Philips Hue LED Strip Light Plus Unboxing and Setup
Unboxing and setup of the Philips Hue strip light. A great strip light, with a great quality, excellent RGB colours and simple to setup - only down side is that you do need a Philips Hue beidge as it does not work stand alone via bluetooth or via your WiFi. But is it worth it? If you want a branded strip light with excellent colour representation then yes go with this one, but there are others out there that have great functionality and colour representation and works through an App, controller and through your WiFi. If you have the Bluetooth version of the strip lights, then no. The Bluetooth version will have the Bluetooth symbol on the box, the WiFi version will not. Just download the Hue Bluetooth app, not the regular Hue app, and you won’t need the bridge!

I'm an architect and my client wants me to design his gamer room. I'll basically try to match the furniture dimensions with the dimensions available of this strip light. My question is: can I start with a 1m extension? Or the only way to work is using the 2m strip first and then adding the 1m extensions (and cutting both the strip and the extensions every 33cm if necessary)?

You can do a strip around thw tv, just measure all the sides to get the length required.

@@mandominguela5187 You need a bridge. I think some of the new lights are Bluetooth, though. But you would lose ability to control lights remotely, as well as some other features. Not sure how Bluetooth lights work with Hue Sync either. You need a sync box if you want to use the Hue Sync app to have your devices (Chromecast, gaming system, TV, etc) plugged directly into the box, which is also a switcher, and have it change the lights based on what you're doing. But if you're playing on a PC, or a laptop, you can get The Hue Sync app downloaded for free and have it work without the box. A workaround to having the box is connecting your PC or laptop directly to your TV, and playing your game or media from there to your TV. Won't work for things like a Nintendo Switch, etc, though. I took an old computer, bought a USB wifi receiver to give it internet, plugged it into my TV, and use a wireless keyboard and mouse to play Netflix / Hulu / HBO etc on the TV and utilize Hue Sync without the box.

All, can someone help me: Ive got a Ikea bridge and a lot of Ikea lamp. Wanted to add a ledstrip and philips hue have does (ikea not), so bought the philips hue ledstrip! I linked all up on the ikea bridge, works fine on the ikea app, i can on/off, change color, great, not one problem here so far! But now im trying true the google app and it only gives me 6 basic colors to choose from (from white to warm light, no real colors)? Why not all colors? What did i do wrong and what can i do to fix it..? i have no google assistant in that room connected, can this resolve the issue?

I have recently bought a Phillips Hue GU10 starter kit and I am keen to get some kind of LED strips to accompany these bulbs. Do I purchase the Phillips Hue LightStrip Plus or go for a cheaper alternative? I’d personally like to not have to flick amongst loads of different apps to control my lights!

I really don't understand why this led strip is so expensive. I've intentionally shown everything so you can see for yourself there are other better options out there like Govee. You can't control this one via a controller on the strip and you only get 2 metres!? For the price its nuts.

Geek Street Simple... you are paying for the brand name. Agreed, you get better value elsewhere. I have several different rgbww led strips including this one, and it’s not good value. But the hue system is very good.

Don't buy this product. The double sided tape is the worse. It does not stick to the light strip. When you pull the side off to stick to the wall it pulls away from the light strip and you loose the tape. It falls off wherever you sticking it. Plus you need a hub for this. Nowhere when I was researching did it say you need a hub to connect. It was a waste of money for me.

You could buy the Philips Hue hub anyway; there are smart bulbs and led strips with controllers of other -, far more cheaper-, brands which will work with the Philips Hue hub. Philips Hue works with Google as well as with Amazon Alexa as far as voice assistants could be involved. Tip: smart bulbs of Ikea work with Philips Hue as well; look it up. The price of Philips Hue is caused by corporate greed.
