I left the Philippines in March 2020 after a 6 week stay! I had tears in my eyes.. did not want to leave. When I returned home I immediately booked a flight 2 months later which of course was cancelled. I had another fight cancelled shortly thereafter. I lost hope the Philippines would even open until 2023, so I made 2 trips to Kenya along with 2 other countries! The $$$ I spent was insane in comparison to the Philippines. I have a flight booked for October.. but I will most likely have to reschedule it.. being the vaccine mandate is still in place. The Philippines is filled with some of t he most beautiful and friendly people on the earth. I hope to be living there by mid 2023.

Six years now in The Philippines and from Australia. Sure there are some frustrations with infrastructure, services etc. but the people, family, and low cost of living out way those many times over. Learn to become more Filipino and less Foreigner. Respect the people, the customs, and enjoy the freedom that comes with the financial benefits. Get involved in your local community and lend a hand with local projects. Respect and friendship in any society, can not be bought, it must be earned.

I've been here three years now [Western Visayas] and I'm happier than I've ever been. Feel safer here than when we lived in Atlanta or Miami. The roosters and dogs I've learned to ignore. Fortunately we haven't had too much human caused noise in our neighborhood. I see the US news about price increases and scarcity that we have not experienced here in the PI as long as we buy locally. Going to S&R center is getting more expensive.

The Philippines is a beautiful developing country. There's positive and negative side in every country no matter how beautiful or bad a county can be. Some westerners or foreigners are expecting a high standard of living and comparing it to their rich country , even rich countries have their negative side. So please foreigners or tourist just enjoy your vacation or you can stay or leave there's many options to choose from.

I've been here in Davao for almost 4 months. And I haven't regretted a moment of it. I'm happier, healthier and more relaxed than I have ever been. I have also adopted a more Filipino life style and am getting used to the hurry up and wait way of doing things. You can keep the States.

I live in California, my mortgage on a 3 bedroom house is 2k dollars a month, i rented a 3 bedroom house in the Philippines for $280 dollars a month that's a big savings. I just retired this year i am hoping maybe by next year i can finally move to the Philippines just have sell my house in the U.S. I don't mind roosters or karaoke in Los Angeles where i live we have police sirens and freeway traffic noises so it evens out.

Never mind the "nattering nabobs of negativism" (Spiro Agnew) 🤣 My own Filipina wife is sometimes the source of noise pollution in my house. When she talks on the phone to other Filipinos back home, for some reason she thinks she has to talk extremely loud for them to hear her 🤣 It is interesting that when a group of them get together they get all excited and talk louder and louder over each other laughing and carrying on and it gets louder and louder and louder, add in the music on blast and you have a noise pollution event! 🤣 It's ok, it's all in good fun. I'd definitely prefer hearing people having a good time than hear her scream and bitch about stuff like my American ex-wife did who was in a perpetual state of anger about the world. The Philippines reminded me of Mexico. It was hard to find a place that wasn't some kind of loud in Mexico either, both places have that in common.

I have been in the Philippines since April 2015 allowing me a comfortable Retirement. If I was still in the USA I would still have to work full-time. My modest pension lasts ALL month long. It would last 1 day in the USA. Very good decision for me

Roosters are part of the Philippine landscape as it is with coconut and banana trees. The Karaoke is music to the ears of the Filipinos. When you are in the Philippines, adapt, improvise and overcome or simply go home to your country where you are happier.

I had to leave for health reasons and can't wait to get back. Beautiful country, beautiful people whereas back in the UK is like living in a factory with everyone at each others throats for one reason or another.

I spent a week and a half in the Phils meeting my future wife's family in 2015 and can say with 100% certainty that I felt more loved and accepted in her family than all my years here in the US. There's just something about Filipino families that bring out the best in people. We are working towards moving there permanently and cannot wait for the change of pace!

Just want to add one thing, if I may, more than 90% of Filipino's working for a living outside the Country, "DO NOT" want to Leave the Philippines but, out of the necessity to earn a better living to help their Family survive. Thank you Sir, all of what you experienced in the Philippines is very true, I could not have said it, or done it any better.

I essentially agree with your comments about living in the Philippines in Davao near the airport. I got married to my Filipina wife on line over a year ago and finally moved here a year ago. We met online three years ago and then in person in January 2020. Then COVID-19 intervened. Moving here is the best thing I've done

I think you choose the right country. Soon I’m be heading that way. I would love to live in the Philippines . It’s noisy in America too. Too many crimes shooting everywhere killing kidnapping killing children at school, kids bringing guns parents worries everyday. Where do you want to go? Do you see people carry guns in the Philippines? nope, Philippines is more fun. Don’t worry about the roasters karaoke’s everywhere. Philippines is not as bad as America. Living here in America you always watch what you say to people…or else they tell you to go back to your country. Too many racist. They told me to go back to my country and I don’t belong to America. I have all my family here but I would go back to my homeland when I retire. Believe me I will be sitting by the water smiling and watch the sunrise. Stay in the Philippines as long as you want. You will be missing all that roasters noise in the morning.

Getting ready to return back to uk for work, just spent the whole of December with my partner and children, spent 6 months here during the pandemic as well which was bitter sweet as you could imagine seeing as it was lockdown, we live here in polomolock right next to plantation facing mount matutum, I can honestly say I love this province life, I love the roosters, I love hearing the karaoke, i actually miss the roosters that much when I return to UK that I have them as my alarm call on my phone,..I love the province layed back way of life, I mean having everything you need is so close by, and we are only an hour away from general santos city for the mall... We even have an iced cream/ice lolly bike rider that pulls up right outside our gate for the children. If we need anything from the local stores in our village, the children are able to go get it as they are all well known Even we want a bottle of beer the kids are able to go get it..its as though the government step out of the way and let people live their lives, it very refreshing..we have easy access to fruit and vegetables pork fish and chicken, especiay pineapple seeing as the plantation is on our doorstep and it doesn't cost much to pay the security guards if they are about for any pineapples, the bills i.e electric and water are super low, the people are super friendly and it reminds me very much of when I was a boy in the 70s, neighbours all talk to eachother and help each other, the school is on our doorstep which is great for the kids, everything we have here right now is something that is pretty much dead in the UK in this day and age. The only downside to me is having to leave to return to work in the UK but seeing as the pound goes so far when converted to peso here it enables us to have a far better life than if I brought us all to England where we would be not only struggling but be miserable... I think many who do come to philppines hoping to live here, want what they had in the west but in a tropical surrounding. People should throw away all expectations. When you live here for so long and become part of a community where many people don't have the luxuries of the west.. you come to learn and convert to the realisation that you don't need all the trappings of the west, it's all crap! As long as you have the essentials, your family and your health, it really is paradise! I struggle to fit back into the UK society everytime I have to return, I'm completely detached from it, I don't think like they do now, I have seen poverty here that at beginning it cut me up but there's really nothing you can do to eliminate it, you do eventually became hardened to it, we help who we can when we can, but it's important to never try and change their culture to suit your comfort zones, and avoid the countries politics because it's none of our business.. after all, we are guests in a foreign land and should act accordingly!

Some people aren't capable of adapting to a different country. I'm 36, I moved to Poland from Chicago at 24 and that was a bigger adjustment than moving from the States to Davao City this year. People will b*tch just to b*tch. I don't understand anyone who complains about living in another country. Go home and pay $11 for a pound of ham if you don't like it. Is it perfect here? Of course not. Is it perfect anywhere? BTW thank you for bringing up inflation back home, it is difficult to explain to people how bad things apparently are getting stateside... Yes we make more but everything costs more, and what voodoo [economics] is taking place for the dollar to overtake the Euro I cannot comprehend. BTW younger Filipinos do ask about Trump and our politics. I've had multiple university student types bring up 'voting rights' in the states. My response is always 'Do you need an ID to vote here? ' 'Yes of course!' 'Well some states and people insist that's racist' And then their heads explode from confusion. Love your videos!

Thanks for the video. We just arrived here august 13 and we will try to start the life here with my family. Some of my friends gave me 1 year and they said I’ll be going back to u.s. I was worried. But we are not going to find out if we won’t try. Yes. Chicken we’re noisy at 4 am. Neighbors played loud music and karaoke left and right. We barely heard our movie anymore. Haha. I wondered why they had to play loud music. But I don’t wanna say anything. We like it here so far. We don’t have housemaid. We do our chores daily so we can save money. It’s a big adjustment but I’m glad I get to just stay home and taking of my family. No more working 10 hours a day and 6 days. So glad hubby is not complaining about anything. Ask the 4 Million Filipinos in the US also about what they think about the their situation over there…90% of them said they will go back and enjoy their retirement in the Philippines. They have been in the US for so long and are American Citizens already but still they prefer to go back-avoiding the stressful life and toxicity in the US🤣

Most of those detractors made poor choices, expected life to be exactly the same as in their home country, or didn't work through the expat adjustment phases to reach an adjusted lifestyle best suited to their new location.

You are so right! The american media is insane! Agree with any story on the news or not, they make every story sound like the end of the world is near. It is insane! I love when I am in the Philippines. Like you said, you don't have that crap there.

Life is what you make of the new things you are expecting to encounter with moving to another country its part of the excitement of being in a new place. Glad you took the right attitude to the Philippines. And not like some of the Americans go there and take the better then you attitude towards the local people and for those people they will never experience the joy of being in a new place.

I often wonder how people develop their expectations. I've been fortunate in that I've traveled to about 40 different countries. Not everyone has those experiences. But the PI are fantastic, in keeping with your opinion.

I have grown and embraced western culture and loved living in reno, i thought at the time that i will never go back to the philippines knowing how poor the country is with all the bad stuff i knew about it at the time. However for the past few years i have seen the philippines through the perspective of foreigners travelling or living here and seen how beautiful and how foreigners loved my country. Because of that i have realized how amazing this country is and how blessed i'am to be living in it. Now i wana stay here and travel and go on adventures in every corner of this country. I've found a new appreciation for the phil. Thank you foreigners for showing me how beautiful and amazing living in the philippines. 🍻

Dr Laway - Great channel and tell it like it is, respect. The cultural differences exist everywhere you go and you have to roll with them even if your a pensioner like me. I live in Gensan (Mindanao) and have adapted to the lines in the malls (but if I have an off day), I still am prone to "High Blood" especially around lunchtime when I want to eat........so solution, do your shopping early!! The main gripe I have, and its more of a fear really is hitting someone whilst driving. Its a nightmare when there are no rules, and tricycles just stop for no reason, nobody uses indicators, cars come from out of nowhere at speed, pedestrians walk anywhere they want, bikes and tricycles do not have lights and provinces have bad lighting (or no street lighting at all) in some cases. Being a foreigner I am terrified of hitting anyone and refuse to drive at night, because that is just a lottery when you can not see what is in front of you. Hope you do not have the same experience as me. But otherwise I enjoy being here and my lifesyle is far better than in the UK.

Where my wife and I have a house in Silang, Cavite we don't have a problem with much noise because karaoke has to stop at 10pm, we're not allowed to have chickens or roosters, we don't have a barking dog problem and the only thing that sometimes gets to be a pain are noisy cats. If the cats make too much noise then on goes the hose and that chases them away without hurting them. I don't live near a main road so there's never much traffic going passed our house The good thing is that we have a big subdivision and it's easy to get away from any singing but it's never bothered me. I spent 10months in the Philippines and it's best to look for a good place to live even if you need to move around some to find that place. One other thing where we have our house is that it's 12 miles (19km) north of the Taal Volcano that can create a little havoc like it did when I was there in 2020 but it's still not going to make me leave or complain because no place is perfect.

Well all the things you mentioned were true but I think it just depends on the place you choose to stay...provinces are more peaceful,but there are good things I think the Philippines has just think of the positive side,including having good friends

I am planning to move there in October still try to get things together here. Everyone here wants me to stay here at work. But I think I am moving there I pray it all works out soon. See you soon.

I was in a slum in Marikina city for 33days and I was fine. I did visit Tarlac city and that's where we want to move too. You can get used to all of that noise. We stayed across the street from a rooster farm for a weekend and even 200 roosters didn't drive me crazy.
