Start using Ikea TRÅDFRI bulbs with HomeKit via Philips hue bridge and a hue dimmer switch for maximum control!
We are all aware of the limitations in apple HomeKit when it comes to IKEA bulbs if we use them
with Philips Hue bridge. To prevent that either we had to get IKEA DIRIGERA hub and pair bulbs with that or we should check other options like using hue app or google home assistant..etc.
However with matter the things have changed! I'm able to confirm with matter 1.0 version on Philips Hue bridge, IKEA bulbs are exposed in apple HomeKit successfully, meaning that you don't have to buy an IKEA dirigera hub if you already have a hue bridge using with Ikea products.
Unfortunately, dimmers and sensors connected via hue bridge are not exposed in the apple HomeKit.
Good news! Hue dimmer buttons are showing up in HomeKit successfully, with an additional trigger method 'hold' so you can set them up in HomeKit for any HomeKit products and scenes to automate your smart home devices.
How To Enable Matter 1.0? (Detailed Steps & Links)
1. Register for developer account with your hue email address you linked at the link below.
developers.meethue.com/register/
2. Once you register, this is the link you should enter to get QR code in the video (0:32)
developers.meethue.com/matter/
3. Tap on that QR code on your phone, which will navigate you to Philips hue app,
4. In Hue App tap on settings and then go to smart home section where you can enable matter button to get pairing code (0:56)

thanks for your video! That helped me! unfortunately I can't connect lamps together! for example a lamp with 3 spotlights. is this a bug in the beta version or a user bug? The lamp designation also changes again and again (in the HomkitApp)

That happened to me when I first tried to move a light to a different room in Apple HomeKit. It says failed but eventually moves it on my side. Maybe a reboot on hue bridge could help?

That’s exactly what’s this video about… if you have ikea tradfri devices linked to Philips hue bridge, thanks to matter now they are exposed to Apple HomeKit that you can toggle the devices from you Apple control center as well as home app…

Yes you still need a HomeKit hub such as an iPad, HomePod, or Apple TV.

Unfortunately not, neither sensor nor ikea remotes appear here if you use hue bridge with them, but if you use ikea bridge they shows up here in HomeKit

Official Matter update is now available for hue Bridge.

And it works with IKEA, Sengled (E11 RGBW Candle), Cree, Sonoff, Seedan brands. And now all are available to Apple Home and any other Matter Fabric supporting Bridges. Shame on Amazon, Google and Smart Things.

Hello! I manage to add the matter bridge to apple home and it finds all my IKEA lights but all say "No answer" in apple home. What do i do wrong?

If it says no response, try restarting HomePods and your Apple TV if you have any.

Have you registered for developer account? developers.meethue.com/register/ Once you register, this so the link you should enter developers.meethue.com/matter/ Where you will see a QR code (in video 0:32) to open on your phone, which will navigate you to Philips hue app, Then you should click on smart home section in the setting of hue app where you can enable matter button to get pairing code (0:56) Hope that helps!

I get to the qr-code and when I press on it it opens the hue app and I go to smart home and then matter to get the code but it only says getting and nothing happens

@@_Bogdan_ Hmm, sounds like it doesn't provide the code for some reason even though you get the matter button. Maybe you can try registering dev with the email you used with apple sign in method?

Hello, Is there a power on behaviour/last state settings so that lights don't turn on automatically After power outage. No one will get any smart light if this is an issue.

No that setting is not available for ikea bulbs on hue bridge.

Not yet. It can only be used with new smart home app and that doesn’t have that setting yet. I heard home smart 1 app with tradfri hub have that setting only currently.

It’s not a requirement for all users and for this video. For this feature with ikea bulbs you need to get an ikea tradfri hub which is not on the market anymore. But you can get a used one and setup your ikea bulbs with ikea home smart 1 app. That setting will be only available with this setup. Good luck!
