Having Torts as the coach is awesome but also really cathartic for me. I grew up in Philly and played ice hockey as a kid then went to school at UTampa and lived there til 2014. While in school, Torts daughter attended UT and dated one of my best friends for 7 years. We went to so many Bolts games from 2005-2011. Met the players and their families, ate their food spread with them, and spent several occasions at Torts beach house in St. Pete. He's an extraordinarily passionate guy who only wants the best for his players and his team. I can attest is no difference in personality on vs off the ice. The absolute best memory I have though is there was a weekend in 2008 where my friend and Tort's daughter couldn't attend a game so they gave the tix to my brother and I. 100 level dead center, sweet. As die hard Flyers fans, we had our Lindros and Desjardins jerseys on and made our way to our seats. What she DIDN"T tell us was A) we were on the homefield side of the Forum and B) her grandparents we're sitting right next to us. So we did what any Flyers fan would do; got hellaciously drunk and made ourselves as obnoxious as possible. Flyers won in overtime 4-3 and the joy we got from the scowls on everyone's face around us was priceless. Her grandparents were so disgusted with us they left after the end of the first period and the next day I received a severe tongue lashing. Would still do the same thing again in a heartbeat. LOL. So excited for this season! GO FLYERS AND THANK YOU JOHN TORTORELLA!

I'm genuinely excited to watch this season. All the booing, I get it, being disappointed by a team you care about is healthy. But at a certain point, you're doing yourself the damage by clinging on to that feeling. Also, shoutout to the lady who thanked Laughton for the visit. I hope she's healing and that was just a cool and lovely exchange.

Scott Laughton seems like a genuine guy. Very down to earth and you just get the vibe he is a good human being. I'm a habs fan and the flyers have burned us more than once in the post season but I think you guys have a strong core and should be a really good team sooner rather than later.

Its tough because even as much as they work their asses off it won't matter if theres not enough ability in the roster..

A friend of mines son was in the hospital with cancer maybe 2 years ago. He was going through so much, but was super happy when Laughton came to visit him in the hospital. Knowing the flyers fan I am, the kid even apologized to me for not calling me to talk to him while Scotty was there 😂 Luckily, he's in full remission these days.

This teams horrendous on the ice, but they have heart, determination, grit and the willpower to be better, sticking together.

I lived in voorhees most of my life I love having the guys come to the rink here in Jersey it’s sad that giroux is not gonna come around anymore but I know he’s going to have a good season in Ottawa

I'm finding it really hard to get excited about this year.

In the spirit of staying positive, I won't talk again about management because there is absolutely no hope there unless some changes are made. Instead, I'll state here two things I'd like to see in this upcoming season: 1-To have one of the new guys (I include Frost in this category) bring excitement like Ghost did during the 2015-16 season. Forward, defense, goalie... any one (or two?) of these guys would do the trick. 2-To have one (or two?) of the core players experience a great bounce back season. Provy comes to mind, Laughton also but my greatest hope is to see Coots back in the line up when he's ready (not before!) and just kill it out there on the ice. I'm not expecting playoffs. But is it too much to ask to have some players generate a bit of hope?

That actually have a chance to be an exciting young team that gets good over the next couple of years, so.

I hope Gritty is ok after that beatdown from The Miz.

Yes, the Flyers could “tank” but there doesn’t guarantee them a first pick. The draft lottery seems fixed.

If they don’t get Connor Bedard it’s a failed season. Here’s the problem, Tortorela is worth 10 points and may make them better then they are. If they finish 10th and just a few points out of the playoffs that would be useless. They need to rebuild through the draft. Finish last and give yourself a chance.
