I think essential workers should be getting paid a lot more and it is sad that we don’t.

Hiii! I’m currently a junior in HS. I don’t know what I want to be yet but I heard that you can become a pharmacy tech at 18? Is it possible, if so how do I become one?

Hi Madison! Yes you can become one at 18. I suggest to have an interest in science courses maybe volunteer at a hospital before you apply that way you can see if you’re interested in healthcare and that’s something that the pharmacy manager would really like as well.

@@RosaPerez I am not a fan of science, I get like C/B in science and my GPA is higher than 3.10? I would love to have a job in the medical/health field one day. But I don’t know if I can do it though:( because my grades are not well and my gpa is low. How would you apply at a hospital and thank you so much for replying!

You can definitely wear a button down shirts and some dress pants or khakis and a polo shirt. It really just depends on your preference.

Question: Why is it that my Walgreens Pharmacy always forgets that some months have 31 days? At least five times now over the past year I have had to call the Walgreens Pharmacy to ask if my prescription is ready, with them responding that they can't till it until tomorrow. And it's only when I inform them, how can that be, I've just run out, that they go back and count realizing that because the previous month had 31 days that it is in fact due now...

The automated system at Walgreens isn’t too great. I was going to suggest Putting your medications on automatic refill if you can that way you don’t run into that problem. If it’s something you can’t get an automatic refill of just know that unless you call we I have a bad system where a lot of things won’t get filled automatically.

Do you think they would ask a lot of STAR interview questions? I'm terrible at coming up with stories from previous jobs and having to remember them. Tips for answering tell me about a time you had a miscommunication? Because I'm the type of person who makes sure to ask lots of questions if I don't understand something.

It’s possible they will ask a few but there was honestly not too many questions regarding those or in general during my interview. The pharmacist who is interviewing you is typically the pharmacy manager for your store. They really just want to see how you interact with them and if you are personable. It’s important for them to see if you would fit in with their team because the team work with in the pharmacy really does become your family. They also wanna know if you have any prior experience as well. That may be useful while you are working at the pharmacy. It’s important to make sure that you have stories from previous jobs ready in your head because they will be asking those types of questions during your interview. Take the time to write them out and read them out loud to yourself but don’t rehearse them too much that way when they do ask you a question regarding that you have an answer. the best thing I can also say is, it would be good to look up interview style questions for the pharmacy. You can always write down your answers and how you would answer them. I wish you the best of luck and good luck on your future interviews.

@@RosaPerez update: I got the job! They asked every question you mentioned along with “what would you do if insurance would not cover the brand of a prescription but it would cover the generic brand?” Overall it was very laid back! :)

I have a interview this upcoming Thursday .I had 2 so far and the questions were hard to me and i didnt get one and the 2nd one i think i bombed 😠 I suck at interview i be too nervous i think. Hopefully this help

How long is the hiring process.. weeks?

After the interview you should start within 1-2 weeks. If you are just starting to apply it can depend. It can be a couple days, weeks, or months. It just depends if they want to bring you in for an interview.

Don’t be nervous , I’m the most nervous person and trust me u ain’t gotta be lol , f them lol. I got a interview for Walgreens today tho . I ain’t really scared , one thing I learned is to just be yourself and act like u don’t care 🤷🏾♀️ to a certain extent . It really works . Act how you do when you’re around someone comfortable , be transparent! It works !
