Flyers Daily with Jason Myrtetus: Bill Meltzer joins for his weekly visit and we take inventory of the Flyers. We assess areas of strength and areas of need, plus areas of redundancy in team building for both next season and the long term outlook. We focus on Goaltending and the Defense positions on the episode and also evaluate the overall state of the rebuild. Also our first Local Business Spotlight with the Flyers Hometown Assist presented by Wells Fargo.

I thought we ALSO got a 2nd round draft pick in 2025 ALONG with Drysdale, but podcasts such as this will always want to compare the deal as "Gauthier versus Drysdale" trade - one for one. It makes for a more interesting discussion. As they say " Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story."

You can try and explain it away and twist yourself into a pretzel but losing CG has definitely set the organization back.

But getting Drysdale has (and will) move the talent level on our defense the right way. He's only 21.

@@user-fs9hg8dz6z Can't stay healthy and is a mess in his own zone. That said, I'm certainly hopeful he can get it together.

A guy who has never played an NHL game and is already making demands about 'where he wants to play' (likely related to over-involved family) doesn't hurt us... That is not the personality you want to build a young team around even if he is a good hockey player. Our farm system has a lot of talent, we have a lot of assets, by the time Michkov arrives we will be more than fine.

lil’ penguins can’t even fly! 🚫🐧. Go phantoms! Diva quitter might be hated more than Crosby when he comes to town. I’m so glad they didn’t get saddled with his locker room cancer.

Agreed. If you could trade Risto and a #1 for Marner, that helps us IMMEDIATELY!

I'd take Nylander over Marner 10/10 times. Marner is the epitome of a sometimes-talented, over-paid, hockey baby. Not right for the locker room. Torts would be scratching him every 3 games and he would get shipped out within 2 years.

Wow, I thought the Mitch Marner comment down there was a weird joke... Imagine paying that dude 11mil to literally disappear when it matters. Now, if you could get Nylander... on the other hand.. Another player I secretly covet that is mostly wasted on their current team - Matt Barzal. Imagine Frost or Brink dishing the rock to shiny new 1C Matt Barzal. (this fantasy would have been helped by the Islanders missing the playoffs, but oh well)
