"Growing up with all eyes on you." We took that feeling serious and put eyeballs on our documentary film poster for Witness Underground - Escaping a Cult.

Absolutely loved this conversation. My first time listening to the podcast but long time tiktok follower of Eve - really loved the back and forth, listening to both perspectives and stories, thanks friend!

Also on the note of the study of people from denominations where speaking in tongues, prophetic words etc are prominent vs denominations where it’s not and if they deconstruct differently. I would have so much to say in regards to this, coming from coptic orthodoxy where these things never happen and are not a common at allll in services and how it has almost made my deconstruction a tiny bit easier than hearing stories such as those shared on this podcast

In addition to that i have been to a charismatic church two times with a friend from school and i loved it so much more than the services i grew up in because it was so performative and emotional. The second time i went the guest pastor pointed me out in the audience and gave me a prophetic word and it really drew me in and i believed then that it was god speaking since it had linked deeply with what i was going through. I never went back though because my parents were upset that it was not in the church i grew up in (grateful for that). So growing up with no “performative” or “acts of god” being done in front of me impacted my deconstruction , and having that one time experience now in retrospect is interesting

1:04 I can relate to this Phil. I saw and experienced some amazing things. To be fair there was an awful lot of showmanship; I mean people fell on the floor after being prayed for and we assumed they were being healed. Speak to that person a few days later however and they are basically the same. However, I had a few experiences that were definitely spiritual, especially guidance. But they didn't necessarily fit into the Christian theological structure. Too much to go into here. My feeling is that where there is an openess and it is appropriate there is a force that helps us. X

I thought that as well I think that's why we got the pardon through her why He has not given any other creation that's was perfect and made a mistake to our knowledge that's pardon. Not even the watchers

My podcast always has been a conversation not just an interview. Most of my guests have done dozens of other interviews and I've no doubt you'll find plenty more content from my guest elsewhere but on my show it's always going to be a back and forth, it's just my style :)

So interesting "musicians at bethel." What religion are you talking about? Jehovah's Witnesses call their headquarters Bethel. It's a book publishing factory. Bethelites are the factory workers. Now it's a televangelism film studio in New York. Tell us more about your bethel.

Its a charismatic Christian movement out of Redding, CA. With Bethel meaning "house of god" so many churches ends up using it 😂

@@PhilDrysdale If only Jehovah's Witnesses were "charismatic," they would retain more than 33% of their members. Their version of Bethel looks a lot like slavery through coersion. It would be an interesting topic to find out about all of the different Bethels in the world and how they are used by a given faith group.

I have definitely been known to fart on the pod... but I think in this instance I dropped my fidget toy that I play with while chatting to folks :) You can usually tell the farts as I subtly mute the mic and tilt slightly to one side 😂

Eve is a beautiful sinner, but she needs to repent and come back to The Lord. He ❤ her. But He is not mocked. Eve needs to get right with GOD right now ...
