Correction on the sex scene on Episode 21, in Eris's Mind she definitely want to be with Rudy and is Gung ho with having a Family, but during the Sex she realizes how small Rudeus Hands are and is ironically in her Mind an forcing an Adult(Eris who just turned 15) to have Sex with a Child(Rudeus who is at the time 13) she felt Disgusted with herself(as she should) and then decides to leave to become the person who can protect Rudeus and is worthy to have his Child.
@DarkSonicSpear
@DarkSonicSpear 2 жыл бұрын
To expand on this. LN cut context. Eris had become so insecure after the orsted incident and finding out about her family that she had intended to use sex as a surefire way to keep Rudeus with her. It was actually her mom who has pushed her to Rudeus on his 10th birthday (which we don't find out until this Eris's interlude. Before it was very much implied that it was her dad's scheme), telling Eris that if she sleeps with him he will definitely not leave her. But like you said, during the act she realized how small he really was and how wrong it was to be so utterly dependent on someone who is still a child. She felt terrible that she would become his chains, prompting the separation.

Rifujin-san put his own experiences of redemption and used his mother's undying love as underpinning the redemption message in Mushoku Tensei - terribly flawed characters either seeing the light, having a change of heart, or learning a lesson either through others' actions, or more along his own experience, their own actions.

I love mushoku tensei so much, it's the first anime/manga that got me to read the light novel, and I'm happy that finally after 3 months of reading the light novel I will be starting the volume 10 soon, which is further than the manga has got, I'm curious about how it will make me feel, cause I've loved the novel so far, and I already kind of knew what was gonna happen cause I read the manga, however, once I start volume 10 i'll have no idea, which makes me excited to read it and experience the story even more :D overall I'd encourage anyone who's curious about the light novel to give it a go, I don't have much experience with books outside of manga if that counts to anything, but I think the light novel is beautifully written. Great video, gave me goosebumps watching the scene where Rudeus remembers him mother after being dumped.

As they say love ❤️ is something not given nor is it bought it’s something that takes a long process to forge to make it into something else and something truly blessed and special. Eris an Rudy spent so much time together and saw and did so much, the scene was so blissful and true but as they separate and walk on the individual paths there is a saying : “ Put two ships in the open sea, without wind or tide, and, at last, they will come together. “ - Jules verne That is what I find meaning to eris and Rudy’s love. Eris wants to be worthy to stand as a equal person to Rudy to his greatness and protect what she has to keep him safe. So while it’s a temporary goodbye they will meet again and the feelings that once was declared in 22 will be spoken once more It’s all a question of time; that is all.

Loved the video! I also wish more people would talk about Ruijerd or specifically the conversations and conflicts between him and Rudeus. How even though he could easily dismiss his opinions and wishes as that of a child (especially considering his strong feelings on wanting to protect children) but he doesn't and they have very mature conversations and even arguments with each other and their different opinions, world views and ethics. Was really enjoyable to see how their friendship changed both of them in the end.

I agree with every point made in this video. Excellent show, excellent video, excellent discussion about a topic that I think many people with overlook and potentially judge this series too harshly too quickly. That said, the fact that Rudeus and Eris are cousins just never seems to leave my mind, and continues to creep me out during any romantic or sexual scene between them. I understand that may not weird people out as much depending on the culture they were raised in, but I've always been taught relationships like that just don't happen between family members, and it does not cease to weird me out just a little bit each time, despite how amazing the writing and development between the characters are. I just wish they had been written as unrelated characters! I think this series is incredible, and the characters and their development is just as incredible, but man, the fact that they're cousins was just always in the back of my mind.

The Greyrat bloodline is a prominent old noble family of the Asura Kingdom divided into 4 Noble Houses, Notos, Boreas, Euros, Zephyrus, and many branch families. Their bloodline can be traced back to the Asura Kingdom's royal family. Notos, which Paul came from and Rudy too; Boreas which Philip and Eris came from; the remaining 2 branches are Euros and Zephyrus. They have common ancestry, but they are so far removed that it barely counts as incest.

A hero? Are you a protector of the innocent, or are you their true lord? Greater than Jesus? Would you have us all in your righteous fury? Are you an avatar? Are you any different from Rudeus? this anime had the audacity to have great animation, great worldbuilding, great characters but the the main character is one of the worst in anime straight up. cmon yall, at 15:42 there is no way to spin "main character tries to have sex with an 8 year old" into a good thing or for plot but i got told "he improves, read the manga" and no. By the end of the story he ends up in a poly relationship with roxy, sylph and eris because ofcourse he does. If you take the "he's an adult using a child's body to get away with grooming" angle, he's a pedo for ending up with sylph and eris and if you go with the "he's a child so it's fine" makes roxy a straight up groomer with no alternative takes and hell in the manga, there is so much more lewd loli shit and "well it's for the plot" doesnt work here because regardless the mangaka still spent time drawing a 5 year old with their ass exposed

This is off-topic,but I have an interesting idea for a story i'm currently writting that feature love triangle, here the premise: A falls in love with B but then a event in the story happens where A is presumed dead by B and A is put into a coma for 1 month. 1 month after A is presumed dead and in a coma, B now has a relationship with C but due to B still holding feelings for A, the relationship with B and C continues to be stressed as both are trying to have a romance but B is too attached to the memory of A and C is becoming detached from B because of it which results in C finally deciding to break up with B, who is now rendered alone and heartbroken a second time. A few days later, C comes across a awakened but amnesiac A and not knowing what A visually looked like to B, C assumes this person is just as amnesiac stranger and for the next month the A and C work together and develop a romance despite C still being attached to the memory of B and A wanting to regain their memory. Eventually, something triggers A 's memory and they begin to remember who they are and their relationship with B but now A is conflicted because of their relationship with C and don't know what to do. Around the same time, C is beginning to yearn for returning to their home and rekindle a romance with C but doesn't want to break off their relationship with A and is also conflicted. A finally decides to confess to C who they really are and that they intend to return home and rekindle their past love which shocks C who is now dealing with the revelation that that their new partner is the old fling of B while A is shocked to find out B is the old fling of A. B also confesses to A they have been yearning to return home to B as well but theorizes that B will only accept one of them back and tells A to go it alone as B never loved C because B never let go of her relationship to A. A saddened by this, bids C farewell and returns home to B who is overjoyed to see A alive and the two attempt to continue their relationship again for the next month. But A and B both struggle to settle back into a romance because both A and B miss C but do not tell each other this because they are also trying to commit to each other. But eventually B confesses to A that B misses C and wants to reconnect and A reveals to B they also have been thinking the same. B proposes that both A and B seek out C and pursue a polyamorous relationship between the three if C takes them both back. A agrees with this and A and B seek out C and confess their love to C to which C reciprocates their love back to the two and all 3 agree to have a romance with each other. Does this sound like a compelling love triangle?

Some of it was actually necessary in order to give such an impact on the character development, but you can also argue that every anime has way too many details that add nothing to their respective plots depending on how deep you wanna go. I do agree that the *focus* on ecchi and perverted scenes were a bit overdone mostly for fanservice, eliminating it altogether would have cheapened the story.

The two scenes I rmb the most was the scene when he met Paul again in the bar, and the scene when Zenith slapped him when he was gonna cut all ties with his grandmother. The love and emotion in those scenes were so powerful that I tear up no matter how many times I read it, the flaw of Paul and the burden he had to carry, the love of Zenith and the sadness of seeing her family breaking. And Rudeus, who picked up the responsibilities his father left behind, who loved his family like how his mother loved him, to move foward as a person. The maturity in this story is unreal, and it resonates with so many people who were put in similar situations, either it be with their families, with their work, with their lives, and shown them how to pick themselves up again.

Done watching The guy's got a good speaking voice and generally, his points about how Rudeus' character develops could have been well-reasoned had this been any character but Rudeus However, it once again sidesteps the major league issue that many people have with the series, which I felt the video downplayed. Rudeus is still an adult in a child's body who is actively being creepy towards people very much not his age. The video doesn't really tackle the aspects of pedophilia rampant in the early parts of the story and plays it off as "fanservice that every anime does" Which would be understandable, but then they follow it with "this fanservice has a point", and unfortunately, the emotional weight of all these sex scenes is tainted by the knowledge that Rudeus is a pedophile and based on this video, never really confronts that part of himself. It just lends an air of grossness to the whole thing when Rudeus sexually and romantically pursues a much younger girl starting at their childhood. Like yes, Rudeus is well-written, but only insofar that you're willing to accept that he nor the story attempts to have him answer for the very yikes actions of being a pedophile, especially up to that point. It's a perfectly valid and sane dealbreaker for people to consider it immature of a pedophile to give in to his actions, and also highly immoral. The video's a bit disingenuous about the source of the controversy by not really talking about that point at all. It's Mushoku Tensei's biggest problem that despite all of its great animation and solid character dynamics, it is all done in service of a genuinely morally reprehensible character, which the story more often than not rewards. Which frankly makes Rudeus' character morally bankrupt, and I'd have found that interesting if the story wasn't so intent on framing him as a "well-meaning guy". Not even a good guy, just well meaning , and that is just gross when talking about a groomer.

The point is that these flaws aren't ignored, not at all. They matter, in particular to Rudeus himself. I can't remember how explicit the anime was on the topic, but in the LN the disgust Rudeus feels towards himself when he touches Eris at the birthday is bit and important. This isn't to say that there aren't moments I felt gross about It, and everyone is entitled to put their own limits on what they want from their entertainment, but this cannot become a reason to give critical analysis. You may not like it, but that's personal. My not liking a certain sport (allow me the stupid comparison) shouldn't become a meter to evaluate a story speaking about players of that sport. The fact that Rudeus is a scumbag is the entire point of the story. It's about facing his deepest points and trying to change. He was a man at the bottom of everything IRL, to the point that he was HATED by his brothers. People change, but it's not easy and rarely it is cutsy. We do stuff and we regret, we fail to be rational or we fail to understand others, and we grow from it. This is the point of this story. It's ugly and gross. But that's part of human life. The whole age topic also plays into a certain degree of "symbolism" within Rudeus journey itself. It's only at the end of the journey with Eris that he is starting to think more of himself as "Rudeus" and less as "That fat japanese man". He is reaching the Age when he stopped living and became a socially troubled and clearly mentally ill person. That's when his actual "new Life" starts. Again, you are 100% entitled to not like this, but specific details of personal feelings on topics cannot be the reason to evaluate critically something.
@NecoLumi
@NecoLumi 2 жыл бұрын
@@Hyperversum3 It is a perfectly valid critique of media when it frames a person as morally correct when what they are doing is something they themselves know is morally bankrupt. You cannot go "but that's just personal feelings" on a critique based on moral character. Rudeus being a terrible person and regretting it does not justify it, especially when media exists to propagate ideas, whether intentional or not.
@Hyperversum3
@Hyperversum3 2 жыл бұрын
@@NecoLumi But that's the point, where the hell is it framed as "good" for crying out loud. The entire point of many of those scenes is that he feels guilt about It. That's how humans capable of self-critique operate, and many of those are also stupid idiots that can't get their shit together and end up falling for similar errors in the future. Over and over the series Rudeus calls himself out, he is aware of how some of his actions were just BAD, and how he fell for them on his own accord, circumstances were just the "bait" that he willingly took. At a certain point (and when he is already quite ahaed in his evolution into a better person, really this time) he thinks on why Elinalise (Elf lady) hates so much his father and asks her, also saying that his father was extremely sorry about whatever that was and would likely grovel in front of her when they meet. She just answers that he doesn't really want to know the answer and that Paul is a fucking idiot. At this event he reflects that while he is displeased at knowing that his father was garbage in the past, he is still on the road ro help him and "Good for nothing had to look out for each other". This is years after any of his last major fuck ups have happened, after he learned that Eris likely didn't leave him because she was displeased at him, after he married and has learnt to have a child coming and overall having become part of a social group of people that overall are all good people accepting of each major flaws, he still can't think of himself as a valuable person, but he is indeed improving by a lot. The point is, humans are complex. Change takes time, It doesn't happen magically. And nowhere along this he is presented as a good example. NEVER. He is another schmuck in the entire world, who has done good deeds and some bad ones. He needed help to improve and still has a way to go. The entire story is about that. If Art can't represent such stories because people might get bad ideas... Well, this entire discussion was pointless. Some of the best pieces of literature in the world are exactly about such topics, about horrible or questionable people. And this is also true for pop culture. Otherwise, we wouldn't have something like Monster or Chainsawman. And that would be a sad world.
@Hyperversum3
@Hyperversum3 2 жыл бұрын
@@NecoLumi The real point is that morality isn't the point here, as the story is exactly about a questionable person who has a very specific background of trauma and that was never exposed to someone or something that could teach such person to handle their anxiety and emotions, who ultimately grew up into an asocial lacking human relationship skills. He is a mighty and Rich asshole using his power to prey on people, he is a victim that never learned some stuff and developed ill behaviours as a result. One of many such "trash" that society (japanese one for sure, and we in the West similarly) like to leave behind because they aren't so interesting or visible. He isn't a "victim" to be pitied, he is just a guy with a past of trauma that now happens to be in a position where he might be the one abusing someone else. How we want to read the rest, if we believe in forgiveness and whatever is the point of the story of him as a person being Reborn. You may hate his guts and dislike his actions to the point of no forgiveness, but that's besides the quality and the actual point of the series as a whole. Personal conditions and critique work differently

I Love MT for its beautiful visuals and Worldbuilding. But it was missing the x factor for me,something that hit hard/high note,the closes thing was Turning point 2. The characters are mixed bag for me but my main issue is the ecchi stuffi dont mind eris scene,but the constant focus on it like with Roxy figurine episode,panties ,That Bikni girl warrior with paul...etc. I mean just why ? why focus on that when you have such a great world and premise ? Hopefully we have left that behind us in Season 2 i don't mind it here and there but not constantly

I know this is very late to the party, but your choice of music during the Paul section is just low key great choice. FFIX's 'You're not Alone' is so spot on as it got to a point with everyone scattered he was desperate and was unsure if he could. Even after the fight both him and Rudy had he was still able to find comfort and be able to move past the struggles he was having after the explosion and finally have a moment of respite and relief to finally be able to continue the search. He, was now, no longer alone in the search of finding the rest of his family. And when I mean 'no longer alone' he now has a dependable, and reliable person of blood to help in the search.

One of the best MS videos I've seen! and just a side note, what you said on 16:00 is mostly true, but the reason Eris slept with Rudeus wasn't because she knew she was leaving, but rather that after losing her family she was distraught, and wanted to build a new one with the person she loves most. It wasn't until after the deed was done that she realized how fragile Rudy actually was, and that her current strength wasn't nearly enough to protect him. That's when she decided that rather then settle down, she would first become strong enough to protect that which she cares for.

The coolest part about Mushoku Tensei is there are no wasted parts. Everything comes back around. Even if you don't understand at first. Which is probably the reason why most people don't pick it up. But if you make the journey, the world and Rudy's family is well worth the investment. Its the GoT of isekai. Meaning it is both brutal and grounded.
