Philips Hue SMART SWITCH and Dimmer by Friends of Hue NO Batteries NO Wiring NO Electrician
Friends of Philips Hue by Senic reached out to me to do an unboxing of their Smart Switch, and to be honest having a look at the product I was blown away! Has no power on it, requires no batteries, no need for wiring, harnesses the power when you press the buttons and you can program each button to do what you want - a very clever little device. Couldn't refuse to showcase this one and to show its features and functions.

The part you mention is quite helpful which I am thinking to do the same, but some people say that it is dangerous and may be illegal. Though I don't see any danger with it while I can easily access to the circuit breaker. And there is also no other way to get rid of the old switches and make them smart (and Hue compatible).

Thanks for the comment, this will work in conjunction with your existing philips hue smart tech that you can control via voice control. It just gives an additional way of controlling.

Is this connection you make only for america or england, because in the netherlands when i connect the blue en the brown wire together i have short circuit . So i think this is not for the netherlands.

Thanks for the comment much appreciated. The Hubitat Hub is a Zigbee device so in theory it should work but to be on the safe side best to contact the company directly to verify.

What type of connection block did you use? Do you get them on a strip and break them off?

16A strip connectors or 30A ones can't remember but either should be fine. Any yes you can just twist them to break them off.

I think screwing it to the holes doesn't make it 100% stable, on 19:42 you press the buttons and the cover moves a little bit with the buttons.

I don't fully tighen as I didn't want the wall marked. Hence why its a light loose.

@@GeekStreet Thanks for the clarification. However Senic customer support said "We do not recommend using the holes and screw it to the wall because it will slightly look off. That's what customers told us afterward."

Nice video, cool idea, but i really think this room thing is stupid, every smart device maker keeps insisting on this room thing, why don't they just leave it all blank and let the user set it for his/her own needs?

As a sort of bright side, at least you can just create a "room" with whatever specific lights you want. I do agree that it is somewhat inconvenient when you have various lights in a room. I end up putting the lights that aren't the primary room lights in "rooms" based on the furniture that's nearby.
