I loved this film as a kid! They would show it before every Omniverse IMAX film.

Such fond memories of seeing this umpteen times at the Franklin Institute's Omnimax theatre. I consider this to be a perfect film showcasing Philadelphia and suburbs. They made a sequel about a decade later with updated Philly skyline, which was a pale imitation of this gem.

This was always my favorite part of the visiting the Franklin Institute regardless of the IMAX film being shown. I like this older/original one versus the one they replaced it with years ago.

Man, this really takes me back to my childhood visits to the Franklin Institute! So nostalgic. Someone should put this on VR so you can get that same old feeling like you're actually flying over the city.

This is the BEST idea EVER!!!! I'd even pay for it just to relive that childhood feeling of amazement and wonder & that first moment when you lift off into the sky & you lost your breath! lol

This was jaw dropping epic back in the day! .. especially the opening scene with liberty place 2 under construction. This film goes back to the time before gentrification when philly was philly and not Disneyland. Seeing this in omniverse was so mind blowing. IMAX today does not come close... fantastic classic philly film.

I remember being barely 6 years old and seeing this in the Tuttleman IMAX in the early 90s. Finding this on KZfaq after not even remembering the title but only vivid scenes and deep searches is so awesome 👍

I want to say like 88' or 89' but could have been a year or two later. I went to a great, nerdy, science summer camp at the National Academy of Sciences and saw a lot of Franklin Institute imax films.

My first visit to Philadelphia *(I'm from Maine) was to the Four Season's Hotel. I loved it so much I moved onto Rittenhouse Square. I was 19 and had never seen so many good times. :)

Used to take field trips from greenfield here and this always makes me so proud to be from philly. It brings back so many memories too. Where is the beach scene taken from at 2:55

Hi, Hummingbird! I LOVE this film and can't imagine why it is no longer shown at the Franklin Institute. The song at the end--"Who say, who say, who say, ain't no room"--is so great. Can you tell me anything more about it? Who is singing it? Who wrote it? And who is performing "Holy Spirit"? And which church do we see her in? Thank you!

@@suefrank8184 I really liked the song, myself, (or at least the part they use in the video) so I spent a little time googling the lyrics. It wasn't super-easy to find but almost everything is out there on some corner of the internet!

Actually I believe there was an updated version the showed at the Franklin Institute although they no longer show one at all before their IMAX film (I was just there on Saturday)

They could recapture this at a higher resolution. This looks like it was recorded to a high quality vhs from an IMAX. If they did it again it could be HD

Yup, from 1988. They played this before every IMAX science documentary. It was originally named the Tuttleman Omniverse Theater, which was one of the first (and largest) domed theaters utilizing the then all new IMAX camera systems. After a couple of years, they rebranded it as the Tuttleman IMAX theater. I'm just learning that they permanently closed it down... :(
