POE for the Bridges NEEDS to happen. The fact that you can't manage more than 50 lights is seriously fucking annoying. I have 78 lights, 8 switches and 15 sensors for my entire house and I haven't done the garden or exterior lights yet. Even if you had the bridge seperate the lights onto different zigbee networks and use the bridge as a bridge between the multiple zigbee networks and the IP network. It is the exact same thing as having multiple bridges but in a single managed device. Phillips Hue, lift your game.

The limit of 50 applies for lamps only or include the sensors, Dimer Switches and plugs, also? Today I exceeded 50 devices and suddenly all Dimer Switches stopped responding. The only good thing about that, was that I discovered your channel 😁

When you are saying multiple bridges do you mean multiple homes? I gave 2 smart homes, 2 diff. Bridges, I was able ttyl control lights for awhile, but it stopped. I can only work the 1st bridge with Google home, but I can only work the lights in the 2nd home can only work in the Philip's hue app...

The first question was something I was trying to figure out yesterday, awesome. At least I know I can do it for Google Assistant relatively easily. I tried the alexa trick a couple of days ago and it made the first bridge's lights unavailable.

Justin. Thanks for the interview. I just added a second bridge and have “moved” (deleted and recreated of course) lights and rooms from the first bridge to it. I’m struggling to understand what exactly “creating a separate assistant account” means in order to connect that second bridge to another Google Assistant account. My first thought was using a second gmail / google account but when I’m prompted to approve linking the hue account using the Google Home app, it just automatically links with the first bridge and I’m not presented with the option to select between the two bridges I have. Do I need a second meet.hue account? Is there another route I need to take that allows me to pick between bridges? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again

Almost 10 months later, and we still can't get 2 bridges on one account. I started buying Hue because I hit the 75 device limit for Lutron Caseta. I guess I'm going to have to find a 3rd brand to finish my home once I get to 50 on Hue. Hopefully, someone will implement multiple bridges on one account soon. Whoever does will definitely get more of my business. But, Alexa will control all my lights one way or the other.

When you said to him about the gradient light strip for tv you should have asked him why did he not add to the bottom of the tv. As the price is shocking for just 3 sides of a tv on a wall. Shame that was missed hue should make them longer strips for the price. Good interview.

Owning a lot of hue products myself, and having issues with the likes of the SyncBox as many have, I thought you missed an opportunity to ask more questions on that front... For the most part hue works, but the SyncBox, running alongside an AV amplifier is causing many users issues... maybe you didn't want to ruin the relationship you have with them, but as a viewer, it would have been nice cover a little more of the technical limitations/issues on the AV side of things.

@SimonLeicester
@SimonLeicester 3 жыл бұрын
Good point. I feel the hue sync box is severely overpriced and possibly limited given the existing unit probably won’t be able to offer hdmi 2.1. Also when you add in the cost of gradient light strip you’re looking at around £400 for flashing lights round your TV. Lot of cash for something a bit gimmicky and that you may get bored off after a while.

Nice channel. I too am maxed out on my bridge. I’ve got a second bridge, but my problem isn’t so much that I have to switch between bridges in the app. Yes, that’s annoying, but my big problem is that I want to control all the lights through Alexa and that doesn’t work well with 2 bridges. I put 4 deck lights on the second bridge, but Alexa always thinks two of the four lights are different lights. You can assign them properly, but it never takes. There’s absolutely no reason why this shouldn’t be seamless. Assume we don’t get a new bridge that can handle multiple Zigbee networks, multiple bridges should, well, bridge to each other and provide one logical view of the devices regardless of mesh. In fact, if Philips was clever they’d simply auto configure devices to the proper mesh for reliability and coverage. This is not rocket science. I’m trying to work around this by assigning fixed spectrum, simpler lighting to the Alexa Zigbee hub, but I’m relying a lot on Lutron Aurora dimmer switches and they currently don’t work with Alexa directly through the Echo Plus hub. I’m really juggling things and might have to give up on the hub entirely for the guest bedrooms and move right to Bluetooth with the Lutron Aurora switches to free up capacity for other lights and switches in more central locations. I shouldn’t have to do this.

Sorry philips but it’s NOT intuitive to switch bridges in your app to control lights on another bridge 👎👎👎 That’s terrible design flaw in my opinion, I’m on my second bridge and getting closer to bridge number 3 !!! Plz fix the bridge chaos in your app so I can control all lights from main screen without having to switch bridge !!! Plzz Philips make it right 👍

100% I am also at the end of my second bridge's capacity. It just sucks to switch bridges in the app. I like the approach of the 3rd party apps a lot better. And let's he honest that argument of not being able to easily move lights to a different room - how often do you do this? Very rare. Having to switch the bridge on the other hand, you have to do multiple times PER DAY. In my book the controlling lights without needing to switch has a much higher priority than easily moving lights. Heck if that means I have to delete the bulb and pair it with the other bridge again, I am totally okay with that.
