Hue Dimmer Switch V2 on Amazon (affiliate):
I’ve been using these Moes Zigbee switches for over a year now, and they’ve been nothing but a frustrating, intolerable mess the whole time. This is just some of the batteries that just two of these things have burned through in a matter of months, and that’s ignoring their constant lack of connectivity. You’d press the button, the light would flash, but nothing would happen. You’d have to hit it again, only to then find out they were just taking their sweet time and the light it controls would turn on then off, so you’ll need to press it again. It. Was. Infuriating. So I put my foot down and said NO MORE!
That’s where these come in, these are the Philips Hue Smart Dimmer Switch V2, and they are a very, very welcomed improvement. Before I get too far into these, it’s worth covering what the hell it is I’m even talking about. This is part of my smart home series, so if you haven’t seen the other videos I’d highly recommend watching through the playlist and coming back to this one as there’s a fair bit of terminology and jargon I’ll be using that is explained earlier in the series. With that said, let’s jump into this!

I have one of those same Moes switches and after the battery died for the third time I gave up. I have Aqara buttons that work just fine. I just got a Hue dimmer v2 on your suggestion to replace the Moes.

Amazon reviewer says MOES doesn't play nice with ZHA integration, recommends Mosquito MQTT.

If you're talking about the MOES switches, an Amazon reviewer reportedly debugged the issue and he suggests DO NOT USE ZHA integration, use Mosquito MQTT instead and they work flawlessly. I know, I'd rather just use ZHA and call it a day, but I've been looking for an excuse to try MQTT b/c I'm under the impression it works better anyway. Thanks for the recommendation, I just bought 3! You should have included an affiliate link for these. ;) I'll actually use these in tandem with the MOES, if I don't return it.

I bought into Ikea's Tradfri system with the same Sonoff dongle and Home Assistant. I'm using their bulbs and the Rodret/Tradfri switches and they have been working well. Rodret specifically uses AAA batteries which can be rechargeable. As long as the bulbs are bound to the switch in Home Assistant I have found them to be very reliable. Also the cost was a huge factor. A Rodret switch I think was $8 CAD vs $30 for the Philips switches(which admittedly do have more functionality). The Philips Hue stuff seems to be quite good, but you pay a premium for that.

yea they are premium till philipes says your hub or something you already own is not supported and force you to pay $100 or more just to get your existing philipes BS to work again

A lot of complaints about this thing in the comments… I have had the V1 for 3 years now and have literally never had a single problem with it, and the battery is still at over 50%.

I have the Hie dimmer switch and wouldn't recommend it, at least on ZHA. Button press events were unreliable, I've had an immediate improvement in this regard by switching to IKEA smart switches fwiw

I’m literally on my way to return this thing. The connectivity is fine. The clunkyness is the problem. I have a Hue Tap. Those are better, and has a better dimmer built in.

What do you mean by the clunkyness, just how the button presses work or don't work? How can you be sure that's just clunkyness and not connectivity?

NO philipes sucks, i bought the kit with the lights and hub the first day and after 3 years they do not support the old hub so i need to now pay another $100 for a new hub just to control my lights that i bought 3 years ago. NOT RIGHT AT ALL best to buy these lights and other smart home devices but make sure they are open and not needing some type of server from the company like philipes smart home BS
